  1. PHE (Public Health England) has done a study, look it up. Tons of other scientific work that proves vaping is "harm reduction" as opposed to cigarette smoking. For those that are bashing and say "I just quit cold turkey, man up" well I'm not you and you are certainly not me. Smoked, quit (yes, cold turkey), started up agin. Vaping made it quite easy and have not had combustible tobacco in a year and a half! Proud of that fact and happily admit, I don't see myself quitting vaping any time soon. I only vape where smoking is permitted and am not a cloud chaser so my intention is not to fog out anyone in close proximity. It has become quite a nice little hobby for me as I like to tinker and get what will keep my cravings for nicotine to a minimum. Is it totally risk free, nope. Is there a possibility it's worse that cigs, not a chance. All of the ingredients that make up e liquid are GRAS ( generally regarded as safe by the FDA. Almost all of the "exploding" ecig reports are one of four things: 1) cheap rewrapped reject batteries used beyond their capabilities 2)cheap setups that have been charged with a charger other than the charger that came with the setup 3) unprotected battery loose in a pocket with change or keys or both 4) uneducated consumers that have not done any research on what devices can used with certain atomizers Battery safety is a must, read and ask questions before you berate others.
  2. Be careful with the weather down there as well!!
  3. Might be a little better for the following weekend
  4. First time I saw a deer swimming, I said "look at that duck swimming backwards!"
  5. I've had some good success with this bait early in the spring. Especially when pads and weeds just start growing. This bait seems to pull through the emerging pads nicely. I will make a long cast and let it sink to the bottom, contact the sprouts and rip and twitch the bait back down on a slack line. They will crush it on the fall so be prepared to set the hook!!
  6. Disco violet or disco green, tail dipped chartreuse!! Depending on what flavor the forage is where I'm fishing!
  7. I equate paddle boarders to Prius drivers of the water where I fish! Think they own the water with zero respect for common sense or concept of how to function on navigable waterways! Dont like them, don't need them! Cockroaches of the reservoir!
  8. Hey!!! Congrats Sonny!! Give mamma a big hug! Can't wait to see some more pics once you get everybody settled in!! Im sure your grandpa duties will be on point giving your daughter a chance to rest up for the onslaught that twins will bring!!
  9. Our nations capital has the same problem, not sure how many they were "short" but I think the went looking out of town to look to fill positions. Even then, they said it would take quite some time before the rookies would be able to do patrols on their own!! It's a tough situation everywhere. There are plenty of places I refuse to go downtown, even if they are just a few blocks away from million dollar condos!!
  10. Not sure the cable connections will hold up for very long with constant plugging and unplugging!!
  11. Past couple seasons if I'm not in the boat and walking around neighborhood ponds, I like the new strike king chatter bait style thingy!! Seems to do really well in newly emerging pads and out deep on points with a yo-yo type retrieve. When down in the pads, rip it free and twitch the crap out of it then let it fall on a tight line and repeat!!
  12. It's all I use anymore when it comes to floro! Purchased 3 1000yard spools, very manageable with kvd line and lure, I refuse to pay twice as much for line that was lasting half as long! I will say it performs better on the reel with moving baits like blades or chatter baits as opposed to slower presentations like jigs and worms. With slower presentations, you have to pay a little more attention to detail!!
  13. I'll try to help but I need a little more info. You say you've tried 10 & 12lb, I see the reels you have tried them on, can I ask what rods?? Also, what techniques with which rods and line weight?? Im asking so I can try and equate what I have had success with!
  14. Pretty sure the res is a big brown mess! Might try Burke if the main marina is unfrozen by Sunday!! bull run is free of ice but water is just aweful muddy brown, Lakeridge ramp is not open as it still has a lot of ice in the cove!
  15. Wow! That's an absolute giant for the hot side!! Nice work!!
  16. No reason for the rash buddy, I just pointed out there is no reason to try and rub the fact that there is some semblance of interest in a bank fishing forum in anyone's face. I have no problem with a post that's relevant to the topic at hand, don't air your greavence there! If you want to have a pleasant conversation with Glenn, he will be more than happy to answer your PM! I've done it, lots of folks here have as well with great results. You won't earn any respect by trying to thumb your nose to the man!!
  17. You just made it new again! Congrats! Why make it a point of contention when Glenn has made a decision??? It's a nice thread, contribute to it rather than "look at me and what I found" about the bank fishing forum denial. Counterproductive at best!
  18. I will put that on my calender and we will keep an eye on the weather! I will tell you that if its high and muddy, it will be miserable so keep that in mind!!
  19. They usually change the lock on the Bull Run gate each year at the beginning of March. You would be able to get to and from the splits area that we fished easily on just trolling motor with plenty of great fishing along the way. When were you thinking of trying to get back out here? First tournament of the year is March 20 so anytime before or after if your "grandpa" schedule permits!!
  20. I know guys that are running finder combos that cost more than what I purchased my entire boat, motor and trailer for!! But at the same time, I will out fish on a regular basis! Its always nice to have top of the line gear but knowing how and where to use it are crucial to success. I am running a humminbird 500 series unit that a friend is letting me use. It's nice, an upgrade from my matrix unit I was using prior. I would like a unit that has side imaging, especially for the summer as I tend to target fish in areas others cruise right past! If you feel the unit you have now is lacking or not giving you information you need, it might be time to upgrade!
  21. 10lb sunline supernatural, because it just works!!!
  22. Sonny, thank you!! We had a great time and look forward to doing it again sometime soon!!!
  23. I want everyone to have fun so I'm pretty liberal with info that I have! If you are a "come lately" guy that wants to know particular baits and locations......... You probably won't get the time of day from me, but if I know you have been putting in the time, you will get my best stuff!!
  24. Senko fishing, set the hook on a a small keeper and it breaks off. I sit down, tie on another set up, make a cast right back to the same spot, get a bite, set the hook! Get the fish in the boat, same fish I broke off on still had my hook and senko! Buddy and I fishing a tournament, I'm fighting a fish, he reels in his bait and sets his combo down with the bait a few inches in the water. Nets my fish and as we are weighing and culling, his rod goes in the drink! 23 fow. We scratch our heads for a second and grab baits to drag for his combo. After a few minutes, he snags his line and brings it up. A little. Fish had grabbed his bait and pulled the whole thing over! I guess during the time we were catching fish on that spot, a follower was hanging out under the boat, saw his little creature bait just under the surface next to the boat and thought "here is an easy meal" and took off running! We laughed about that all day!!
  25. Congrats Sonny! A proud grandpa you will be! Prayers for a safe delivery!
