  1. That weird. All of your calls or just some??
  2. We have a buddy club tournament series. One time fee per year of $10 per person to pay for insurance. 15 or so events a year and a 2 day end of the year classic if you finish in the top 15. For the most part drama free. We have been doing it for 25 years now and you don't have to do anything but show up if you want to fish!!
  3. Sulfites in wine will do that to you, some more than others!! Virginia has some really nice offerings, wife and I are members of a couple wineries, we peruse the pet friendly wineries, nice way to spend a Saturday with my wife and dog and people watching is always a bonus in the summer!! Paradise Springs in Clifton Va and Otium in Purcellville are fun! Purcellville also has Cotoctin Creek distillery which has come good stuff!!
  4. They are so in between right now with all the rain we have had and the fluctuating temps. I would think with the heat moving in and post spawn wrapping up for the most part, they will be out deep very quickly!! There were a few guys that still found some spawners during the tournament this past Sunday!!!
  5. Didn't know they restocked Huntsman. I know it was supposed to have been re-populated with the the fish they removed and put in Mercer but that was a future endeavor by the county.
  6. My "EX" wife was exactly like that. I was her only source of entertainment. As much as I tried to "find" her friends and hobbies, she would just turn up her nose. It was very frustrating and ultimately was the reason we got a divorce. That was 8 years of my life that I will never get back! It's difficult to try and live ones life for another person, if she's unwilling to compromise, allow you your time and not have or want interests and time for her self, all I can say is good luck to you, it's a very tough road to hoe!!
  7. First time I have ever put serious time behind a frog out there and it was crazy!! I wish I had pics of my best fish, the number of giants that I missed or lost was truly heart breaking!! I think I can fine tune a few things and keep a few more hooked up in the future!!
  8. With the interwebz and a smart phone, most fishing licenses are just a couple clicks away!!
  9. For my partner and I it was all about finding a little bit cleaner water. When I looked at the ramp at fountainhead on Saturday morning I wasn't sure what Sunday's fishing would be like. We tried fishing the really stained water but couldn't get any bites. Went further down, found some better looking water and slowly started figuring them out. Couple guys I know caught a few Saturday but they were all below fountainhead, tough to get to with just a TM, especially with the wind!!
  10. The res is on fire!! We had our second tournament of the year and it was another slugfest! First place was a 6 fish limit of 29+ with a 7.04 kicker! We had another 2, 7 pounders weighed in yesterday with another about a paper clip shy of 7!!
  11. Got a pic of my piggy from Sunday's tournament. My partners fish was a 5+ and the fish in my right hand is a high 3 pounder!!
  12. I wouldn't think you need to fish deep out there right now. You can probably find the close to deep water but like Wayne said, fish have been fairly shallow for a good while now!! I think a bunch of fish moved up with that warm spell at the start of March and stayed up even after it got chilly again.
  13. Well, the first tournament on the reservoir is in the books and boy was it a good one!! Once again the record was set for 6 fish limit with 33+ pounds!! We also had 3 fish over 7 pounds weighed in!! My partner and I were fortunate enough to finish 3rd and take big fish!! 26+ lbs and big fish was a 7.56!! My new PB!! We had 35 boats participate which makes that place fish really small. I didn't get any pictures but will see if I can't find one that some friends took!!
  14. It's been a really nice winter so far having the ability to get out just about every weekend. Here in northern va, we have been able to target fish consistently for sure with water temps around 50 so far this week. Not sure it's "pre spawn" per say. I think more along the lines of a number of fish taking advantage of nice weather!!!
  15. The Occoquan reservoir is steady kicking out some really nice fish. Myself and several friends are catching good numbers of 3-5 pound fish on mainly jerkbaits with a few on spinnerbaits and dropshots!
  16. Caught these 3 yesterday on the Occoquan reservoir!!
  17. Yep, I put stuff like this along the lines of "if your social security number was a dollar amount, how much money would you have" type of question!!
  18. We know good and well the reservoir harbors very few kayakers with "situational awareness" other than "oh look over there" as they paddle right across your line!!
  19. Yep, it is!! No better way to ruin a perfect summer morning that's for sure!! The paddle boarders are getting to be a pain! Nothing like rounding a cornere and have an entire gaggle of them lined up from bank to bank!! And now swimming in the res, what a bunch of hooey! All under the guise of ooops, lost my balance!!!!
  20. Yes! Apologies and rant over! A-Jay, everything you have said is correct and I thank you for allowing me to vent my frustrations. Likelihood of change, small at best since my age is the only thing that changes!!! Always a new batch of HS kids each and every year!!!
  21. I get it, "kill them with kindness!" Maybe I'll get a GoPro and make a video of some of the "entitled" rowers out there! Ive played the kindness card for quite some time and most of the time it's met in kind, however, when you have kids operating and telling the high school crew boats "don't worry about them, they'll move" through a megaphone when they have plenty of water to go around, it gets a little contentious at times. Complaints to the coaches and even the schools they are attached to often result in their laughter at the situation. This often occurs during tournaments conducted on the reservoir. It's not a perfect world, I know this, common courtesy is lost on some of these people and I know, I don't have to fish there but at the same time, I can do what I feel is within my rights as a paying user of the waterway to let these folks know, pay attention and if you respect my ability to be there I will do the same!!
  22. Dont get me wrong A-jay, I appreciate the solution! Maybe I just need to be a little more patient with others on a multi use facility where I do most of my fishing. Perhaps invest in a rechargeable air horn since the rowers have the idea that being backwards in a boat give them cart blanch to go wherever they want!!!
  23. Wow, pretty cool idea Wayne, something to keep in mind when I catch that new PB or one with incredible markings. If I had an older pic, could your wife "sharpen" the look of the fish??? Old picture, better resolution??
  24. The reservoir is owned by the water authority. The public launches are owned by their respective county and regional park authorities so those are pretty much out. The one community owned launch has signs stating it is closed at dark and the neighborhood surrounding it is a little sketchy at best and wouldn't want to entertain that!! There are a few other private community launches, but I don't have access to them. If I knew someone that lived in those communities, I would definitely take advantage of those for sure!!!
  25. On that particular body of water, I wish that was possible!! If I lived on the reservoir and had access, I could do it but all the public ramps close at dark!
