  1. That would be a luckycraft pointer 78 if I had to guess!

    Wow

Sounds like you have the right perspective on things. It's nIce to have a forum to vent and know a lot of friendly people are willing to listen and keep you grounded. I value my time and community here on BR............................ Keeps me warm and fuzzy lol! I basically echo what bluebasser said!!
  3. I find that less aggressive trailers work better in colder water. As the water warms I go bigger and use baits with more action.
  4. Not sure how that fish even swims!!

    Wow

We all go thru many different things in life as we grow as a person. One of the determining factors of how we are judged is how we deal with life's ups and downs. Everyone has their own ways of coping with difficult times. Its up to you to keep all of these things in perspective and as they say "roll with the punches." I'm sure in the back of your mind you know all of this is temporary and that things will sort themselves out in the long run. Smile, be patient, do the things that you know are right, live to fish another day!
  6. Burke is always an option as long as it's not frozen. Just know that fishing is always tough there if you are not familiar with the lake. Shore fishing this time of year at Burke is probably not your best option. You would probably have better luck at one of the many ponds in the area. I don't think many of the ponds in nova are natural, many are older, but not really natural! The best I can tell you is look back thru the nova threads and look for some areas that people have commented on this time of year and give them a go. Many of the places I fish now are not mine to share but still produce some fish. With all of the recent rain, most of the places are going to be cold and muddy, not a good recipe for good fishing this time of year. Find some clean warmer water and you may find some willing fish. (four mile run!)
  7. Been catching fish on a bit of everything. Slow is the key. Some places they bite well, others I get skunked!
  8. 3 other boats out. Guys I see frequently, had similar results.
  9. One of three I got in the boat from the res yesterday. Water is still a bit dirty and surprisingly not terribly cold. Temps about 42-44 degrees. Bites were spaced thru the day.
  10. As many have stated before on this topic, be careful when using pt wood in aluminum boats!
  11. Gotta have my peas on new years day!
  12. Not really my spot to share, sorry. I will say that you should be able to catch fish in any water here in nova due to all of the mild temps.
  13. I would think with the large amount of shad as you have described, these fish can be very picky about what they think is a meal. What I mean to say is, why not eat what you know is real? I fish a lake with a very similar makeup. Maybe not quite the number of crappie but a very large shad forage base. My solution......... Find all of the cover and structure you can and really try to figure out how these fish relate to it. Then match the hatch.
  14. Yep, boat all the way. You will be amazed at the progression you will make as an angler. Small things will start to make more sense once you explore open water. Good luck and don't forget all the safety equipment required by your state. Have fun but be safe!
  15. Depends on what you are fishing out of. Kyak or canoe, no worries. Jon boat or bigger, you may want to rethink that idea.
  16. I'm dizzy.........
  17. My word! NAILED IT!! Im gonna share this with my wife, she is equally gifted in making me feel that fishing is an important part of our lives. I'm sure she will be happy to see that other women have the same thoughts and actions. Thanks for the great insite!
  18. T and Rob were kind enough to show this pond to me this spring and gave me the heads up on the fun Sunday!
  19. Swimmjig trailer yes, not so much on the scrounger. Tends to negate the action of the jighead!
  20. Caught this one and a few more yesterday on small blades and jigs! They will bite, just gotta be patient!
  21. Try the oldham screw lock jigheads and a good slick scent. Should help on most of the veggies! 10lb floro should be enough. I know those cherrywood rods are a bit tippy but you should be able to get a good hookset with the 10lb.
  22. I think psu is looking for advice for ways to let his girlfriend know that fishing is his deal.
  23. NBP brings up a good question............ Is she keeping tabs on you.......... Is this a t!t for t@t relationship.......... If so, you need to have a serious talk with a girlfriend of 5 years. If you want things to last, you need to explain things to her and she needs to be a bit more understanding.
  24. Find someone that is happy that you fish. Also, a lesson I learned the hard way, if you truly care for this girl, pick your battles! Spread your tackle purchases out over a wider spread of time. Works every time. $700 worth of tackle in one fell swoop. I'm sure you could have gone without some of what you purchased!
