  1. On Alaska State troopers (nat geo) they were talking about escorting the kids to school because of eagle attacks.
  2. I've asked him the same thing. lol What he ought to do is buy a few, then resell.
  3. Preach said what I was going to, regrets and what if's are the things that eat us the most as we age. Forgive and let him go with a clear conscience. I suggest this for you and your future, not his. Its about you being able to be healthy, happy and at peace. Good luck
  4. Also bass tackle depot has the verdict (step up from veritas) for 65 bucks right now, plus reels deeply discounted too
  5. The three C's (cut, color and clarity) of diamonds go right out the window with these chocolate diamonds. Thankfully my bride doesn't like them, but while dating my wife introduced me to the fourth C carat, and I introduced her to the fifth C cost.
  6. With the sale over at bass tackle depot, you can get a great deal. Two that come to mind are the abu verdict for 65 and the crucial 112 from shimano. Good luck, and oh BTW u can order the veritas.from Walmart for 75 think its the same at btd
  7. IMO you should stay away from any reel with a graphite frame, the Caenan has a graphite frame. Right now you can find some good deals on Rods and reels. I've never used the Verdict so I can't comment on its performance, but the sale on them now is a good sale. FWIW the Convergence and Clarus rods from Shimano are good deals anytime, the Convergence can be had for 59 bucks and comes with a life time warranty. Pair it with a BPS Pro Qualifier now on sale for 80 and you have a good versatile rig that will serve you well. Also I think your budget for the Crankbait set up was around 200 bucks add that to your 130 for this setup. IMO you would be better off putting the bulk of your overall budget into the jig and worm rod, sensitivity is key with bottom contact fishing and less into the crankbait set up. With the two set ups you are looking at, I would put the money as follows bottom contact fishing (ie jigs and worms) I would put more money into the rod, sensitivity is key. With cranking I would put more into the reel, the reel gets a hard workout especially fishing deep divers. Good Luck and tight lines
  8. Heavy cover lilly pads, etc. Frog, Rage Shad Duck Weed, cover, timber, buzzbaits, Rage Shad cover, timber, over submerged grass, buzzbaits, rage shad, popper covering water, schools, etc Sammy types, popper, rage shads. The buzzbait is alot more versatile than many think, the weirdest thing I ever caught on a buzzbait was a 1.5 lb bluegill. My personal favorite buzzbait is a double gold blade with a chartruese white skirt. If you have never fished a Rage Shad, that thing is just awesome. And oh BTW it doesn't have to be summer for these things to work. I've had insane luck with smallies with water temp as low as 50 degrees on a pop r, points and over rocky flats mid day early spring when the water temp was rising. Good luck
  9. So in other words they could shut down the pro circuit? Your post was funny BTW.
  10. You can also go with tungsten for your weights. I thought they were a gimmick til I tried them, much smaller and more sensitive than standard lead.
  11. yeah mon, like it
  12. Nah, NorCalbassin is waitin too, I really hope he likes the stuff.
  13. Another one I just thought of concerns tubes. Leave a little air space between the jig head and the closed end of the tube, the trapped air in there really helps in not getting snagged. The tube hits the cover and deflects off, it really helps with snags and I think it has improved the number of fish I catch.
  14. Been watching this thread, I can not recommend any as I have no experience with any that u mentioned but what must have been a bad rod from one of the manufacturers. Was hoping there would be a concensus on one or more rods for this purpose. I have four cranking rods from ml to hvy, would be nice to lower the amount I carry.
  15. I love this quote. Sums up about every argument we have here whether line, rods or reels
  16. Welcome home and Thank You
  17. Without a doubt the beaverliquors wins. Thought my 25 year old was going to fall out of the chair laughing.
  18. X2 I really enjoy throwing a buzzbait double blade
  19. Thanks, I have some YZ spools unopened, keep them in box in the house, I was hoping they were still good.
  20. How long do you keep your line? I typically respool every year, with the exception of braid, which I replace every other typically. I know mono doesn't last long, when I used that I respool a few times a year. I use YZ almost exclusively unless I get a bad overrun, or if the line gets low on the spool, it stays there for one season.
  21. Oh please this thread could quickly turn into a policitcal, theological thread, think I'll bow out, lol Although it is against my argumentative nature
  22. That's as funny as funny as the proctologist in Beckley, WV, Dr Paine
  23. Gold blades white and chartreuse skirt, almost always the only exception is night time then black. I love throwing buzzbaits, my pb large mouth came on the white chartreuse, in fact every bass over 7lbs (only three) came on it, also its a double blade no clacker. The best thing you can do to break one in is tie it to your car antennae our hang it out the window on your way to the lake. Doing this really gets the blades good and squeaky.
  24. The feeling is very mutual, idk why but there is allot of animosity there. Some historians take it back to when WV wanted to be a separate State. The Michigan Ohio rivalry supposedly goes back to when the two states fought a small battle over control of a port.
  25. Ultra soft is for spinning tackle and is about a pound weaker than regular. Example 12lb regular 19+ breaking strength US 18 roughly. TW and Big Fish Sports both carry the 600 yd spool of the regular. The difference between a 250 & 600yd spool is 350 yards lol couldn't resist
