  1. Yeah. ..as stated above, its not so much the SPEED you're trying to change in this situation, its the torque you're trying to compensate for. The low ratio makes deep cranking comfortable.
  2. If you're going to go aluminum. ..... save yourself the trouble and get an XPRESS.
  3. 100% agree. Punch with the revo. Its also a metal frame is it not? That's a plus. Left handed is trully the way to go for punching. Just make sure you turn your reel sideways as you pull your line out, or your slack may catch on your reel handle.
  4. ^ I've been driving my kayak for 5 years now on top of my Cherokee with no bow or stern lines. And my tarpon has solid handles. I just haven't felt the need for them. Even at 65mph. I do have Yakima crossbar though. .....so its pretty solid.
  5. ^ no. ....it will work fine. Many thousands of dd22s have been fished on 10# biggame. They're like peas and carrots. The issue isn't if it will work. ....its that there are "better " options now.
  6. I like the tk130s from trokar. ...... but I have also really been digging the vmc hooks. DSG sometimes puts them on super clearence. I loaded up when I found them $1.50 a pack.
  7. Gotcha. ....I know where you were. Well good on ya man- its been super tough like I said! Did you end up getting any on topwater?
  8. Beautiful red c&g .....glad to see you got to go! Hey man. ...be happy. Inshore has been tough as hell lately. Whereabouts did you catch these fish?
  9. I wouldn't put it on a traditional shakey head. ..... but if you put it on a 3/4oz football jighead and fish it on offshore humps and points - hold on tight. .....
  10. I live in Florida. I throw 15# YZ hybrid for almost everything. I've done this for quite a few years now. I rarely use conditioner.
  11. I feel anytime I would throw a spinnerbait, I can still catch fish on topwater. Overcast or slightly breezy. ..etc. I like spooks, chug bugs and pop R's. I'm simple.
  12. Keep them in the original package. Heat the screwlock up with a lighter before you thread your elaztech bait on it. Catch alot of fish on the same bait. Repeat.
  13. I recently turned 40 and went to a music festival for the firat time in years. It made me fairly retrospective of my musical life, and so i came home and compiled a list of bands I've seen. .... and I was fairly surprised to find out I've seen 102 popular artists. Lol. Many of them multiple times. I like all kinds of music- from 80s pop, 70-80s country to death metal. Even some hip hop and rap ( very little) . I love answering the favorite band question because it always forces me to struggle with my tastes. Lol. A little list of bands that ALWAYS appeal to me no matter my current listening. .... Zeppelin Beatles Metallica Pantera The black crowes Black Sabbath Alabama Cake .....I'm all over the place! Lol.
  14. Man that's a beautiful ride. Congrats!
  15. I'd save the time and money and have my eyes set on a sit on top. There is little to no reason to own a sit inside in Florida. Well. ....except they're cheap. Lol. You'll be alot happier with a sit on top.
  16. Oh. ....OK. ....well the carbonlite being 6.4 changes things a little. Well not really, but iI feel better about the advice. Lol. 6.4 is plenty fast enough for your moving baits, and you should use the fast ratio for your plastics. Honestly though. .... the question you're asking has less to do with ratio- and more to do with inches per turn (ipt) . Ipt is relevent to the speed in which you want to efficiently perform a technique. Ratio is relevent to the amount of work YOU want to do to accomplish that speed.
  17. I run hybrid 12-15 on all my freshwater rods and ultrasoft 15 on my inshore rods. Its all I buy. Has been for years. Can't imagine being happier. (Braid rods (3), excluded)
  18. Glad you dig it. Great fish! I cannot bring myself to fish a rod less than 7' on my yak. A 6'6" doesn't allow me to work the fish around the front of the boat- and that's a deal breaker for me. Every yak is different though.....
  19. Mmm....of the two I would use the carbonlite for your topwater/spinnerbaits.
  20. Yup. I use it exclusively. All my topwaters, freshwater and inshore. (Well except super heavy cover where I use braid. ..)
