  1. Hi Folks, Had to sell my Tracker 165 w/ 40 merc 4 stroke, due to divorce and am looking forward to getting another boat. I've just about decided I want one at least 19' with enough motor to get it on plane quickly then run economically. Loved the little 165, as I used it for some small pond fishing and local water reservoirs, and plan on using the new one for the same so have to stay 20 ft. or less. Only problem with the 165 was it was a little cramped and I can't get around that well in such a small boat. Am leaning toward the Tracker again, as I feel they are a good buy for the money, lighter, easier to tow & maintain, and cheaper than f'glas. Am also looking at the nitro's from BPS. Would just like any input you guys might provide as there is much wisdom out there. Would like all suggestions as to boat, motor, equipment I can't live without, etc. And thank all you guys for your input. This forum has been a Godsend to me, since I'm a disabled vet and don't get to fish a lot, but when I'm not fishing I'm studying the forums! Keep up the good work you guys! God Bless!
  2. Had a great day on the lake yesterday. Caught 'em all day long on everything from the dead ringer, crankbait and rattle trap! Caught over 40 and most of them were about 2#. Caught a few 3 and one 4 pounder and kept enough to filet for dinner tonight. Sweet! Also caught a 5# striper, which is really small for that species, BUT they fight like they're 20 pounders, especially on lighter tackle. Seems like if you can get out there, you can catch 'em. Caught most of them in about 8-10 feet along creek channels. Hope ya'll are fortunate enough to get out there amongst 'em and good luck to all!
  3. Found a place going out of business in FL and got one at a steal! Don't cry, I only paid $51 for it! I've had shoulders replaced and have been doing strictly spinning to avoid the pain, but had to give this a try. Got the burner in salt water version and have been using for just about everything! Can't believe how good the b/c have gotten! Was used to the ole Ambassadors. It's really been fun slingin' the ole spools. Got a Catalyst ptsi 20 from the same place for $49! Yes, there is a God!
  4. Just fished one today. I would suggest you try casting parallel to the banks. Started out throwing a white in-line spinner, like a rooster tail, then switched to 4" zoom chartreuse pepper dead ringer and also used small bream colored rattletrap. Tore 'em up! Think I caught about 30 in the 2-4 lb. range. Best day I've had in a while! We've got a front coming through tonight and with clouds and nice wind, who could ask for more! Best of luck!
  5. Surprised no one has suggested trying some topwater baits, especially if there is a little wind. Just an idea.
  6. I've got an old BPS model ETX1000 LPSB reel and the drag has gone kput! It's either locked down or totally off. Was wondering if ya'll thought it was worth having repaired or just replacing it with something else??? BPS now has their extremes on sale for $50, so don't know if this one is worth fixing or not. Other than the drag, the reel works well. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks ya'll!
  7. Hey Folks! Was having problems with the snap/swivels on my spinnerbaits sliding up to the blades when casting/retrieving. (Started using swivels to prevent line twists) Found an easy and inexpensive solution to this problem. Had some extra rubber skirt bands in my box so started putting it on the bend where you attach your line, then just hook on the snap/swivel! Works flawlessly now! Hope you're able to use this tip. ;D
