  1. How did it go?
  2. That lake is loaded with small fish, bring the spinning rod and throw smaller baits and you will wack them. Just don’t expect any big bites.
  3. Let us know how it looks, seems like it could be killer.
  4. To answer the ops question I definitely do, sometimes it’s nice to spend a few weeks/months/years really learning a certain bait/technique, it’s way more informative then just going by what a pro/someone on YouTube says you should do.
  5. And I’m always trying to force them to eat a jerkbait ?
  6. I would be tempted to throw a jerkbait but that’s been my solution for everything lately, dosent hurt that it actually works pretty well sometimes.
  7. the smaller size sexy dawg has been crushing them for me in that exact situation.
  8. Spinnerbaits are fantastic this time of year for me, I struggled with spinnerbaits for years until I finally figured out that they do well for me in cooler water. Not freezing water but like 50-70 degree water I’m guessing.
  9. Jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, poppers, and small walking baits have all been doing great for me on rip rap lately
  10. It’s just a darker watermelon red, good color.
  11. I mean I drive fifteen hours to go look for cool snakes sometimes, I live in eastern Oklahoma so decent fishing isn’t hard to find, I’m totally willing to drive 2-3 hours or more for good fishing, it’s a good excuse to camp too.
  12. Do you fish the huskie jerks on casting gear? Just got my first hj10 and the action is actually pretty fantastic but man does it cast like a potato chip.
  13. Bank and float tube. Rip rap bridges and adjacent coves have been good to me lately, caught this one on Tuesday on a kvd finesse spinnerbait.
  14. They get rid of every last h20 product every year? I’ve never noticed that, I bought the h20 jerkbaits all winter last year.
  15. Stopped by the replace some ultimate jerkshads and discovered that academy had every h20 product on clearance and basically nothing was left. I called the other stores around me and it seems like they are all getting rid of them, that five dollar h20 jerkbait has been my single most productive lure this year so I really hope they bring something similar back. Anyone know what’s going on? I’m surprised I’m the first one to make a post about it here. Also if anyone wants a bunch of decent cranks for 2 bucks I would drop into academy now and see if anything is left, I’m sick I missed it by a day or so.
  16. Reaction innovation skinny dippers are great texas rigged, I like to use a 5/0 heavy wire ewg and a 3/16th ounce bullet weight with braided line. Gets through heavy cover incredibly well.
  17. Grabbed a husky jerk, a few provokes, head hunters, and kvd 200s/300. Really excited to try the Kvd 200s and the provokes. Jerkbait season is here and I couldn’t be happier.
  18. The kvd finesse spinnerbaits are great baits at a fair price. They run straight out of the package and are the perfect size, big enough to catch quality fish and small enough to get lots of bites. My go to spinnerbait by far
  19. I would definitely try a jerkbait.
  20. Yup, a slightly downside tandem or double willow is one of the best baits I have found for smallies and everything else here on skiatook lake.
  21. I would use lead weights and the eagle claw razor sharp hooks in those situations. Flukes, senkos, and swim baits might be better plastics to use as well. Nothing worse than re rigging over and over when you should be fishing.
  22. Seems like going with the zoom version of almost anything is a good call! I’ve caught two packs of the horny toads collecting dust, maybe I will tie one on tonight.
  23. The last year I’ve found myself fishing mid column more. I love to drag baits but When I’m fishing from the bank a jerkbait, small swimbait, small chatterbait/spinnerbait is a better choice. It’s just such a good way to cover water and even more importantly spend more time fishing and less time breaking off and tying on new lures. The lakes I’ve been fishing this year will eat a t rig or jig very quickly.
  24. Didn’t have the time to read all replies but get the lightest weight head possible, I like 1/16th and never go heavier. After it’s hit the bottom on the initial fall I try to not let it hit bottom again while keeping it near the bottom or just down lower in the water column. If you’re fishing from the bank you will loose heads, no exposed hook is going to last forever in the places I fish.
  25. Had braid slip on me for the first time the other day, thought my reel was broke for a good ten minutes until I remembered I spoiled my braid with no backing just to test it out ?
