  1. yeah well our walmarts only sell junk. hoping that when i go to get it... they will even have the right one that i want.. and THEN pray for a sale. lol.
  2. i think its alot more to do with covering your scent. coffee does it very well. just ask drug sniffing dogs. also i think i saw a pro team journal where kvd was saying that using a natural ingredient like coffee was how SK was getting the cool colors that they were acheiving with the coffee tubes.
  3. i cant buy a bass bite on a tube. i dont know why. kills me cause i have a ton of them and i fish alot of grass... inshore though, i beat the tar out of speckled trout though with strike king magnum tubes in pumpkin. jigging or under a cork.
  4. i flip it mostly with no more than a 1/4oz weight... letting it have most of the action on the fall. the less weight you have the more it glides. like the rest said its kinda of a fast moving thing. let if fall...bump it... pick it up. they make pretty good c-rig baits too...................
  5. i have 6 quantums and havent really had any lube problems except when i got my accuristpt it had NO oil on the spool bearings. i took it out and lucky i didnt burn it up. since then i have actually been using penn reall oil on all of them and havent had a single issue. however i havent really put any greese on any of them and as i have no hot sauce i think i will wait till i feel its totally needed to do so. my saltwater accurist has been in nothing but saltwater for probably a year and has had no lube problems whatsoever. its probably the best reel i own and thats including my tour edition pt. i am also interested in reel mechs response to this. not so much about how much hot sauce sux....everyone on here thinks quantum sux so whatever...but more along the lines of if i cant get ahold of any hot sauce... how to trully clean it in order to use what i have....
  6. another vote for a flat back canoe/gheenoe. they are awesome.
  7. thank you. i just realized i think that the length i was using may be only half what im supposed to be... thanx!
  8. hahah cant beleive i missed that............
  9. now that i think about it i think i got wileys confused with fishgillz. im looking into getting them... a place here has them for like 38bucks or something. i havent payed more than 15bucks for a pair of sunglasses ever and im still tryin to talk myself into this 40dollar thing. i know better lenses better sight yadda yadda yadda. i always scratch my glasses within the first month of getting them and then end up breaking them in 4 months or so... so no cdm for me.
  10. that looks cool as all hell.
  11. yeah... didnt mean it that way. lol. it seems light and sensitive...i guess i meant strong instead of stiff. for the price of course.
  12. i have had six old round black max reels and they cast and reel and just fine. all of them though, have had the same problem with the levelwind. it gets wore out and sticks to one side for a few turns and that REALLY doesnt agree with braid. i used them for saltwater as an inshore "big" reel. they were good. i too was going to use one of the slightly newer ones to crank with but then i got an awesome quantum mg... and so thats that.
  13. im actually considering getting one for cranking. i only heavy crank a few months a year and am not going to use that reel for anything else. i figure that ive heard enough good things about them that it should last for what i want to use it for. i havent found any other rod cept maybe the shimano convergence that is that light and stiff for 40 bucks. and i cant find a convergence anymore.....
  14. im thinking of wileyx myself. theyre allegedly good quality, they are WAY cheaper... and they float.
  15. the material is like 20 strands with a solid space then more strands wrapped around a card. not seperated. my plan was to cut it to length, put the skirt facing the head of the bait, wrapping it around... and then glue the flat part of the skirt down. then i was going to just roll the collar around the hook and over the keeper and it should roll onto the flat part of the skirt nicely. this i assume should make the skirt bloom out pretty well when its moving forward. i tried this but didnt have the super glue and elmers just wasnt holding it. lol.... at all. got frustrated and gave up tonight.
  16. i have quite a bit. not all what i want though... ive been lucky enough(?) that both boaters wold and sportsmans warehouse went out of business in my town so i got about 500 dollars worth of stuff for around 200. id estimate probably 30lbs. bunch of stuff i dont care about though... some of it given to me. shane you want to get rid of some of those beavers.......ill take em... lol. ;D
  17. im confused at the remark on the ike rod. my friend got one and put a revo sx on it and its every bit as light... if not lighter... than my compre/kvd rig. quite honestly if i were going to buy a rod in that price range and didnt care about the shimano warranty....id get an ike. it felt great.
  18. hahah no no... i have skirt material. the guy gave me a decent amount of it in various colors... im just not used to putting it on. i normally buy all in one skirts like strike king perfect skirts or whatever.. and havent really laid out my own skirt strand by strand before. i think i have a plan but would still like to hear suggestions!
  19. well, i have recently came into ALOT of old spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and was wondering what tricks you guys use to reskirt them. for my own use i normally just buy expensive all in one skirts you know and slip them on but in this case repairing all these things would be too expensive. there are way too many to keep really and i am considering giving them out to people or maybe selling them at a yard sale or something. they came with some skirt material and a tool that looked like a pair of pliers that i suppose you put the collar on with but it had no collars. what collars do you guys like? alternatives? tricks to make them stay put.. etc.??? thanx
  20. i wouldnt even know where wal mart was located if i had a dicks sporting goods near me.

    C-Rig

well i fish a crig a whole lot and catch a mess of fish on it on lake seminole here in fla. you got the right set up though you may want to try a 3/4oz as mentioned. lizards and worms and craws work well but dont be afraid to use just about anything. i typically drag mine with the rod a few feet at a time to get the feel of the bottom and find some trash and then work the area with a hopping retrieve too. good luck !
  22. hmmm.. this information seems to have confirmed some thigns for me. i recently got some berkly 100% on clearence and put it on my t-rig rod to test out. it has performed well and far above my experiences with flouro in the past. however... i still cant justify the price difference. what has been posted here and my own opinions seems to point to me continuing using yozuri hybrid. or any copoly. less expensive than flouro...better than mono. thank you. i almost had myself talked into another spool of flouro.
  23. wal marts here dont even carry quantum stuff. or any real bass stuff for that matter....just cheap stuff. i almost died the other day when i saw some paca craws there. hahha. oh and btw. there is absolutely nothing wrong with quantum. i own 7 from the tour edition to the kvd model and all are reliable fantastic reels. every reel maker has a budget line and they all mostly suck. dont knock the Q. ;D
  24. i used them exclusively for years... and in retrospect i guess the problems i had with them i didnt realize cause i didnt know any better. i would say that the quality issues are that they arent as sharp as slightly higher priced competetors and that they rust quickly IF NOT TAKEN CARE OF. i cant not think of a time that i straightend a lazersharp ewg on a fish. what the hell are you guys doing to your fish? ;D nowadays i use gammys only and liek i said its because for just a bit more money you get a vastly superior hook. and as stated before.. its not the place you want to scimp if you can help it.
  25. i like the bandit100's and the norman thin n's. havent ran the shallow sk's but i LOVE the series 5's and 6's and im sure that the shallow ones are just as good. who can afford lucky crafts? hahah
