We're heading out to Indian Valley Reservoir, which is NE of Clearlake. It's a smaller lake that's pretty well known for it's good fishing.
That looks like a simple and cheap solution BassnMan Mike. There are some mixed reviews on the product though
I don't mind paying some money to protect my rods because I'm sure I'll use it quite frequently...
Any other ideas guys?
Hey guys, I'll be making a camping trip out to a lake in CA at the end of the month and we're taking a small 12' aluminum boat so I'll be taking my truck, but I haven't figured out how to transport my rods! There will be passengers in the truck so I won't be able to lean them against the front seat and I don't want them bumping and banging in the back of the truck bed because I spent a lot of money on my equipment!
I was looking at rod tubes, but they're just hollow plastic and my rods would just crash against each other inside of say a bazooka tube. My rods range from 6'8" to 7'3".
How do you guys transport your rods?? Your help is greatly appreciated!
So a friend of mine wants to get a new rod/reel for an upcoming camping trip that we'll be making and asked me to give him some advice on a rod/reel setup. I've pretty much already determined that the reel will be a Shimano Sahara 2500FD and that he'll need a 6'6" to 7'0" Medium power Fast action rod.
I guess my question to you experts out there...did I choose the correct reel and what rod would you guys recommend?
Thanks in advance everyone!
Theoretically the STX should throw lighter baits...well...all baits much further than the Patriarch. I agree with Micro on this one and think that you should just get another STX.
Yes, maybe getting the Patriarch will save you a few extra minutes at the end of the day because it requires less adjustment, but if you know how to properly use an STX then I don't see a reason to get a different reel...unless you just want to taste another flavor.
Hey guys, I'm looking for a rod to throw 3/8 and 1/2 oz. spinnerbaits, 3/8 and 1/2 oz. buzzbaits, 3/8 oz. swim jigs, and Spooks. I ordered a 734C and it's currently on its way, but I'm not too sure if I bought a rod that's too powerful for these applications???
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance guys!
I agree that the LTB rods are tip heavy. I ended up returning the 7' Teaser rod because it just wouldn't balance with any of my reels (Chronarch D or Revo STX).
You're very humble about your great collection of reels! They may not seem like much to you, but the effort you put into upgrading and getting them tuned is well noted!
If you backlash a Revo SX then you're going to backlash a Daiwa... It's all about how you set the cast control on the Revo. Micro explained it best...search for his post on how to properly adjust the cast control and brake on your Revo. Had I read his explanation first...I would have saved myself a couple spools of line and a bunch of frustration. Once you get it figured out you won't get backlash problems.
