  1. For the cast control knob, I adjust it so that lure falls at a slow speed but you know you got it right when the you have the spool stop spinning right when the lure hits the ground. (Thought this would help you know what everyone means by slowly, but this might not be the same definition everyone else has)
  2. I would've thought rear wheel is preferred for hauling. It's getting the boat out of the water on a wet ramp where the front wheel drive will come in handy. I would be a little embarrassed, but that's just me. Yea thats what i was referring too, especially for ramps that are not paved well where your tires could be in muck
  3. make sure it has front wheel drive
  4. I plan on using swimbaits in the weight range and I got the Cabelas XMLTi rod, 7' mh 3/8-2oz designed for carolina rigging. I figured since I am only throwing small swimbaits, could make it a multipurpose rod with sensitivity being focus of the rod makers over just pure backbone. You seem to want a dedicated rod for swimbaits, but I would still consider this rod, very light and good components.
  5. I like going to the left so when I have other people in the boat I worry less about hitting them.
  6. I like mine just because I dont have to worry about scratching it ;D
  7. What kind of fight to these giant bass give when you hook them?
  8. It says they are putting him in charge of new rods in lures in mid level dept, does that mean the new stuff he makes will be under megabass name or Daiwa?
  9. Always good to have more mid level rod options
  10. Dicks Sporting goods carries them
  11. When twitching jerkbaits are you supposed to snap to the right and left or just any kind of snap on slack line. I can snap it to the right while holding the rod with left hand but cant snap it back to the left.
  12. I have the same situation and although I have yet to buy it, I plan on getting this one http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0043804122116a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=shimano+rod+carrier&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1 Bantam says it can hold 8 rods with reels. I was looking at the second one also but the reviews on the basspro site werent so hot. Also the shimano one is less bulky and cheaper
  13. Cabelas XML Ti, only the ones with handle D, just got one, looks good but have not had a chance to use it yet. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0030280119418a&navCount=2&podId=0030280&parentId=cat20372&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat20372&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20372&hasJS=true
  14. I was at the Hartford one last month, I thought the layout and selection of stuff was pretty poor. But if you go there looking for big stuff like rods and reels and they dont have it they'll ship it to your house at no charge. But if you go their looking to browse save your time and gas.
  15. What brand would you guys say has the best natural looking skirt patterns? I dont think the fish are getting bored with the white and chart colors but I kind of am ;D
  16. The rod socks protect them but whats a good thing to keep them bundled together for easy transport?
  17. Anyone try the IMA Flit?
  18. Dont the paint jobs on Lucky Crafts usually break down quicker? I am pretty sure you would be replacing these more often than some others that are cheaper if how they look are important to you.
  19. Planning on getting more serous this year so probably gonna throw a little of everything to try all the new stuff I got over the fall and winter. A mattlures bluegill swimbait will probably be at the top of the list though followed by some topwater
  20. Recently just bought a new XML TI rod from Cabelas and since they didnt have the rod in stock they shipped it to my house at no charge which I thought was pretty cool. In the CT store, browsing the floor for new lures can be tricky and I dont think they have nearly the in-store of what they have online, but I like the fact I can avoid shipping by picking stuff up in store if I order ahead of time. No experience with BPS and local shops in my area specialize in river striper fishing. However i think DICKS is great a t keeping lures in stock and somewhat underrated
  21. Is Megastrike supposed to be available at Dicks? I found your Cavitron lures but couldn't find the scent, wondering if I'm wasting my time looking there for it. Thanks
  22. Same deal for me this past Sunday. My dad got employee shopping deal from a friend and I ended up getting a Symetre FI for about 55 dollars. Was looking for the new FJ but was disapointed with their selection but still happy to get what I did along with some of my first lucky crafts.
  23. What kind of damage can be done when rod is stored laying down on a shelf? I dont have a rack to keep them upright and I think lyin flat is better than leaning against the wall, right?
  24. The Lunker Punker was recommended, just wondering what classifies this as a swimbait that makes it different from say spooks or sammys? Sorry to hijack your thread bu this has been driving me nuts
  25. Awesome looking
