  1. Thanks Nitro, offer still stands if you are interested!!
  2. Got out on Burke before Sandy. The lake was about 6ft down and lots of new things to be seen. Bite was tough, caught 5 bass and this nice walleye!
  3. NOVA here! Just a bunch of rain and gusty wind. Just hoping and praying it passes quickly and my big dead tree holds its roots! I'm hoping since it has no leaves, it makes it less likely to catch the big winds later!!
  4. Not looking forward to this storm. We have a rather large dead tree behind our townhouse that is on a hill slightly pointing to give the house a giant karate chop. Our association will not take accountability for it because its not legally on their property. The association whose property it is on is so low rent, it's almost impossible to find anyone to even pick up the phone. I'm so miffed right now, especially since both associations have been aware of this issue for almost a year now. Made it thru the duracho but that was just a brief downburst of wind. Wonder what will happen with three days of tropical storm force wind will do plus 3 to 6 inches of rain!! Very excited................. not at all!!
  5. I cannot imagine that would be very good for nurturing a healthy home life!!
  6. Bassn, those are exactly the two things that I thought would make great Christmas gifts!! Father in law gets the door mat, business partner gets the business cards!!
  7. Crew boats and the minions that follow them shouting instructions thru a bullhorn at crack thirty on a beautyful summer morning................. please do not get me started. I love it when they row right between you and the bank and the jugheads in the clever little chase boat follow closely behind. The part I like the best is when they look at you like you are in their way........ Most of the college teams that use the res to practice and compete are very aware of the fishermen and do their best to go around. The highschoolers on the otherhand are truly irritating and condesending. Usually some little kid, barely able to control the small outboard and yell instructions at the same time. Especially dangerous on foggy mornings! Sam has the right idea. Find out who is responsible and let them know when the incident occured.
  8. I looked at the main park ramp yesterday and see no reason why you wouldn't be able to drop in right there. I am dying to get out there right now but have the next two weekends booked up with other obligations! Then I'm heading to Wisconsin for a long weekend to see the inlaws so it is unlikely I will be out there until the middle of November sometime. Let us know if you get out and how you do!
  9. If it's not frozen, I'm trying!!
  10. Plus the res is 9.9hp limit! You can drop a big boat in, just TM only after that. Plus Fountainhead has boat rentals.
  11. Oh my lord that looks nice. Like J said, pics or it's not real!!
  12. Comparing a 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 oz tungsten with lead of the same weight, you are going to see a fairly substantial difference. Less bulk makes it less awkward to do things like punching mats as iabass mentioned. The positive feedback is in my opinion, gives you a better feel, when pegged, as to what your bait is banging around and thru. Line has a lot to do with it as well, but I just think I have a better idea about where my bait is going thru with tungsten. I also think you are over thinking the whole weight thing.................. Which is heavier? A pound of feathers or a pound of lead?!?!
  13. My answers to your questions as to how I view tungsten. 1- I prefer tungsten weights without the inserts. Not because of the perceived "feel" but because I have encountered line fray with them. 2- I use a stopper type to peg them. 3- Weights are equivalent, difference is in s(703) 810-5217ize. 4- 1/8,3/16,1/4,3/8,1/2 all have a time and place. 5- I have only seen terminator jigs that were made of tungsten. Others are possibly made, just not sure by who! Hope this helps. I think the big advantage to the tungsten is reduction in size, especially the larger sizes and the positive feedback.
  14. Welcome! What part of Va??
  15. That would be great. I will keep an eye on the level to make sure it's good to go!
  16. If its still accessible after the completed drawdown, find a weekend the first part of December and make a trip out here!!
  17. Nitro, the deepest spots I have graphed are around 33-35 feet deep. I hope I can still get out there as well after the complete drawdown. In the winter this is one great place to fish. The big fish will group up on brush piles and destroy jigs!!
  18. Went by Burke today to check the water levels and to my surprise, water is down nearly 4 feet!! Park employees said a dam renovation project was getting started and they were drawing the lake level down to make it easier to improve the dam against storm runoff. The water level is going to be close to 6 feet lower during the upgrade to the dam. Project is supposed to be ongoing for 3-4 months! They also said that the ramps my not be able to be used if the water levels make it too difficult to launch boats. I sure hope I can get my little jon in there with the low water levels come November and December!!!
  19. Quill beat me to it! Feast or famin!
  20. One of the things that gets me thru the winter......... so bitter! I hope they try and reach some kind of resolution before it reaches the point of no return.
  21. Sounds like you guys had a great time! I wish I could have been able to attend but had previous commitment scheduled! We need pics, especially if Sam said endless smiled!! Lol!!
  22. It's going to be great. I'll keep an eye out for the "perfect" outboard for ya!!
  23. I always look for one when I fish, in fact, when I hear something crunching around in the woods I always call out "BIGFOOT!!!???" hoping I get a response. I figure I should get a response if they have been so elusive for so long the must be highly intelligent and capable of communicating!!
  24. Second vote for de la familia! I've worked my way thru 4 bottles now and I need another!
  25. Not sure you can pinpoint a time frame your vehicle was tampered with unless you just dumped the boat in and jumped back off your boat at the ramp and looked at the damage. Is that how it happened, because the way you told the story was confusing??!!
