IMO the colder the water the less action a want out of my trailer. so cold water = pork or plastic chunks.
warm water = ragetails and double tail grubs.
inbetween = chiggar craws, paca craws and craw papi.
I stick to black&blue for stained water and brown for clearer water.
black w/ blue fleck and green Pumpkin for trailers.
The best advice I have taken about jig fishing is "when in doubt, set the hook."
hook sets are free, I have hooked tons of fish that I was not sure about.
I also haul a lot of water
Chrome if its sunny, sexy shad if its not. firetiger or chartruse black back for stained water. I use to have a 3" bandit square bill shallow diving crank in solid black that a landed dozens of fish on before it got stolen.
The most sucessful model for me has been the DT 6 in brown craw. I snagged my last one in a laydown about a month ago gonna have to buy a new one soon.

Hahahah actually, it seems this has happened! lol Everything i throw out there i never get anything which has happened the last 2 times i went fishing, which means to me i get to buy new lures! haha
Honestly it's probably the rod & reel. Or if you are shore fishing it is definitely that you need to get a boat. ;D
Really it could be the rod and reel? I mean i only have one rod i use but i was looking into getting a couple more like one for my spinnerbaits one for buzzbaits then one to put a snap swivel on to use all my crankbaits.
Me and my friend are just assuming its the location haha
I have been told that snap swivles ruin the action of crankbaits. I don't know for sure because I never use them. You might want to look into this.
What kind of blades did your spinner bait have? Try a gold Colorado/Indiana combo. Those round blades will give off a lot of "thump" and if its sunny out the gold will throw off a lot of flash. Also try throwing tight to cover.
Has anyone caught any smallmouths out of Kill Creek? It says that they are stocked in there. I have only fished there one time and caught only largemouths.
