  1. The search tool is your best friend!
  2. Nitro(s), I've been fishing the res for close to 30 years now and the tournaments since they started over 22 years ago! Still get my keister handed to me more often than I care to admit!!
  3. On both the res and river, a smartly retrieved spinnerbait or chatterbait will get you a bite or two. Small jigs and t rigged creature or beaver style baits also do well. Small tubes are a go to this time of year. Look for transition areas and spend a little time picking them apart. Look for downed trees and brushy areas as well.
  4. Sunday should be fun, I always look forward to the first one of the year. Not that we've done well in the opener in a long time! I think it will take quite the sack to place for sure!! Somebody will find them good!!
  5. Don't give too much away!! Looks good! Hope you can stay on them for Sunday!!! only had 3 keepers Sunday. Seems like the dirty water was a little better!! see you Sunday.
  6. I've caught a bunch of stripers there, usually around the end of April to the beginning of May. Drop in at occoquan regional park and turn right headed up to the Rapids. Be careful as you get to the walking bridge as there are some large boulders!
  7. Are you having a problem with mortality rates with your participants? I would make a point of having quality livewells and practice good handling of your tournament catch. I guess it could be used, but why would you penilze anyone for their fish being dead longer than someone else's catch?
  8. Honestly, not sure which one of you is being more childish! IT'S A FISH!! I'm sure you can think of a better use of your time than worrying about a fish pic on some random social media page! If it bothers you that much, stop looking!!
  9. Ordered a rain suite yesterday!!
  10. The launch and out to the main river is no wake primarily so just be aware of that. There are plenty of bass opportunities in the occoquan river! Lots of boat docks for your crappie fix! Bass, perch, shad and striper call that stretch of the river home. It is tidal but that will at times make things very predictable. Just fish anything that looks fishy and you should get some action!! I have not fished there this year but in years past have done well this time of year. I generally downsize my baits to get bites and adjust accordingly!
  11. If you feel the need to fish and are more comfortable getting the boat back on the trailer with the big motor, I would go play on the lower Occoquan in a heartbeat!! Bass are readily available in both the res and the river right now, why play with specs when you can get the big pull from the green trout!!!
  12. That's good stuff! Always nice to catch fish any time of year. What has me stumped is where you heard or read of this "pre spawn myth"
  13. All the info I have read and heard about Huntsman is they have no plan to restock bass any time soon. They shocked and removed as may fish as they could from Royal at the end of September and relocated fish to Barton, Brookfield and Lake Braddock.
  14. I think it depends, if you are really on them and catching good fish, you tend to do what needs doing and stick with it. When you have to really work hard and things become a bit more labored, the little things like boat control and backlashes tend to mount up exponentially!! If you pay attention to the little things and keep the bigger problems to a minimum, the wind becomes the very least of my issues!!
  15. I'm sure if I had met my wife earlier in our lives we would have had kids but it's just the two of us!! It is really fun! Thanks for the reply!
  16. I really hope ole Bob triple sticks does well. I was all in his rookie year here close to DC, I really wanted the skins to finally have a franchise guy. I mean it went horribly wrong with the quickness.
  17. Been using Blue Apron for a couple weeks as the wife and I have been in a rut finding different things for dinner! I must say for the price and convenience it's been pretty cool so far! Gives us quality time as we both go thru the recipe, get everything ready and together to cook, have fun and a glass of wine or beer of bourbon as we cook! Food is fresh and results have been very tasty!! $60 for three meals for 2 people, good proportions, sometimes leftovers the wife takes for lunch the next day! I'm enjoying it so far!!
  18. Fished the res on Sunday. Uplake wasn't bad, not nearly as bad as the weekend before!! I didn't catch, missed a couple bites, not sure if they were bass or ring perch. Buddy caught a couple. Have another friend out today that caught 1 last time I checked with him!! Should be good by the weekend and the weekend we have planned!!
  19. Shouldn't be a problem!
  20. If it hasn't changed, I got it!
