  1. ive only thrown that color on cranks and traps.... but it seems to work well for me in both clear and dirty water. i think its life like enough for clear water... and the chart. line down the side is flashy enough for stained/murky water. truthfully its my go to color crank now. *shrug*
  2. i recently started carolina rigging them.
  3. we have 4 walmarts here... and one more 20 miles away.... and none of them care rage products. > the only good thing i got on the clearence was Mann's frogs for a dollar. i got all they had.
  4. x2 also if youre new to elaztech..... do not under any circumstances put those baits with any others that you own. keep them in the package they came in. they will react with regular plastic baits and turn itself and them into a pile of goo. they are great baits though. enjoy!!
  5. i have spent alot of time in canoes and in the general, easy to find catagory... an old town wide bottom is hard to beat. they are super stable and very durable. not hard to paddle. the real problem with wider bottom boats is current and wind. its a trade off. i have many many times, and still do... stand up and fish for bass in a 16' old town.
  6. that must be the answer cause i cant even catch a cold on a jig. i KNOW they are fish killers... i just cant seem to be in the right place at the right time i guess. ive only had three bites on a jig and all of them got off. (good fish too!!) i think im going to set down the t-rig this summer and throw a jig alot more.
  7. for what its worth man...one way to fish it that you already know and can relate to is to fish it like a soft jerk bait. cast it out let it sink a bit... then jerk three times...let it sink... about 8 to 10 seconds... jerk jerk jerk. repeat. its not the "classic deadstick" way to fish it... but it works for me that way on occasion. the secret to MOST of the senkos appeal is the fall. find ways to make it fall. thas pretty much it. like others said... its mostly just throwing it and coming up with your own way to fish it. there is trully no "wrong" way. p.s. dont let the short fuses exibited here scare you off the site. this place is great. you just have no idea how many times a week a "new" senko question is asked on here. ;D
  8. ive been using powerpro yellow for topwater presentations mostly in saltwater and i like it alot. on a super long cast it makes keeping an eye on your lure better. also when that topwater strike happens at the end of a long cast i can actually see my line moving even before i feel it on the braid. that is awesome. it keeps me from setting the hook on missed strikes and ruining the moment. my only draw backs with yellow braid has been that the color bleeds incesently. it gets on your guides and fingers. this doesnt bother me in saltwater as a) im already wearing gloves and 99% of my saltwater fishing is done with uglysticks and the aluminum guide inserts wipe clean, and i dont care cause its a 60 dollar rod and not my crucial. good stuff though. p.s. ive worked it out (in my mind anyway) that yellow line is harder to see looking up at the sky than darker colored line is. just like fish are colored lighter on the bottom. i think it silouettes less. may just be me. the yellow line works great for me on speckled trout and they see as good if not way better than a bass does.
  9. i dont know... ive ridden in two bass cats... dont know the models... and then i ride in a ranger every weekend. the bass cats seem cheap to me. i mean.. they ride good and everything... but like mentioned before all the brands have great boats at high price points. it just seemed the basscats were a bit cheap feeling to me. and the neon grab handles? ick. they gonna put spinners on the trailer tires next? for me with no limit on money id have to get a ranger or triton.
  10. its topwater all the time here. i like horny toads and buzzbaits. its great explosions plus sometimes you get that wake when you see them coming out of the pads mand you know its going to happen....
  11. black or junebug in water with any color to it. watermellon/red flake clear water. those would be my "if you could only have three colors" answer. lol
  12. ive had some good bites fishing a white shad colored pure poison like a trap- over weeds and jerking it free.
  13. i have been using 15lb big game to back my braid and even the one reel i had flouro on. its a large diameter so it doesnt take too much time to half fill my reel, then i just put the main line on top of it. i have never gotten down to the knot, so i have just been clinch knotting it, three wraps to make the knot small. im sure if i ever got "spooled" by a bass, id be upset my knot failed.... but really, when does this happen? in the saltwater though, i respool totally every year for braid, turning it over 6 mos. in.... and respool every 3mos or so on my yozuri hybrid reels. you can and probably will get spooled inshore.
  14. i have one of those old quantum iron's too!!! its my deep cranking reel. its great and casts forever. im going to start throwing a quantum 1420 mgc classic, whichis kinda an "inbetween" reel. also still have a cardiff 100a that is a freaking dream. dont use it that much though cause i dont have the right rod worthy of it yet. lol. its on an old allstar and i use it for "finess" redfishing. lol
  15. x2
  16. graphite frames are plenty strong enough to catch bass in 99% of situations. the only time i think i would "worry" about it would be punching mats with 60lb braid. i have a few pinnacle solene reels that are graphite and they have caught plenty of fish. they are great. remember.... most reels 10 years ago were made on graphite frames. they worked fine.
  17. its not so much that the bait rips "clean" really. its that when youre fishing a trap this way... youre going for a reaction strike.. not a feeding bite. most traps will come through most weeds with stalks rather cleanly. if youre ripping from one grass top though and it hangs the next, many times the next time you rip it is when the bass hits... even though you KNOW that theres some grass on it. the fish is hitting it just to make sure it doesnt get away. its not taking the time to look at it and say.. "why is that shad toting around that grass? is it building a nest?" i think of bass alot like cats... if you move something odd or fast away from a cat... they jump on it. not cause theyre hungry... because they are predators.
  18. its been my experience that green power pro bleeds the least, if at all. yellow braid.... of all 4 types ive used... bleeds pretty bad. i use yellow powerpro for my saltwater topwater rod. its great. leaves yellow in my guides though.
  19. i disagree. i think that stained cork looks pretty cool. means the rod has been around the block. its like a badge. besides, you can clean it right up with the ol Magic Eraser. ...now if its starting to degrade.... now thats the time... or right before then... to think about shoring up your cork.
  20. i appologize if this was not a marketing attempt. meanwhile... im not sure of wheather i even NEED a leader on my braid. i mean... if im worried about clarity, im throwing hybrid or flouro anyway.... so........
  21. ive been back on here for twenty four hours and this is the 3rd "post" that was actually a marketer trying to stir up hype. its shady and it makes me sick. great idea though!!! lol
  22. im going to agree totally about the solene. if you can find one cheap.... it is a great reel. i have been through three of them now and have gave two away that are still working fine (even in saltwater). the last one im still using for paddletails and the like. it had more bearings in it than the other two... not sure what the difference was... but i love it. its a great little reel.
  23. ive been using the hybrid in 12 and 15 for a few years now and the ultra soft in 8 for spinning. this year i got some ultasoft in 12 and 15 for kicks. all of these lines are everything i ask a line to be and i have no real intentions of switching to any other line any time soon. edit- i have no problems with the 15lb retaining memory because it rarely sits more than 12 days without being used again. this may be an issue with others.
  24. x2 or find an older model of it on ebay for even less. i have two and they are awesome. jfranco turned me onto a daiwa reel a few weeks back and i got one off ebay for $27 shipped. it is a great great reel and i cant wait to buy a rod to put it on . (baitmonkey....you listening?) heres the thread with the daiwa model and a site with cheap accurists apparrently. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1266634318/12#12
