  2. Hi Mike, welcome from the south suburbs of chicago. To become a better bass fisherman all you have to do is pick this site apart. The more time you put into reading on here the better bass fisherman you will become.
  3. Congratulations on the great new bigbill. God Bless you and your family.
  4. What a cool story. Thanks for posting it Dmb.
  5. Praying for you and your family stitch.
  6. I like to do the same as the poster above, i will rig my berkley power worms or baby brush hogs weightless and let them glide on the top or slowly fall into an opening in the slop.
  7. I use all spinning outfits and my first rod I bought was a st Croix triumph 7ft medium power. Its a nice multi purpose rod for the money.
  8. It sounds like it's one of those old cranky ghosts that doesn't take to change very well.lol
  9. I had some unexplained things happen right after my dad died.I would go to his house on the weekends to maintain it and while i was their i had the vacuum cleaner turn on by itself once while it was sitting in another room unattended . On another occasion I had the tv turn off twice while i was watching it, the remote was a good couple feet away sitting on the coffee table out of reach. Cool signals if you ask me.
  10. Hi Sam, How long have you had a ghost in your house? What are some of the things that the ghost has done? Has it ever awoke you guys during the night? I find this stuff pretty interesting.Ed
  11. I am a dawn person also.I take my days off during the week to avoid the masses and clusters of shore line bucket people.I fish from a kayak and i almost always have the lakes to myself. It's doesn't get any more relaxing than that.
  12. I sure wouldn't want to go skinny dipping in that body of water at night, lol
  13. I don't get angry if I get skunked. I fish solo most of the time out in my kayak and I enjoy the peace and tranquility of being out in nature. I look it as being my quiet time with God.
  14. I love using power worms this time of year.I buy the 7"in blue fleck and black color. I will fish them weightless or i or i will use a worm weight.Try varying the worm weight size at times for a different fall rate.
  15. Congrats on your achievement K_mac,thats a heck of an accomplishment.
  16. I don't remember what size jigs you were using but I use anywhere from 1/16 to 5/16.I wonder if the taps you were feeling weren't small bass and bluegill playing with your jig trailer and that's why you weren't getting any hook ups.
  17. I would texas rig a rubber worm with a bullet weight and cast it out where all those logs are you spoke of.I have alot of luck this time of year with the berkley power worms with the ribbon tail.I like blue fleck or even black .I would also try a baby brush hog in green pumpkin color in place of the worm. I like to vary the size of the worm weight to see if the bass are in a chasing mood or go with a small weight for slow fall,if nothings happening cast it out and let it sit for a minute before retrieving,
  18. I use the bps binder bags like Papajoe described.I have one of the smallest size bags for smaller finesse worms and plastics and one of the bigger double sided ones for bigger worms and plastics.I am always tinkering around in the winter months to find the perfect formula; This past winter i got creative and took out all the ziplock bags in both so they look like empty mini suitcases and i put the soft plastics back into the original bags they came with and put them into the hollow binder bags.I noticed it was easier for me to spot different brands faster because of all of the different colored original bags. On a funny note, if i don't stop my buying soon i am going to have to upgrade to one of my wife's luggage bags.
  19. I fish ultra clear strip mine pits where i can easily spot structure a good 20 feet on the bottom and i use 10# power pro moss green braided line with a 6# floro leader and have no problem catching fish, and i work jigs slow.I didn't notice if you were using spinning or a bait caster.I tried using all floro (6# 100% trilene floro) once on my spinning reel and i hated it. It came of like a slinky when i casted with it.
  20. I fish jigs like i fish other texas rigged soft plastics.I like working soft plastics slow.I have a nice legend elite spinning rod for bottom contact lures and i love dragging a jig or plastic worm across the bottom. My favorite way of working jigs is to slowly drag them across the bottom making sure i keep contact with bottom at all times.I love feeling every little tap through the rod as the jig makes contact with various things on the bottom. When i make contact with some kind of bottom structure i will usually let it sit for a few seconds and then lightly pop it to get it over what i just made contact with and this seems to be when i get the hit. Its hard to explain but for me slowly working jigs or weighted soft plastics across the bottom is like meditation.
  21. I go the with the zippered pants also.I had an old timer tell me he throws some moth balls in the bottom of the boat and it keeps the flies from biting his ankles.I don't what would be worse the flies biting your ankles or inhaling moth ball fumes all day.lol
  22. I did a similar thing as these guys and used a trolling motor bracket and a piece of 3/4 conduit and a chunk of 1/4 Plexiglas.I drilled some holes in the Plexiglas and used some 3/4 conduit hangers to attach the Plexiglas to the piece of conduit.A rudder makes a huge difference.
  23. This is why i love this site so much, you race home to turn it on because you wonder what crazy topic popped up while you were at work or while you were out fishing.lol
  24. I am not up to date on this topic since i am older (52) and just lift to stay fit but i remember reading a article where this guy named dan duchaine who had books out on steroids and even served prison time for steroid related offenses i believe.I remember he was interviewed in some bodybuilding magazine and i cant remember if his reply was about both supplements and steroids or supplements only but he talked about how he saw some of the best built people he ever saw in his life when he was in prison and how they didn't have access to all this stuff, they just lifted, ate and spent most of their time lying around and recovering.I think to him eating and resting and (which most of us don't do enough because of busy lives unlike prisoners) was all most of us need.I just try to eat healthy and stay in shape so i don't have to avoid the stairs as i get older.lol
  25. I was helping my 80 year old uncle with some work in a dirty old semi trailer. I had my wife throw some sandwiches together for lunch while i went in to scrub my hands because they were as black as cue balls.I will never forget when i came out of the bathroom and went back outside my uncle was standing outside the trailer eating his sandwich which was on white bread with his black hands, not dirty but black, you could see the white bread had more black showing on it then white.lol
