  1. Do you know anywhere you can get copies of this for cheap? I just looked on amazon, $52.00 for a used book is pretty steep. Then again, I paid 3x that for some books in college that I never even opened, and I would actually read this one...
  2. They're hands down my favorite live bait for smallmouth. I'll have to check out the case helgies, as i didn't there was a soft plastic version available.
  3. My fiance recently moved to Columbia from Rochester, NY. I am planning on going down there to visit her for several weeks in May after my semester ends, and I was wondering about any good spots for bank fishing. I know Lake Murray is close, but don't know anything about any other waters, or if Murray has any spots with good public access for bank fishing. I probably can't afford a guide, but if anyone knew anything about boat rentals on Murray or anywhere else close that would be appreciated as well. Thanks.
  4. No wonder he wasn't enjoying the date.
  5. My grandparents live on a lake that is primarily a smallmouth/walleye/northern pike lake. The first bass i ever caught was a smallmouth out of this lake when i was 7 years old and I've been hooked ever since.
  6. Being on the wrong side of 35 and having all those neck problems, Manning is likely done IMO. That's not to say he won't try to find another team and get signed somewhere, but i have serious doubts he'll ever be anything close to the player he once was. That being said, I hope Miami picks him up too. Of course, being a Bills fan who thinks he is likely to fail, my reasons are probably different than yours.
  7. The story itself is inspirational, yes. Where the video lost me was all the slow boring music over shots of guys lifting weights and doing agility ladders in between sentences. If the video was about half as long and the story was told steadily instead of having all those long pauses, it would have been much better. JMO.
  8. That video reminded me of baseball in one way: I was bored less than 2 minutes in.
  9. It could be worse. When I was about that age, I ratted my dad out to the cops. At that time, you had to be 5 years old to ride in a car without a booster seat. Usually my mom picked me up from daycare, so the carseat was in her car. Something came up, however, so my dad had to pick me up and he ended up getting in a fender bender with me in the front seat with no carseat. When the officer who responded to the accident asked my dad how old I was, my dad said 5. I said "No daddy, I'm 3!," and my dad got ticketed. To this day we still laugh about it.
  10. In my experience when you're told to stop hitting a female with your white lizard, its best to listen. Otherwise, you'll be the one leaving the bed.
  11. I'd let you have my old brain, but unfortunately i need it and its the only one I've got.
  12. The best part about the game last night for me was that the 2011 football season ended with it, meaning it is now the 2012 season and my BIlls are undefeated! WOOHOO! Go Bills!
  13. I have the Mojo 7'MHF and I love it as a jig/worm rod. Some people say it's tip heavy, but I find it balances nicely with a reel in the 8oz range. make sure you try it with the reel you'l be using on it before you buy. I haven't used the moderate one, but I've been thinking about getting one as a crank rod as well
  14. At this point, 6 more weeks of winter means we'll be having 6 total weeks of winter. I'll take it.
  15. Many stores have a publicly stated policy of lowest price marked is the correct price. I believe Dicks is actually one of them. Even in stores where this is not stated policy, in my experience if you point out that you think the sticker is wrong, most stores will sell it to you for that price anyway. As long as you're not being shady about changing stickers yourself a la The Natural, I see nothing wrong with using this customer service policy to your advantage whenever possible, but you should at least mention that you think the sticker might be incorrect.
  16. This move makes no sense to me. The Raiders just traded away their top pick in what was already going to be a thin draft for them due to several other recent trades for a guy who has been sitting at home since the end of last season and had his best seasons 5-6 years ago. He's unlikely to step in and be great right away while learning a new system this year and not having been on a football field for 10 months, and he was threatening retirement if he didn't get traded so I'm not sure his heart is in it long term. If it works out great for the Raiders, but the price they paid seems really high for a guy whose been an average QB in recent years with so many question marks.
  17. Let's ask Mike Gundy:
  18. Vibram Fivefingers KSO.
  19. Haha J, that picture reminds me of when they were building the BJ's in Greece. I was an immature teenager at the time and was going somewhere with my parents when I saw the sign from 390: BJ's COMING SOON. Of course I started laughing uncontrollably and my parents asked me what was so funny, so I told them. My dad started busting a gut too, but my mom wasn't quite as amused as we were
  20. My peers don't like when I hit them with casts no matter what reel i'm using.
  21. I usually repair mine until they're completely unusable and then throw them away, but if you're willing to trade me beer for trash I might take you up on it.
  22. 23. A self proclaimed noob who usually catches 3-10 lb'ers? I need to fish where this guy is fishing.
  24. For swimbaiting with spinning gear, Fish Chris is the guy you want to talk to. Try sending him a PM if he doesn't comment on this thread.
  25. Lots of people are saying that the 7' MHF avid is tip heavy. I don't have this rod, but FWIW I do have the 6'6" MHF Avid and the 7' MHF mojo. The mojo is noticeably tip heavy with a light reel, but perfect with reels in the 8-9oz range IMO. I don't find my 6'6" avid to be tip heavy at all and I have my lightest reel on it, a BPS carbonlite. When I was originally looking at Avids I wanted the 7' MHF too, but I ended up with the 6'6" instead for the simple reason that it was on clearance and the 7' wasn't. I use mine for jigs and plastics mostly, and I have not yet encountered a situation where I felt the extra 6" would have made a big difference. If you're set on a 7 footer don't let me change your mind, but you might find that a slightly shorter rod balances better and still does everything you want it to do.
