A lot of times, big bass work together in "packs" to school shad or other types of bait fish. I'm not sure how long a couple of hours is, but it sounds very likely that you had a school of big bass in one area that you were fortunate enough to hook in-to. Beautiful fish you got there in your picture!

I am not much of a jigging fisherman, but I'd give these a try for sure. You chose some nice colors there!

I have one of the Magic Swimming Shads. It is a great looking lure, with awesome movement. I've never had any problems with it. It is perfect for pulling overtop of weeds and rocks, along the surface.

I have lots of senkos and other soft plastics, what size should I use though? I was thinking 4" would be good for this type of light tackle fishing.

Should i be fishing the bottom? Or do you think topwater would be the better way to go?

A friend told me about a local creek with lots of smallmouth in it. Usually fishing in ponds, I mostly know how to fish for largemouth in stationary water. Does anyone have any tips for fishing smallies in shallow, moving creek waters? Any tips would be helpful. Thanks, Capt.

These two in particular make a lot of sense to me. I didn't think to make the connection between slow fishing in the warm water to slow fishing in cold water. I catch most of my larger fish on soft plastics along the bottom, during the Summer and Spring. It would be completely logical that those same fish are down there when the water cools down.

I am definitely for it! I would love to get more women into fishing. It seems like a stereotype that fishing is only for men. Something like this would help to get more women interested in the idea of picking up a rod-n-reel. IMO, fishing has nothing to do with physical speed and strength (like most contact sports). If a woman can outwit me and catch more fish, props to her.

It is getting colder and I can't help but notice that there seems to be a lot less fish being caught, but the ones that we do catch are BIG. I know that prime fishing seems to be when it is a little warmer out, but there have been some monster bass posted on here lately. Has anyone else noticed this pattern?

Now that is some movement! It even moves well on the slow retrieve... I am very impressed. I would like to get my hands on one of these.

I haven't gotten much into frogs yet, but if I did, I would be all over this one. That thing looks perfect. I am amazed how realistic it actually looks.

I think he was referring to the first fish more than the big one. I'd have to say that 2-3 pounds is definitely a stretch. That second fish is a hog though! Look at the mouth on that sucker... Awesome catch!

Do you have any advice on how to catch these? If you are catching them, maybe you could tell some of us your techniques so we can catch some too.

I have a really old wooden popper that has it by the hook. I will post a pic of it when I get a chance.

It is a pretty good looking bait that I thought about buying, but a few guys talked me into going with the Sebile Magic Swimmer. I don't use swimbaits too much, but there's nothing better than trying it out for yourself. The Tackletour review gave it a 7.0 out of 10.0. I'd say that's a decent score. Don't give up on it until you try it out.

I've had some good luck in the local ponds tossing dark colored Yamamoto Flappin' Hogs and 4/5 inch Senkos. I've been using a Carolina Rig and popping them along the bottom. Seems to be working for me. It has been in the high 50's/lower 60's in my area.

I didn't know anything about fishing until I got onto this website and started reading comments and articles. I was still fishing with bobbers and worms up until this summer. I really started getting into fishing, listening to what people were saying on here and their experiences. While fishing a spinnerbait at a local pond with a few friends of mine, I caught a pb largemouth that was about 7 pounds! Since then, I've been hitting different bodies of water, at least twice a week (and catching bass!). Oh, and the bait monkey jerking me around. I'm lovin it!
