  1. That is awesome, take me fishing PLEASE ;D
  2. I have found a few of these for a good price, aluminum body, 5 bearings etc, nib. When were these reels made? Any experience with them? Thanks
  3. Go to www.abugarcia.com they have all the schematics and specs there. Good luck
  4. The pro finesse is built on a frame that is eerily similar to the Abu Revo Premier. I use a BPS Extreme 05 and am happy, from the reviews I have read and personal experience of friends who have them you won't go wrong with the pro finesse reel. It is a real sleeper in the fishing world.
  5. The Citica has a very good reputation, and you won't go wrong with one. The other options to consider would be the Abu Revo series and the new Orrum. I have threee Abu reels (mine are round) and they are absolutely great reels.
  6. I have a ski and fish and agree with the statements so far about no room to fish. The next one will be straight fishing, the kids and wife don't use the boat near as much as I do. Plus the straight bass boat will do skiing just as easy as a ski and fish.
  7. Glad you caught some fish, btw IMO replace your florocarbon with Yo-zuri Hybrid, I think you will be more satisfied, I know I am. I now use only Hybrid in 6 or 12 pound test, all I'll ever need for the fishing I do.
  8. Awesome
  9. I resemble that remark!!!
  10. Personally I would hate to be a moderator here. Glenn and the fellas have to have skin like a rhino, could you imagine trying to please everyone here??? Impossible, Kudos to the mods as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who has been here for awhile knows about the Shimano possee, there was never a problem with the Shimano forum until recently. The more popular this site gets the harder it is for the mods, give them a break!!!! I personaly like giving RW and the others a hard time concerning SHEMANO'S, it is all in fun. I should also state that anytime I've had a problem and contacted the mods about it, they have always been very helpful. They may not always agree with what I have to say, but at the same time they do listen. Be respectful of the mods, they do not have to police this site, and Glenn does not have to provide this resource for us.
  11. Thanks, I'm not knocking shimano as I think they make a good product. I just don't think it is cool to bash someone else's choice in gear. As far as Quantum and Zebco, I think that Zebco has a place in most angler's history as their first reel, mine was a 202, then a 33, then when I was a teen I moved up to a Mitchel 303, remember those???
  12. My snapshot has seen all kinds of use and abuse, it is an ultralight and I've used it to catch 18lb cats. It was my main wading reel, it has been wet, frozen, etc. I don't think you can break that reel, hardly used once a year during vacation, rather it has been used hard and regularly. On another note, Does Shimano sponsor any pros? We all know that KVD and others are sponsored by Quantum. Quantum puts their product out there for the world to see, and pros to abuse. I just popped over to this site from Shimano looking for the pros they sponsor, didn't see anything, do they sponsor?
  13. As far as quantum goes, I have three rods, and several reels. I have an old snapshot that I've had for at least 15 years, never been cleaned or serviced and works great. I've never understood why so many people are down on quantums. Besides that they routinely go on sale for extraordinary prices, the same thing can not be said for other companies.
  14. I have really got to try the Ika, have to order it as no retailers in my area carry it. Green pumpkin color I suppose?
  15. Find the current my friend. Smallies are definitely current related more than anything else, IMO. Again in my experience don't bother beating the bush and jungle for smallies, that is the venue of the LM. Smallies are more structure related, than cover, but again it hass been my experience that it is the current, find a eddie pool, with some good structure, breaks, dips etc and you can fill the boat. Grubs are my search bait, 4 inch smoke on an 1/8 ounce jig, fish it to imitate a minnow. Smallies do not eat large shad, their mouth is just not large enough. When the craws are active tx rig some paca craws or ragetail craws with just enough weight to keep it on the bottom and DRAG it, if there are smallies in the area you will know quickly. Good luck
  16. definitely let us know how it worked
  17. You know I've never tried a white tube. I guess in that instance it would be a baitfish type imitator, which would work. Thanks for the tip.
  18. seeing that tubes imitate crayfish, and crayfish hibernate in the winter, I would use another finesse type bait. A straight worm without any action on a drop shot rig. I catch more smallies on grubs than anything else, I rely on minnow imitators for catch quantity. When the craws start coming out of hibernation is the time to start with the tubes, the smallies really load up on them in the spring.
  19. Congrats, you will change her diaper and she will change your life!!
  20. As a general rule I don't worry much about it. I'll never forget the day I came home as a kid and found the sink full of redeye (rock bass). Seeing how it was at least a 20 minute drive to the river these fish had been out of the water a while. Being young and mischevious, I filled the sink with water, while filling the sink I held a couple of the fish under the water, letting the water flow over their gills, most of those fish began splashing around in the sink after a few minutes. I think most people worry to much about factors that have little to do with the survivability of a fish. In the neighborhood pond I've caught fish, brought them home in cooler months for pictures and then released them, with no problems.
  21. The Bean Boot, by the LL Bean company. Lifetime guarantee and are awesome. By lifetime I mean lifetime, I have an uncle that had a pair he wore for close to ten years, wore them out, sent them back and got a new pair. Awesome product, customer service and an American company.
  22. I quit one time before, when I went to boot camp. We were not allowed to smoke for 8 weeks, and I figured after 8 weeks why bother smoking? I didn't smoke for 14 years. I started again during my divorce, that was 9 years ago. I smoked anywhere between a pack to two packs a day. I quit last winter, but smoked a pipe for a while, I really enjoyed the pipe, and a pound of tobacco at 20 dollars, would last me at least a month. This time it is cold turkey, I am trying to keep my eye on the prize of a new boat or new to me boat. Like I keep telling myself I'm not quitting, I quit, no more. The wife just told me she smoked her last one too, so we can support each other through this, or get so grumpy that we are at each other's throat, lol. I'm on the fourth day, and I can now eat without going nuts for a smoke afterward, I have it beat this time. The trouble with me is that I really liked smoking, I'm not quitting for health reasons, I just added up the money, and realized how much money I was literally burning a month, enough is enough.
  23. they are absolutely meaningless, unless you are comparying one company's rods, example the clarus to compre. There is no industry standard for the amount of graphite that must be present in the blank to garner the rating. My BPS Crankin sticks are glass/graphite composite yet they carry the im6 rating. Are they IM6? Not purely. Stick with a reputable manufacturer and do your comparisons within their line, a IM7 rod of one company may be a IM6 in another, or even worse IM10, or 80 million modulus in another. Some companies take an average strength of the graphite to make their ratings, others find the strongest fiber and rate the whole rod from it. Again there is no standard and they are pretty meaningless.
  24. Thanks fellas, coming up on 96 hours.
