  1. I am a bottom feeder also. I have four rods rigged up in my truck one has a jig, and the other three are a texas rig, split shot rig which i sometimes switch to a light mojo rig and a drop shot rig. When i got back into fishing 5-6 years ago after being out of it for decades i bought a ton of tackle including treble hooked stuff.I found i am geared differently and prefer bottom contact fishing with jigs and soft plastics. I am addicted to feeling the bottom coming through my rods knowing any second could be a tap I hear comments from some of my power fisherman friends because i have been known to take a few minutes between casts which drives them nuts but thats the way i am and the way i love to fish.
  2. Nice yak Felix. I bought one a couple of years ago in the sand color with the standard seat and its plenty comfortable,i spent nine hours in it on one outing last spring and i am 53. I looked on you tube and got some good ideas for making an anchor trolly and a milk crate dolly that comes apart so you can put it in the back of your yak.I may invest in that elevated seat that came with yours,it looks nice.
  3. Put a dab of honey on an open wound,it will keep it from getting infected. (look up the benefits of raw honey and its healing practices) Next time take a big swig of Knob creek bourbon before removing the hook.
  4. I bet that was his last outing good luck trying to talk him into going back out fishing with the guys again.
  5. Number 1 in a bottle standing up in my kayak. Number 2 along the shore near a tree in a "tick" free area.
  6. Most people don't have the patience to fish this way but i love using a jig as a search bait from shore. Most of my friends are power fisherman but i l love fan casting a jig from shore and slowly work it way back to me.I used to hear comments from my buddies about how long i takes me between casts but i love the feeling of the jig making contact with the bottom structure and the addicting feeling of that tap that Bankbeater was talking about. I also love the option with jig fishing to be able to toss it out and reel it back in fast like a spinnerbait or crankbait.
  7. They also work good as a jig trailer.
  8. I fish gin clear strip pits that resemble that and i have great success with a 4" wacky rigged yum dinger in watermelon color and yamamoto shad shape worms in green pumpkin and shad color texas rigged weightless and a 5/16 oz black & blue jig with a zoom u vibe trailer. Don't be afraid to go with other colors besides natural because i have caught a ton of bass in those clear pits on a 7" berkley power worm in blue fleck color as well as the black & blue color jigs, more so than the green pumpkin colored jigs.
  9. Funny stuff! http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b27_1398507755
  10. Chow down some white castles or taco bell and then wait a couple hours and go for a long car ride.
  11. A 5/16 oz black & blue jig with a zoom ultra vibe craw trailer in black sapphire color. I love the feeling of slow dragging a jig across the bottom and feeling the bottom through my rod.It can be a painfully slow process but it has caught me a lot of bass.
  12. I like Sam's rock idea. I am going to have to try this the next time to avoid a verbal confrontation,be silent and lob a big rock and then move on.
  13. Better that its the bait monkey and not the booze monkey or drug monkey.
  14. Go Hawks!
  15. I fish some gin clear strip mine pits that i can see the bottom a good 20 feet down and i use 10# power pro braided line in the moss green color without a leader. My two favorite killer baits are a 4" wacky rigged yum dinger in watermelon color and the yamamoto shad shape worm texas rigged weightless or on a drop shot. I hear guys going using a lot of natural colors in clear water but i have had great luck with a black & blue jig and a 7" berkley power worm in the blue fleck color also.

  17. They probably edited out the big swig of makers mark bourbon he took before the hook extraction took place.
  18. Correction ! Fishermen told me today that it is sag quarry east that has the fish kill.
  19. I have heard from a couple different fishermen that they had a fish kill at sag quarry. One side seems ok but dead bass and other fish were seen floating on the west side if i remember correctly.

  22. I was agreeing with this quote when i made my post above.
  23. I agree. I fish gin clear strip pits and i use 10# power pro braided line in the moss green color without a leader for slow moving techniques like jigs and weightless plastics and drop shotting and i still catch fish regularly.
  24. I fish a lot of ultra clear strip pits and my favorite lure is a wacky rigged watermelon yum dinger in the 4" size and the yamamoto shad shape worm texas rigged weightless. I also like throwing a 3' watermelon grub on a 1/8 jig head and swim it back to my kayak. I also do a lot of drop shotting with robo worms, centipedes, shad shape worm etc. A kayak is superb in gin clear water.
  25. After reading about your sister in law i walked up to my wife and hugged her and gave her a big kiss.
