  1. I havn't had nearly the luck there this year that I have had in the past as well. I figured it was cause of the flood as you said. Any of you guys have any tips on the concord river? I seem to have serious trouble catching fish there. I'm not sure if its what i'm using or the spots where I'm fishing. I usually put in near concord lumber in concord. Is there a specific way to fish your bait (as in up current, down current, or cross current etc?) pulling a spinner across current just doesn't seem natural to me.
  2. I'm fishing the same places that some of you are talking about (Lex Res, Horn Pond, Nutting Lake). Almost everything I caught this year is on either a jig with a twin tail grub trailer or a spinner. Most of them seem to be reaction bites as the fish whack it almost as soon as it starts sinking. I'm hoping it should pick up soon supposed to be a warm weekend!
  3. I'm looking for any place i could find ice fishing reports for the eastern MA area. Or maybe if any of you guys have been out? Specifically ice thickness and locations. Thanks guys
  4. Redrocketier me and a buddy are in the exact same position. So if you, or anyone, is looking for people to enter a Tournament I will for sure.
  5. Where is the best place to get a small boat in on Flints Pond? By looking at google maps it seems like the only road is sandy pond road? Any advice would be good cause i've been looking for new spots on google maps and its impossible to figure out which ones will be good etc..
  6. Thanks for the answers guys. Needless to say my rods arn't in the car anymore...
  7. I keep my rods in my SUV most of the time. I place the one piece rods so the handle and reel are in the trunk and the rods extend over the back seat towards the front of the car. The rods are long enough that they are bent against the inside roof of the SUV in the final foot or so. Will this damage the rods to keep them bent like this while I am not fishing. The bend is not severe at all but it makes me nervous sometimes. What do you guys think? Thanks.
  8. Sorry, this will be a baitcasting setup.
  9. Thanks to the tips on this site I've been able to use a baitcaster with more and more confidence. I'm now on the market for another rod and reel setup (I have a Bill Dance Combo right now) My budget is around $150 dollars and i'm wondering if its wise to buy a quality rod with a lesser quality reel or vice versa. In other words, which piece is more important, the rod or the reel? I'm planning on using this setup for soft plastics and jigs. Thanks for any advice.
  10. So I've stuck with the baitcaster a bought last year and am beginning to love it. I'm making full casts with many different baits. The major thing I have not made any progress on is flipping and pitching.... Do any of you guys have tips for helping me learn how to flip and pitch with a baitcaster? (technique, brake settings etc..) Thanks guys.
  11. I fish a good deal with soft plastics and almost always use a bullet weight . As I bring them back to the shore or boat I usually watch the worm underwater to see how it looked when it was out of sight. It seems to me that the silver weight looks unnatural against the dark worm. I was thinking about painting the weights black or green or some darker color. Has anyone done this or know anything about it? Thanks
  12. I have a 10' aluminum (prob. a little lighter) and its not nearly as effective/fun to take it on anything with current/wind unless with a heavy anchor.
  13. Thanks for the tips. Luckily I'm still under warranty and Bass Pro said they'd replace it. So in the future i'll make sure to charge it. Thanks again
  14. I have a 12v deep cycle battery that I run my trolling motor off of. I put the boat in my truck to and from lake so the motor and battery come off between uses. The battery was fully charged at the end of last season and when I went to use it yesterday it was completely dead. The funny thing is when I plugged the battery in to double check before leaving yesterday meter on the charger said 100% but the 'charge complete' light was NOT on. I figured I still had the better part of a full charge though. I bought the battery and charger brand new and this will be only their second season. It sat on my basement floor over the winter. What do you guys think? Did I ruin the battery by keeping it on the floor? Is there something that I'm not aware of? Very strange cause they both worked perfectly before.
  15. Car topping is def. an option I have a 10' jon and drive an xterra. You may need help to get it on the roof I know i always did. For shorter trips, half hour or less, i fold down back seats and strap it in as well as straping down the trunk(about 3' hangs out of the back but no big deal). I've driven to vermont and back with it strapped on top wihtout any problems at all. IF you can afford it the yakima or thule crossbars that attach to the factory roof rack work very well and you don't need to worry about scratching your roof rack or boat (the crossbars are rubber coated).
