  1. Some of what I see are rock bass, a run of the mill pan fish. But the wiki link looks like a large mouth rock bass hybrid.
  2. I want to pick up a good minnow imitation for drop shotting. Anyone have any feed back on: Roboworm Alive shads Yamamoto Shad shaped worm Tiny Fluke
  3. I try to stick to a couple of colors in all lures (soft or hardbaits): Shad (dark top/white bottom) Black (and maybe blue...etc but predominately black) Watermelon (any color flakes) Pumpkin Red Shad
  4. I know it is the same company, but what is the difference between the Yamamoto Fat Ika's and the Kinami palm trees. I see there is a large price difference, but why? Fall rate difference? Color options? Thanks in advance.
  5. Just last week I landed 2. One was 14 lbs, the other was 20 lbs. Both were landed on my poor drop shot rod. I was dropshotting a roboworm (oxblood color). I loosened the drag up and fought those dog gone things for almost 20+ minutes praying they wouldn't snap my rod.
  6. Hollow body = Spro Buzz frogs/plastic frogs = Stanley Ribbits
  7. You wanna fill a have some fun drop-shotting? Check out roboworms.
  8. It is all good. It is actually good to see other people's perspective.
  9. Thanks. I just want to get better. With me personally, the more I know and understand, the more confident I am about the choices I make. Thus, maybe I will catch more fish than if I just wing it and guess things.
  10. What will you be using it for? I just bought a Crucial and I think I am in love.
  11. Ok, here is where this stemmed from. I like to use specific poles with specific lures. The night before going fishing, I am looking at rod ratings and deciding what to pre-rig on each pole so I am set when I get on the water and I hope to get the most from each rod. Well, I just broke down and bought a Crucial, 7' M with a lure rating of 1/8 to 3/8. So as I am looking at that rod I got to thinking, what the heck does a single senco, or a fluke actually weigh? So I looked around and found nothing on individual weights of soft plastics. Thus, sparking my question.
  12. I know I over analyze things. But that is me. Can't turn off the OCD.
  13. Shimano Sahara, or Sedona, depending on what you want to spend.
  14. Just curiosity I guess. With the different rating poles I have, I am always analyzing what lure to throw on what rod and got to wondering if anyone else ever thought or weighed individual soft plastics.
  15. Does anyone roughly know what a 5" Yamamoto senko weighs? What about a 4" Zoom fluke? Does anyone know of a chart that would list weights on plastic lures?
  16. No particular order: 3/4 oz red eye shad 3/8 scrounger w/ 3.5 lake fork magic shad 100 and 78 lucky craft pointer 5" senco
  17. Big difference between a spinner bait and a fish head spin. On a fish head spin you can throw on a hollow body swim bait and have the movement of the tail as well as the small flash from the blade. More subtle presentation. On the scrounger head.....I will never NOT have one tied on. They are so versatile and flat out catch fish. Try them with a 3.5 lake fork magic shad. Just hold on. But I know what you are talking about with the heads spinning......but it is an easy fix. The bill has just gotten off center a little bit. Just slide it back even again. A drop of glue if need be.
  18. Thanks guys, looks like I am going to have to tinker. I knew I had to be doing something wrong. Figured that since I was so afraid of bird's nest, I got use to setting things too tight.
  19. I am using the BPS Carbonlite reel. The 7' MF, which has a maximum rating of 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz was the one I was throwing the 3/4 oz red eye shad, a country mile. I chose to throw a 1.5 sk squarebill on the 6'6" M which is a rating of 1/4 oz to 5/8 oz and knowing the 1.5 weighs approx. 3/8 oz and I couldn't get the thing to go farther then I could of thrown the whole pole, lol.
  20. Also, on a spinning reel, in the spool, where can you find replacement washers for the fabric ones in there? Do you put a drop of oil on each of them?
  21. I should of posted that. 1 - 7' MF Rod with a Carbonlite reel - spooled with 12lb yo-zuri 2 - 6'6" M Rod with a Carbonlite reel - spooled with 12lb yo-zuri
  22. I have used casting reels for the last 3 or few seasons so I am still a noob at them. I have gotten decent at it but I have a question. How far do you cast with say a 1/2 lure on it? I can throw a 3/4 red eye shad to the moon, but if I put on say a 1.5 crankbait (3/8 oz), it goes about 20 feet, maybe. I have the tension knob set so that it just hits the water and stops and the magnetic brake about 5. I probably have 3 of the 6 internal brakes on (i think they are on, lol, three are "out" and three are "in"). Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would hate to throw everything under 3/4 oz on a spinning rod. Thanks.
  23. Can someone point to a good article or picture (preferably) that shows what to oil and what to grease? Both Spinning and casting. I have a feeling I have been doing it wrong.
  24. Venom tubes all the way!
