  1. This is a great question. I’ve had FFS for almost 3 years and I think it’s frustrated me more than anything. First year I spent way too much time trying and thinking I could effectively target the fish I want, I use it more now to find the right scenarios I want, and just go about fishing for the fish that are present. Evidently I suck at targeting and seeing my lure!
  2. Jimbo (Bubba to me) used to fish the Occoquan reservoir with us! He is top notch one of the best people I’ve ever had the privilege to call a friend!! Tell him little Jon says hey!
  3. Wow, that’s awesome!! I’m glad you got on them, the jb is always on my boat, year round. Keep crushing them!!
  4. It’s fairly shallow already, incredible that they spent all that money to do what they did. Top end (off huntsman and goldenball) is only about 5’, much deeper down closer to the dam. Wish I could give you an idea about what to throw and where but I haven’t really put any time in down there this spring good luck though, supposed to be a pretty nice day!
  5. I’ve had a soul patch for 25+ years, weird to think about shaving it at this point, guess I’ll keep it…..
  6. Pretty good population of snakeheads in there as well. Caught a bunch of small bass last summer and fall in there. Still not even remotely close to what it was before they drained it
  7. It’s never a simple or easy thing to do, may the happy memories and the best of times carry you through

  9. I’ve kinda jumped the the higher heat, more bite rye’s and bourbons/whisky. This has been a fun journey looking for as many of the small batch quarterly releases of Booker’s
  10. I’ve found it down here for $25, might have been on sale though, hope you enjoy it
  11. I find it lacking much of anything, I feel as if it’s been watered down.
  12. Nice fish!!! To bad it’s not a recent pic!!! Leaves on the trees are a dead give away!!?
  13. Cold and dirty, nothing to see here, move along............. stay off my res..........
  14. I have a few friends that fish Smith fairly regularly, some good fish in there but tough!!
  15. I’ve had some serious run ins with them!! To be fair, most of them have zero clue about etiquette on the water but there are quite a few that do and will make an effort to “go around” you. The problems that I encounter the most are the “kids coaching kids” out there. They will tell you that they have been told to stay on the right side of the water and that’s about it. They take that to mean they have the right of way and it your problem to get out of their way which couldn’t be further from the truth. To say they have run between the bank and my boat any less than 20-30 times a season is an understatement. When they get close, I ask them to pay attention next time and that they were well aware of my location hundreds of yards away with plenty of time and distance available to not have to do what they just did. Sometimes this is met with the”I’ll do better next time” but that is often time the exception rather than the rule. We have taken the solution of an air horn and used it on occasion to warn them. The singles and doubles are very good about avoiding us, it’s the 8’s nod the chase boats that are the biggest problem. Very difficult to reason with hem when they think they own the water!!
  16. I've got 25+ years on that body of water, it was bound to payoff and start to make sense at some point!!!
  17. You guys are killing me!! Went out Sunday and ran mostly community spots and caught 10 good fish with 2 over 5 lbs!! It is difficult to play in the summer deep without electronics for sure. If for no other reason that it will help you eliminate water more than anything!! If you are fishing where there are no fish, tough to catch them!! Not saying your graph will "see" every fish available but summertime out there usually means groups of fish feeding on the large schools of shad. The upper stretches of the reservoir can and will produce fish but in the summer there are more deep water opportunities down lake. If you like throwing to targets then the top end is great for sure!!
  18. We had an 8 pounder weighed in for yesterday's tournament!!
  19. They did put the fish from Huntsman into Mercer but I don't think improved the fishing there very much! I've fished it a few times this year but haven't caught any, none!!
  20. Princess Bride has to be up there! But Forest Gump is probably it for me!
  21. Wow, been a while since I've played in the general forum!! Couldn't help but see a bit of "jeez, really??!!" In the responses, even when in jest!! I fish a buddy tournament series and have had the same partner for over 10 years, I want him tod catch just as many fish as I do, if not more. We bounce ideas of each other constantly through the day, giving the most stupid minute details about each and every bite we get!!! It's fishing, why wouldn't you want your buddy to do well and have a good time??? Glad my circle of fishing friends is small, some of you guys would really not be fun to fish with, sorry....
  22. Any of you guys wanting to learn to fish deep during the summer on the res, now is the time!! Buddy caught one close to 8 and we have been steady whooping them deep on points and deeper breaks!! Go get you some!!!! DM for some advice!!
  23. I would lookin settings and make sure your phone number is not listed as the number to your sons phone if that makes sense. Otherwise I would get in touch with your carrier to make sure the numbers are correct for each phone. Also see if your phone is not forwarded to your sons phone!
