  1. Maybe Da Vinci's eyesight was fading when he painted Mona.
  2. The expression, "You get what you pay for.", comes to mind.
  3. If Mona Lisa was beautiful, then Da Vinci was a lousy artist.
  4. Blue and red = purple. Blue and yellow = green. Black and blue = bruise.
  5. It could take something as simple as buffing. It could also take sanding with some very fine, 1200 grit or finer, followed by buffing. So, you start with the mildest, buffing with a minimally aggressive buffing compound. If the finish is metalflake, it's best left to an expert. Go too deep and your colored flakes will become silver, and you have reached the point of no return. If it's a solid color you still run the risk of going too deep. First give the surface a thorough cleaning, then, try a cleaner glaze, applied by hand for starters. That "rough" feeling could be tree sap or other contaminants that simply need to be removed. If it's still rough, get a mild buffing compound. Start with hand rubbing. If the finish is better but still not smooth, use the compound with a buffer. Work a small area at the time. Use a slow speed on the buffer. You do not want to build up heat in the finish. Get a spray bottle, and mist the area periodically. That will help to keep the area cool, and will also break down the compound into finer particles. You are performing surgery. You do not want to remove more of the finish than is necessary. Patience is key. Go very slowly, until you develop a feel for what you are doing.
  6. Are you casting into the wind, or with the wind?
  7. I thought you were setting the hook. No it's not! It's BigBill. Okay, same difference. How long can you keep snow in the live well?
  8. Braid is great in vegetation, it will cut through plants like a mowing machine. Around rocks, not so good. If a decent fish takes it around a rock, goodbye.
  9. Maximum distance varies, but when fishing with a spinning rod and reel, maximum distance is obtained when the bail flips closed just after you release the line with your finger.
  10. About a foot. Still snowing, but should wind down in the next two hours. Should have a sunrise tomorrow a.m. and less wind. Between our driveways and the neighbors I've got about three hours of snow blowing to get things cleaned up.
  11. It could also be because he is a flying pan. Raider told me so.
  12. Nothing yet in the way of precipitation, but the wind is increasing. This afternoon and tonight four to eight inches of snow is in the forecast.
  13. To make sure you did.
  14. Hmmmmmpfft. I knew that.
  15. Thank you for the kind words my friend. I have fished many times with Grandpa1114 many, many times. I'm disappointed that he did not put in a plug for his favorite bait, a three inch sluggo on a 1/16th ounce jig head with a #1 or a 1/0 hook. If you ever get the chance to fish with him take it.......................at your own peril. Be advised, when he breaks out the buggy whip with this tiny bait, you're in trouble. We make each outing a tournament of sorts. We don't keep count of numbers of fish caught nor do we weigh for the biggest fish. Those are too complicated. Our battles are to see who can catch the most species. The winner of that day receives what we call the Al Lindner award. When he breaks out the sluggo, you may as well wave the white flag of surrender. I have threatened to get a couple of Mepps spinners in the number one size. I have seen catfish, trout, bluegills, yellow perch red ear sunfish, white perch, crappie, pickerel, rock bass, salmon, pickerel, smallmouth bass and largemouth bass fall prey to his tiny sluggo. As best I can recall, he holds the one day record with eight species caught. They were not all tiny fish. One day he caught two pickerel that weighed a total of eleven plus pounds, one nearly six pounds, the second over five pounds. On successive casts.
  16. That's a matter of perspective. For the younger fisherman that might be true. For those of us who have run most of life's marathon, that's another story.
  17. I still like my hover the phone over the toilet, and flush. Doesn't take much time, and provides such satisfaction.
  18. How does a cell phone prevent these calls?
  19. A recessed deck is not as annoying as having gear and other stuff go overboard because there is no rail to stop them.
  20. Here's the best braid cutter money can buy. Cuts braid slick as a whistle. Try it. You'll be amazed.
  21. First things first. Take a safe boating course. You'll learn the "rules of the road", what the various navigation buoys and markers mean, and you'll learn about what safety items you should/must have on your boat. You'll also learn some important things about boat handling, and how to safely acquire experience at the helm.
  22. In a nutshell, Raider insulted the small owner of a Chinese Restaurant, and the guy chased him out, threatening to thrash him with the ladle.
  23. The most dire predictions say one to two feet of snow. Scientifically speaking, I got storm insurance. Twenty gallons of 89 octane gas for the snow blower, and 25 gallons of regular gas (all treated with Stabil of course) for the generator. Today or tomorrow I will get the generator in its place (my spray booth with an exhaust fan that runs whenever the generator is running) in case of power loss. As is usually the case when I get prepared ahead of time the storms change direction, and miss us entirely, or we end up getting rain instead of snow. Therefore, southeastern Massachusetts will escape with, at the worst, a dusting of snow. It's settled science. Last year was the exception which proves the rule.
