  1. Absolutely! You will enjoy this club. Tourney fees are very small, as Charlie says, it's about having a great time and learning. Please send Charlie an email at cetaylor2 at verizon.net and he will be in touch with you. Ernie
  2. We had a great day....65 veterans showed up. Fishing was slow but they had a great time!

  4. We are a few weeks away and are still looking for a few volunteers. Please pass the word along to any and all veterans that you know.
  5. For those living near Jupiter FL, FishingCommunity.org will be holding a very cool fishing event for our Wounded Heroes and Veterans on Oct 12 at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. It's a shore fishing event and we are looking for participants and volunteers. This event is intended to be a no-frills event for veterans and their families, as an integral part of the re-socialization/rehabilitation lifecycle. Here are some of the details and the sign up sheet (also a place to donate $$ if you are so inclined). https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_QfcD1SmJvQTFJFMTAwUjlhYkllVUROcDJXM3FaZWhQZ1JN/view?pli=1 Below is a link to the event we held in my community of Ashburn VA on Aug. 1. http://www.pacemakerfishing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6946 Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope to see and meet some of you at the event.
  6. Check out his You Tube vids....he's good! Ernie
  7. Find a teacher to sponsor the club and have regular meetings/events. Try to find a local Bass club that will adopt your club. They can take members out on their boats....like a member/guest tourney. These guys in VA do it right! http://www.ochsanglers.com/ Good luck! Ernie .
  8. Snook at the shore?
  9. I will staying on Singer Island and will fish the salt some. My buddy wants to get on some bass. Not sure I want to dance with gators though.... Ernie
  10. Will be in the area from 8-12 Nov....can you recomend some places that I can try fish from the shore? Thanks! Ernie
  11. Thanks....I will give the ocean a shot as well as the ICW. Ernie
  12. I will be staying at Singer Island for part of this week and have some time on Friday morning (and early PM) to do some fishing. Anyone fishing that wants someone to tag along with? I can do salt ( I hear the ocean is snotty) or fresh. Thanks in advance! Ernie
  13. Great to hear....time for a visit to my brother's place in Miramar. Ernie
  14. I will be down in the WPB area (from NoVA) on Friday (4/8) and looking to fish (fresh or salt) that morning (some PM too). If anyone is fishing, I would love to join you if possible. Ernie
  15. Call Capt. Mark Hall in Miami. He is very reasonable and knowledgeable. He does lots on the fly but conventional as well. http://www.flyfishpeacocks.com/ Ernie
  16. You can work that out with Phil....it will be @$15 depending on the reel and the condition. Ernie
  17. Call Phil at Rod & Reel Repair. 3612 Lee Highway Arlington, VA 22207-3719 (703) 528-3022 You can ship him the reels and he'll get them turned around quickly. He is as fair as they come. Ernie

  19. Call Jason at D & S Marine (301-374-6678) in Waldorf MD. Not too far for Springfield. Ernie
  20. Antonio Maceo Park
  21. Outstanding report! Can't wait to get back down ther. I got hooked on Peacocks (catch them with a fly rod) 3 years ago and it's as good as it gets! Ernie
  22. A to S- come to the next Potomac River Smallmouth Club meeting on Wed., August 25 at 7:15pm at the Vienna Firestation. Steve Moore is the featured speaker and has written a book about wading in the area. Ernie
  23. Really? Get a DC license....$6.50 for out of towners. Fish the Tidal Basin for many species (striper, crappie, bass, catfish, snakehead...). Go to Fletcher's and ask the guys at the shack to see what is biting on the river or canals. If you like to wade (wet), you can do so at Gravely Point which is technically in VA just across the 14th St Bridge. The in/out flow just south of the ramps gets a lot of attention. Or....Google up the carp fishing that some guys do off Haines Point, they had an international competition there a few years back. That's just a few for starters. Ernie
  24. Otherwise known as the "Cuban yo yo" but it's been adopted by many others..... :
  25. I've never tried it but it might be worth a try on a Lite rod.....you will have a fight once you hook up! Try to find one with the larger dumbbell eyes (that's the weight). Good luck! Ernie
