  1. It would be a lot easier if you could find an old trolling motor and take the top and bottom off it and you would have the shaft and the clamp to make a rudder out of. The clamp is especially helpful. If your not in a hurry i would try garage sales or craigslist for an old motor. Have you looked on you tube? maybe someone has a video on a homemade rudder.
  2. I bought a box of 832 a couple months ago because walmart was out of the regular power pro in the 10# size.i personally don't notice much difference between the two except the 832 was a few dollars more a spool.I have to admit i am not too anal when it comes to things like fishing line so for me i am happy with using the cheaper power pro.
  3. I have a pond prowler and a kayak and i haven't used the pond prowler for a couple years since buying my kayak.I take my days off from work during the week to avoid the masses on the water during the weekends so i solo it most of the time,I think for you the pond prowler would be the way to go since you like fishing with a friend.I like my pond prowler but i prefer the simplicity and stealth of being in a kayak and not having to drag motors, batteries around. If you go the pond prowler route look on craigslist for some used ones, sometimes you see some cheap ones on there.
  4. I fish a lot of clear strip pits and i have the best luck with a 4' wacky rigged yum dinger in watermelon color.I would pick up some yamamoto shad shape worm and rig them weightless on a 1/0 ewg hook and toss the around the weeds and let them float down slowly.I like using a 2" or 3" watermelon colored grub on a 1/8 oz jig head and toss them out and swim them back.I have caught numerous bass on black & blue jigs also.I use 10# power pro line in the moss green color for line.
  5. I would try using a texas rigged robo worm rigged weightless or a yamaoto shad shape worm texas rigged weightless.
  6. I caught my personal best (24" over 7lbs ) on a 7 ft lite powered eyecon rod. I love finesse fishing and this rod is perfect for flinging lighter baits.
  7. I fish a lot of clear strip mine pits and my favorite jig I use in the pits is a 5/16 black & blue jig with a zoom u vibe trailer (black & blue colored also).
  8. I have the 10 ft model and it hangs out the back of the tailgate just a couple of feet (6 ft bed,2 ft tailgate when down) the couple feet hanging out the back is no big deal. I have a 55 lb thrust trolling motor on it. I fish alone often so i reversed the handle on the trolling motor so it is mounted on the front of the boat and the handle faces me.I sit up near the front or actually a little farther back towards the middle to balance things out. You will want to make a rudder for it. A rudder will make a huge difference from having the wind spin you in circles. See if you can't find an old trolling motor and just use the shaft and the clamp and you can use a piece of plywood or in my case i used a scrap of 1/4 plexiglass .I drilled holes in the plexiglass and used three conduit clamps to mount the plexi to the shaft.
  9. I agree.I only use it as a leader with braid.
  10. I have a 10 ft pond prowler and its a nice handy boat.I am sure if you looked at the reviews on the bass pro shop you will see favorable reviews for it. On a side note i haven't used my pond prowler for the last two years since i bought a fishing kayak.
  11. I hope you change your mind Sonny.I and many others on here have enjoyed your posts over the years. We would miss your presence on here.
  12. I would give it back.I always stop and unhook a shore fisherman when i see one snagged when i am out in my kayak.
  13. He was probably texting one of his friends while he was sharpening your knife.
  14. I am looking forward to your review.I have an older (5-6 years) legend elite spinning rod (7ft,med power) and its my go to all purpose rod. I have thought of upgrading it to an extreme but i like it so much its hard to get rid of it.
  15. Check out you tube also.
  16. This slow summer fishing spell has me bored so I have been thinking of making a rudder for my kayak. I have some scrap 1/4 plexiglass lying around and i was thinking of making it say 4" x 19" for my ride 115. How does that size sound to those of you who have rudders on your kayaks already?
  17. Thanks for the funny post Sam. That was hilarious!
  18. I was thinking of upgrading the seat on my wilderness ride 115 to an elevated one like air pro phase 3 elevated seat. The stock seat is fine but i thought sitting up a little higher would have some fishing benefits to it. The air pro seat is supposed to lift you 5-6 inches.I have never tried an elvated seat before so i was wondering how something like this would effect stability, especially in windier conditions. Anybody have experience kayak fishing in an elevated seat?
  19. Instead of an ultra light rod I bought a st Croix eyecon rod in the 7ft length lite power and its one of my favorite rods. I caught the biggest bass of my life on it (24' and 7#) and it held up perfectly.
  20. He was a frequent poster but I haven't seen a reply on here from him in ages. Is he ok ? did he get banned?
  21. I like using the yamamoto shad shape worm. I like to texas rig it weightless and throw it around cover and let it slowly fall down. Some times i will add a small worm weight to give it a faster drop.
  22. Barbless man #2
  23. Hey Sam, I am going to ask that ghost thats pestering your house where your double secret pond is located, I wonder if he will spill the beans if i talk to him nicely.lol. Ed
  24. Happy Birthday Andy! I hope your pounding down the carbs (cake & ice cream).
  25. Congratulations to you and your wife. God bless you both.
