  1. let me resurrect this old thread ... I'm in a bit of a holding pattern because we'll be relocating down South. I currently have a 15' jon boat that I really don't want to put any money or sweat into but I don't want to buy anything until I see the situation in the new area. I do want something decent to fish from for the next couple of years though so I was thinking about the BPS Pond Prowler, which is getting good reviews overall. Any further feedback, Ikefan or others with the boat? Thanks.
  2. I got 4 of them. Nice rods but my baits keep bouncing off the surface now! I'll have to wait for softer water conditions to continue my research.
  3. Yup, he can walk down that path with Skeet Reese who dumped his rod contract to go with a real no-name rod company or Greg Hackney who dumped his boat company to go with a less known boat company. Wright & McGill are a no name company? : Rod wise? C'mon, now. Compared to Lamiglas? Prior to Skeet signing with them, how many people were running around with Wright and McGill bass rods? Skeet put them on the map. I believe Ike will give a boost, a little "street cred" to Abu rods.

  5. Did he ever endorse the Helicopter Lure or the Power Cast rod?
  6. You may want to check out the new Abu Morrum ZX1600/16001 IVCB-4

  8. but what reels does he have on them? most of the setups I've seen him fish with have Steez reels on them. i was refering to his rod selection , but yeah , he uses steez reels and probably zillions also .. He uses the Luna 103M quite often and the Sol spinning reel and baitcaster.
  9. Kota Kirayama, Morizo Shimizu and Bernie Shultz quickly come to mind.
  10. At least Mike's getting paid to advertise. I could never understand why someone would give it away for nothing.
  11. Ike got the press release, the big press release but Tak Omori is no longer with Daiwa. Two Classic winners go and they keep Hill, Monroe and Folkstadt? Good anglers but what's wrong with that picture?
  12. Definitely lipped cranks, through the water column from shallow to deep, you're golden.
  13. Yeah. Got the P-17s. The glasses aren't Kaenons or Costas but not bad. I wouldn't buy the reel just to get the glasses. Think of it as bonus for purchasing a great reel.
  14. It's because of the taper. The 7' has a moderate taper, it's quite close to fiberglass in action. The 6'9" has a fast taper. The 6'6" you have listed has an extra fast taper. I have the first two rods. That's why you are seeing the difference. You have the VTC69-6? How does it perform?(casting, sensitive, etc.) And What do you mostly use it for? Excellent sensitivity, very well balanced with a Revo, Zillion and Fuego and I would imagine Pflueger and Shimano reels. I use it for pitchin' jigs/trailers to 5/8 oz, creature baits, etc. Matched it with 16 lb flouro.

  16. It's definitely a typo.
  17. The price on Fuegos went back up to $144.95 @ TW. Still a steal, though.
  18. Nothing like a bit of sophistication to help keep one warm!

  20. I've poked at the idea of buying a daiwa for a couple of months now so i'm not strictly a shimano man. but they do make a great product for that particular pricepoint. the zillions are buttery smooth and are aesthetically pleasing. maybe i'll have to try one out. any thing that I said regarding curados is purely my own opinion and I hope it was taken that way. The Zillion, whether in the 4.9 version or 6.3 version would be an excellent choice. My only experience with the Calais was actually with the Japanese version, the Antares DC 7. It's an excellent reel but the Zillion has a better combination of features starting with lighter weight, solid frame, better drag and better castability.
  21. Not to bash anyone but has anybody else noticed aficianodoes of one particular brand just won't take no for an answer? Sort of like a drunk chick at a party. A whole lot of fun 'til she pukes on your shoes!
  22. LOL Around $8 for a pack of Marlboro's up here and almost $9 for Newports. Well I know Im not the oldest in here by far but, I can remember smokes under a buck a pack. I cant imagine my 2 pack habit a month at $8 or $9bux. I see peeps smoking now and say, Danga I can buy alota nice tackle with that ;D I can remember going every Saturday morning and getting a pack of Camels, unfiltered, the Racing Form for my father and a Hershey bar for me for a buck. Smokes and Coke, and we didnt need an ID back then eh Pantera61 What a difference from the old days. When I was a kid, any adult would give you a hit off their smoke, five and six years old. If you tried that these days you would be tossed into the hoosegow and they would toss away the key. That's the problem with kids these days, they don't let them raise any Hell and get it out of their system.

  24. I grew up in the town where many of the snuffs, dips and chews were manufactured. On cloudy days the odor would hang over the town like a pregnant sow. Most of us had chewed and dipped by the time we were 8 years old because the factory would dump the overage.
