  1. I'm guessing you have a resident population of American roaches, the little ones without wings are the juveniles. From my experience the habitat niches of German and oriental aren't compatable with the dampness of a boat, especially here in the South. Having said that I've never had them bother the rubber boots on the switches. I'm betting that they are living in the bilge area anywhere it stays damp. I would get an insecticide that kills adults, juveniles, and eggs. Spray the boat especially the bilge, then put out a couple of roach baits. You may have to spray a couple of times depending on how bad they are. Once the reproduction cycle is broken, the bait traps should keep ya relatively roach free. I might even be tempted to flood the bilge first, drain it let out dry out then spray. Being in the South you already know there isn't anything as completely roach free.
  2. Talked to my bride, looks like I'll make this one. Just had to make sure she could cover the kiddies while I am away. Probably bring my Dad along, and my boat.
  3. I'll try to fix that when I can wrestle the computer away from my son, lol.
  4. Slone, First thanks for the kind words, second whatever path u decide to travel consider the stress involved, nothing flares my pain more than stress. Also as an estimator working from blue prints may aggrevate your injury, being constantly bent over a set of prints stresses your neck. My prayer is that u can get and remain pain free. I've worked as an estimator and a PM, either may be a valid option. And Raider I had union guys who wanted to sponsor me! Not all PM's are butts, Becoming a PM who has real world experience makes you a very valuable asset. Because you've been there and done it.
  5. I'm gonna revise this a little, the first one to guess the weight of the one I'm holding, I'll send you a Cavitron. The other picture just doesn't have enough quality to use it, but if ya guess it I'll add a Bandit square bill. I will post the weights and notify the winner, lets say by Monday, November 18th.
  6. X2, don't expect the PQ to be the one most everyone agrees is a great reel for the money

    Jfk

Ummmm, I wasn't born until 69, can't help on this one.
  8. Which one? The one I'm holding? BTW if it helps I'm 6'2" and about 230lbs. The one on the ground is lying beside a Diawa Procyon, I know the picture sux.
  9. What kind of roaches are we talking about? Fluke mentioned southern roaches which are either the American or the Florida woods cockroach, very different from most ppl think of, when they think about roaches. Most ppl in SC call them palmetto bugs, they live outside and don't infest your home, they are also huge, fly and easy to get rid of. German and oriental roaches are those little ones that infest your home, getting into your food stores carry disease and are hard to control. Where are u living James?
  10. We get these questions all the time, I guess this is to illustrate how hard it is to guess the weight by a picture. I happen to know how much both of these weigh, so guess away, shoot whoever guesses the weight, I'll send u a Cavitron. BTW my shoe size is 12 EEEE
  11. While at FLETC I was fishing for sharks off of Kings Bay, GA, me and some buddies rented a little 17 foot center console, thankfully it was a gorgeous day and dead calm. We were having a ball a school of hammerheads was in the area and they were biting. I was hoping to catch a huge shark that day, 7 footer, we were hammering the 2-3 footers but the big boys were being elusive. I set up and put out my bait, all of a sudden the drag was singing, so I tightened down the drag and set the hook. I could do nothing with the shark, it was running and I just could not turn it. I tightened the drag more and soon the shark was pulling us through the water, my buddies and I were very excited, we couldn't wait to see the shark, after a half hour of being dragged around it finally started up toward the surface. We all were leaning over the side waiting for our first sight of this huge shark.............. obviously I had to cut the line
  12. Yeah I've been stuck more than once, here is a pic of the last time. 3/4 ounce jig, hook went toward thumb and lodged against the bone, had to come out the way it went in.
  13. I feel asleep on my wedding night while my new bride was changing! As it turns out I didn't miss much! Needless to say she is my ex
  14. Most mount their V twin in a way that there is little to no vibration. Definitely not like the old knuckle heads, pretty smooth actually. I had a Goldwing once (didn't have it long, about exciting as riding a couch), no vibration and that was a flat six cylinder motor.
  15. I've always favored cruisers, can't see how a rocket can compare. I used to ride allot, never cramped up, went as fast as I wanted. Then again I'm not a speed junkie, lol. Can tell u that a full wind screen acts like a sail around 115.
  16. Get a good quality hybrid line, I like yo-zuri, inexpensive, but great quality. Gives u the best attributes of each and negates most of the negatives.
  17. Think he has ever seen it so cold that when u breathe through your nose everything freezes. Snot freezing cold is no fun.
  18. Way to go Boats, have fun in Mexico! Awesome fish
  19. Great story and pictures, welcome to BR
  20. You are going to get many varied answers, everyone has a different pain threshold, there are many different kinds of herniated disc (posterior, anterior, some with nerve impingement some without, etc), so saying you have a herniated disc doesn't mean much. Personally I've had five major spine surgeries, I finally gave up on most of my hobbies due to pain. I'm fused from L4 thru S1 and C5 thru T1. I've had the best PT u can get, (my last therapist was Emit Smith and Troy Aikman's trainer), I have to much damage to be fixed, my progress with PT is limited because of nerve damage and bone disease, I plateau early. So is life, I miss Jack Yates (fishfordollars) he was a big help and inspiration for me. Get checked out, before doing PT or anything, without knowing what is wrong no treatment should be tried. Once that's done then we can give u better advice. I fish sitting down most of the time and limit my time on the water.
  21. No such thing as the square root of a triangle. When you add the degree of all the angles of any triangle you get 180° the square root of 180 is approximately 13.41, but that is the square root of the sum total of the three angles, and doesn't do squat to allow u to find important stuff like the length of legs, etc. Think someone had been eating skittles with kool aid
  22. I love bbq, but it is a regional thing with each region having it's own recipe. In central SC it is a mustard base, eastern NC is vinegar, KC can be a dry rub or a tomato base or a combo, Spuds bbq is all the rave back home and I really don't know how to describe it. When I travel I like to eat at bbq joints, I try to find a Mom and Pop operation. Just don't expect it to be what you're used to. The only constant is low heat, and good smoke
  23. I have a high point 9mm that has been flawless operationally. They also have a lifetime warranty. BTW I've been thinking about getting one of those 9mm assault rifle thingies need a new deer rifle first. Also budsgunshop (just Google it) sells high point, shipping is free, just need a ffl dealer to receive it for u, most charge about 30 bucks to do that.
  24. I say forget about fluoro, get a quality hybrid line. For me (i have some neuropathy in my hands) the difference between the fluoro and hybrid sensitivity wise isn't noticeable. The hybrid will give u some of the advantages of both of the lines. Sensitivity is better than straight mono, knot strength is better than fluoro, stretch is about the same. Most hybrid lines are neutral buoyancy, this means no bow in the line while bottom contact fishing. Most hybrid lines have closed cell construction so they don't absorb water and weaken like mono. Although these lines are a compromise, you really do get the best attributes of both line types.
