  1. Strike King's Itsy Bitsy Pond Minnow for me
  2. Does anyone know if Strike King makes a shallow running crankbait? I am looking for one in the 0-1' range. I have been searching at BPS, as well as Cabelas, with no success. I have used the BPS "The Egg", and the Bandit version, but was hoping for a SK version.
  3. I will second the strike king red eye shad lipless cranks that perform well. I always have success with them. not to mention, the SK's are cheaper than the rapalas!! well it sounds like they dont perform from a number of members..... thanks for the input guys........
  4. change? i dont change at all. i buy numerous cranks all the time to just try them. but the rippin rap is just one i never have success with. just checking to see if its just me or if others have the same results. how can you NOT like Rapala? besides the price. I am liking strike king more and more as time goes on.........but its mainly cause of price.
  5. does anyone have any luck with the Rapala Rippin' Rap? I throw lipless cranks quite a bit, mainly the strike king lures, with great success. but when it comes to the rapala ones.......not so much
  6. here is a photo of the new
  7. Here is my new modified ride. I am attaching photos of the before and the NOW. Huge difference but totally modified!!! I have the original motor paint colors that Evinrude calls out, so I will be painting the motor shortly. I was going to paint it gray/red to match boat but i think id like it to be the original manufacturer coloring.
  8. Everywhere I have looked, I am seeing the battery I need for $80 or so bucks. Looks like it is what it is
  9. WRB, do things change from what you stated if I fish from a boat? Or does the same principals apply no matter where I fish?
  10. ya, thats one of the locations I go to
  11. currently I fish the Little Miami River of East Fork on the east side of Cincinnati, Ohio. The main lake I fish is East Fork Lake, again, east side Cincinnati, ohio
  12. I was talking to a few local guys as well, they mentioned the same thing. I have heard of trolling motor batteries.......... When you mention "cheap", what price range would I be looking at? closer to $50, or closer to $100+?
  13. I'm liking this idea better!!! Love the price That would be enough to carry the lights/depth finder for a few hours?
  14. hey all, I currently have a battery that is designated to the trolling motor. I would like to pick up an additional battery to run only the boat lights and the depth finder. The lights will very seldom be used but still would like a battery to carry the load. The depth finder will run the whole time out...... I am not familiar how much juice the lights/depthfinder would require, but can someone give me some advice on what size battery I'd need?
  15. very good.........thank you for the input!! I will definitely take a mental note of this and see what I can muster up next time out...... I will keep you posted. thank you again Crankbait09
  16. Hi all, I am still trying to fish plastics from time to time. I just want them to work for me like they do everyone else (or at least it seems) So I am throwing them more and more as of the last couple weeks. Yesterday, I was fishing a senko, wack rigged. I felt a few tubs/nibbles. Not sure what it was so I jerked to the left like I do with all my crankbaits and I ended up pulling a blue gill out of the water. The thing is, I pulled him out only for the fact that he was holding on to the rubber worm. no where near the hook. Once he figured out that he was out of the water, he released his death grip and back in to the water he fell. so he was never hook set. So if this were a bass that was trying to take this soft plastic. how do you set the hook so that the hook sets? How do you know when to set the hook? I don't understand that. Also, when you are t-rigging a plastic bait, whether it be a worm, creature bait, fluke, etc.........most of the time i try it t-rigged. Again, same thing. How do you know when to set the hook???? I can't grasp soft plastic fishing strategies but for some reason, I keep buying them (i don't understand that one, they dont even work!!) can anyone shed some light on this? (sorry if wordy)
  17. I use this lure ALL THE TIME. Although the hooks do get caught on each other from time to time, I have never put much thought in to switching them out to avoid it. It doesnt happen that often to me, so no worries THAT is an awesome crankbait. that is my go to crank in wading waters!!!!
  18. Thank you for the advice. Most of my travel so far is by car. So a two piece combo would probably work....I'll keep looking
  19. I am finding myself traveling more and more for work and thought of a nifty idea. Why not buy a telescopic rod to carry with me on these trips in case I find a body of water I am able to fish. So I started to google the telescopic rod and found a number of places that sells them, BPS being one of them. I am seeing a lot on Amazon as well as Ebay. Now, I wouldn't fork out a crap ton of money for one of these set ups, mainly for the fact I wouldn't use it a lot. I am seeing them on ebay, as well as Amazon for about $10-15. which aint bad at all. I realize a lot of them are coming from China or Hong Kong..............but it is something to get by with. question is this....has anyone ever bought a telescopic rod for this same reason? Have you bought the 10-20 dollar set ups?? How did they hold up? worth the purchase? (i would use it for bass fishing, artificial lures)
  20. I think I was hoping for something a lot cheaper than that. But I'm not sure. That is definitely what I was looking for though. Perfect.........I shall think about that one. thank you for the link!
  21. For all of you canoe-ers out there. Is there an easy solution for adding a third seat to a canoe, in the middle? I have a 16ft Old Town Canoe and would like to add a seat in the middle for when I am flying solo.
  22. Hello all I was looking on iboats website and i saw a seat pedestal package for a decent price. http://www.iboats.com/Lock-N-Pin-3-4-Pedestal-Package-with-11-Post-and-7x7-Base-Swivl-Eze/dm/cart_id.774707858--session_id.507715229--view_id.69845 I have never bought seat hardware before and am looking to modify my existing flat bottom jon boat. can anyone shed some light on this package? Is it a good deal? quality? Does one pedestal seat package differ from another? any advice would be appreciated. thank you
  23. Yes I do have the self etching primer. As for that website, that's where I read about all the more expensive paint as well as zinc oxide paint... Still unclesr exactly what to buy.
  24. Hey all I have a 14' flat bottom aluminum jon boat. It is currently a nasty dark green color. I am in the process of prepping the inner/outer surfaces so I can paint it a different color. I have searched on a bunch of sites and all of the paint that is recommended is very expensive. Or at least, more than I want to spend. I dont wanna rob the bank in order to get this boat painted. As long as the paint holds up and it looks good, is all im concerned with. I won't have the boat forever but would like to have it look good for the time i own it. I have heard some people say marine grade paint but for the price.....I'd like to pass. I hear Rustoleum is decent for it, but can't seem to find a site that spells out which product to use. I hear of urethane based enamel but when I do a google search for it, I can't find anything that a local HD or Lowes would carry. Has anyone ever painted an aluminum boat? Can you recommend any cheap/good aluminum paint? spray or roll on, either one. I have never painted a boat no have I ever applied a clear coat. id like to do both.
