  1. Smallie Beavers on a shakey head are a fantastic, often overlooked option for clear, rocky lakes like Table Rock.
  2. A pitboss or sweet beaver will get through the reed a lot better than a lizard. Try pitching those. Also try a hallow-belly frog.
  3. You could buy an different brand of jig. I recommend Revenge and Buckeye jigs; never had a skirt slip off either of them.
  4. A straight shank with my line snelled to the hook is the only way I'll flip/pitch plastics.
  5. I like the Bite-Me brand jigs and use 3/32 oz for shallow water. As for baits, any plastic will do, but the two I use the most are 5" Berkley Shakey worms and RI Smallie beavers.
  6. I have used the smallie beaver quiet a bit lately with much success. I got them in Magic Craw Swirl and California 420.
  7. About 8 or 10 years ago we absolutely slayed the crappie on Cedar Lake. probably caught close to 100 fish between the two of us in one afternoon. I have only fished it a couple of time recently so I don't know if the crappie fish is still that great. I plan on checking it out this weekend.
  8. Finally tagged my little 10' boat and got it out to Miami SFL last Sunday. Had a good day despite the high winds. Caught about 20 fish between 10 - 18 inches. Most came on crankbaits, but got one on a spinnerbait and a few of plastics. I plan to go to Cedar Lake in Olathe this weekend!
  9. For me: Daybreak = Buzzbait
  10. I'm the exact opposite, the Invis-x is too stretchy.
  11. Sounds like my little city lake I fish fairly often. I catch all my fish in that pond in 6'' to 3' of water not 5 feet from the bank of the chunk rock dam. The fish are up there feeding on craws and small gills. Most of the fish are 12" to 16" but I did catch one that went 21". I always make long cast parallel to the bank, best baits have been small jigs and senkos.
  12. I have only fished Lenexa one time, the first spring it was open. Caught one that was just shy of 4lbs.
  13. Nope......doesn't work at all............. :o :
  14. Can't go wrong with straight brown!
  15. This is what I was going to say ! ;D The Shimano Citia is another option if you want to save some cash.......
  16. Can't beat 15lb Segaur Red Lable for the price.
  17. St. Croix LTB70CMHXF Ardent XS 1000 Segaur 15lb Man, that was a tough call........
  18. Okay....I'll run down my list of preferences: 1.carolina rigging-7'3" MH/F casting 2.crankbaits - 7' M/MF casting (glass) 3.shakey head - 6'8" M/XF spinning 4. top water (buzzbaits, poppers, sammys)-Buzzbaits= 7' MH/F casting; Popper, Sammys= 6'8" M/XF casting 5. frogs - 7' H/F casting 6.jigging -6'8" M/XF (finesse), 7' MH/XF (football) and 7'3" MH/F (pitching) all casting 7.T-rigging- same as above. This is just what I'm comfortable with; your should use whatever suites you.
  19. For me the easiest way to tell black bass apart is the "bridge" on the dorsal fin. http://www.tennessee.gov/twra/fish/FishFacts/black_bass_id.jpg
  20. My first choice would be the Z-Train! (Mark Zona) That guy is plain entertaining. Then, Jeff Kreit, Denny Brauer, Shaw Grisby and Ike.
  21. I'm excited for the SK 1.5, 2.5, smaller caffine shad and the Green Pumpkin Little John MD!
  22. When I first read the title of this it screamed "CRANKBAIT" Try one that runs at a depth that ticks the top of the grass or try ripping a lippless through it. I've caught literally hundreds of bass doing this. ;D
  23. not always. my craw pattern'd cranks yes, but my bluegill and shad cranks I prefer to retrieve at what ever level the fish are suspended at. If you are in 20 feet of water, and the fish are suspended at 8-10, you dont want your crank digging into the bottom 10-12 feet below them, at least I dont. Now if the fish are on the bottom, dig the crank hard into the bottom or whatever else is down there Okay, not ALWAYS...... but I have found if I'm not bumping the bottom a stop and go retrieve seems to trigger more strikes. Basically your crank should have some erratic movement to it weather it be from contact with something or from yourself.
  24. If I had to choose one it would be Berkley Power Bait. The fish really do hold on to the Berkley scent and flavor a long time.
  25. I have a St. Croix PGC70MMF with an Ardent XS1000. I freakin' love it.
