  1. I give you credit raider nation fisher because it takes a lot of time and energy and sacrifice to get big and strong let alone the mental anguish of battling cravings to drop body fat.I have always been in to strength training my whole life and now that i am older (53) i do it just to maintain what i have. Most people that are my age complain about the aches and pains but they don't realize its not because of their age it is because they are out of shape. Sorry for the rant and straying off the topic. You look good, keep it up.Its one thing to get big but not many people have the mental strength to be big and ripped.I applaud your efforts.
  2. I got a kick out of that ,plus it motivated me to get up out of my chair and go check my mailbox.
  3. I prefer the simplicity and stealthiness of the kayak.I don't have to drag the trolling motor and battery with me.I fish ultra clear strip pits with spooky bass and i would see bass fleeing from a distance when i would turn on my trolling motor. The very first outing in my kayak which for me was the first time ever in a kayak i caught the biggest bass of my life (24" around 7#) in the middle of the day on a flat calm sunny afternoon, tough conditions in this super clear water. In my kayak i have bass and turtles and such swimming up to me trying to figure out what the heck i am,they think i am apart of the landscape like a floating log. Its hard to explain the high i get out of kayak fishing.I love the simplicity of having the basics with me and being miles away and being one with nature with very little distractions.
  4. I am 52 and bought my first fishing kayak two years ago (ride 115) I can't think of one negative thing about fishing out of it.I take it out 2-3 times a week and prefer it over my pond prowler which i haven't used since i bought my kayak. I have never had a problem landing a fish or being dragged around a lake by a big bass. I am not an expert on kayaks since this is my first one but i venture to say most fishing kayaks are stable as heck (go to you tube and watch guys catching huge fish out of them in the ocean) I sit side saddle in mine all the time while fishing with my legs dangling in the water without fear of tipping over.If people can stand up and fish out of these thing you don't have to worry about being flipped out of it while sitting and fishing. Kayak fishing is a blast, even for us older guys.
  5. I don't follow hockey much so i don't know which team is the better of the two but i have to say the guy who sings the national anthem for the black hawks is incredible.I would like to go to a game sometime just to hear him sing.
  6. I would buy some berkley power worms in blue fleck color and texas rig them with a 1/4 worm weight and toss them around those trees in the water.I never had much luck in murky water wacky rigging, clear water yes.I would buy some black & blue colored soft plastics for murky water like that.
  7. I would research online about some of the ingredients in sunscreen.I remember reading an article online and the topic was about how some brands have questionable chemicals in them that may cause skin cancer.
  8. I have caught the same bass three times this week while shore fishing (21") in roughly the same spot on various types of rubber worms. My buddy has caught it once. We can tell its the same bass because its missing apart of its lower fin and has a bloody sore spot where its missing. Anyone else ever experienced such a streak? were wondering how long this streak is going to continue.lol
  9. I put a dab of honey on a cut.I had read where raw honey keeps wounds from getting infected.
  10. I just picked up a set for $29 at the bps fathers day sale last week.I bought them for keeping in my kayak for an emergency set.I haven't had a rain storm since i bought them but i will post my opinion on my next rainy outing, for $29 i don't expect outstanding results.lol
  11. I ran into a fellow fisherman who was using a reaction innovation sweet beaver texas rigged with a worm weight while i was using a jig and trailer set up and it got me wondering is their a situation where one would work better than the other? they seem like similar style baits besides the skirt.I have never bought or used beaver style baits am i missing anything?
  12. I have been meaning to try them on a split shot rig or mojo rig.
  13. I have an extended cab tundra and keep three of my 7ft rods with me all the time. Like i said in my previous post just tuck the handles under the glove box land rest the rods on the top of the passenger seat for support.I found by taking the headrest off the passenger seat it gave me a better angle so the rod tips wouldn't touch the roof line at the back of the cab.
  14. I have my rods (7ft) in rod socks and carry them in the cab with me. i have an extended cab tundra and i found out that by tucking the handles of the rods up under the glove box and taking the headrest off the passenger seat the upper halves of the rods rest on the top of the passenger seat for support without having the tips of the rods touching the back window.
  15. I bought some of the long sleeve cotton shirts to keep the sun off me while i am out fishing in my kayak,if someone shore fishes these shirts are perfect for blending into the background, great quality shirts for the money.
  16. Welcome from the southwest suburbs,
  17. A yamamoto shad shape worm texas rigged weightless or wacky rigged in shad or watermelon color, toss it in the shady spots.
  18. I spent 8 hours fishing in my ride 115 without a backache or pain and i am 52.I would have stayed out even longer if a front hadn't passed through and shut down the bite.I have never tried a hobie pro angler but they look like they would be a mean fishing machine.
  19. Prayers sent for you traveler.
  20. Happy birthday Sam. Thanks for all the great posts. You have helped alot of us become better fishermen.
  21. I ran into a fisherman yesterday while i was out fishing and he was telling me he caught a big bass the day before, around 7# and he described to me about how the bass had an air bubble or air pocket under the surface of its skin that moved from one side of the fish to the other,he said he released it and it just hung around his boat for awhile.I have heard about bass having an air bladder and how you have to poke it somewhere to release the air or it will die. From what he described is this the problem this bass had?
  22. Continual prayers for you and your family. Please keep us updated on your road to recovery.
  23. All teams have their draft horror stories.Im a bears fan, need i say more.lol. Its always fun to follow the draft and watch some of the no names become big names and some of the big names become no names through their careers, its really a crap shoot with millions of dollars at stake.
  24. I just started playing around with a split shot set up myself a couple weeks ago.I have caught a few bass on the rig already.I use my 7 ft light st croix eyecon rod and i have 10# power pro braided line with a 6# floro leader.I started getting line twist problems in my braided line so i tied a swivel on to where the two lines join and haven't had a problem since.I bought some of those crimp on tapered worm weights because they seem to come through the weeds pretty well. For a retrieve i just keep the rod at the 10 o'clock position and reel or drag the lure slowly across the bottom, sometimes faster.I have had the best luck using 4" robo worms so far but i have had luck with small chigger craws, small flukes, tube jigs, french fry worms,3' and 4'senko worms, basically the same lures you use on a carolina rig but smaller versions of them.
  25. Praying for you.I hope you get some good news from your doctor today.
