  1. I was back out on the water today and realized once I created a file name for the sonar log I was able to record. thanks
  2. Yeh I deleted the software update...is it possible it needs to be formatted? before I updated the software I had recorded a few sonar logs, however insight genesis wasn't able to read the logs and I figured it was due to the software update. However sense the update I havnt been able to get anything logged onto the sd card thanks
  3. as far as I know it is...its a brand new 16gig and only time I used the card was to upload the newest software version to the unit.
  4. Having some issues getting my Lowrance elite 5 hdi to record sonar logs to use along with insight genesis. I recently updated the software on the unit figuring that was the problem. Still nothing. When I go into log sonar on the menu page, highlight start logging and press enter the unit will ether give me no response or sometimes it will return back to the sonar/navigation split screen. I have tried holding down the enter button with the same results. Am I missing something here? thanks
  5. Anywhere close to parsipanny would be great...within a 30 min drive or close to it. thanks
  6. Going too Parsipanny NJ the 1st week of may for a conference and I will have some free time in the evenings. Thinking about taking my kayak along with me too pass the time. I just need some info about fishing in the area. There seems to be a good number of lakes and ponds to fish, but could someone maybe point me to a spot that is worth fishing and has resemble access as far as boat launches? thanks
  7. I picked up some Berkley Havoc money makers this winter to try...any one have any luck with these? I am a big fan of drop shotting a wacky rig senko so thought the money maker may work great as well.
  8. Neo....I have fished from a trident for 5 years now. I also had a trident prowler 15, fast kayak but overall I prefer the length of the T13. My wife has a T11 right now, and that is pretty slick in the water too. Glad your happy with the T13!
  9. Neo you will love the Trident 13. Here is my Urban camo T13 all rigged. Currently in the process of rigging a Native Watercraft Slayer Propel and I will post some pics as soon as its finished.
  10. Oh yeh....been fishing from a kayak for almost 10 years now. Just rigging some new gear onto the new slayer propel and waiting for the snow too melt!!
  11. awesome...I think I will go ahead and order my next unit with CHIRP. thanks everyone
  12. Hey guys how much better are Lowrance units with chirp vs units without chirp....is chirp worth an extra $200?
  13. thanks....I have been all over that website the past few weeks lol It did help a lot. I spend some time just outside of Belfast last summer fishing Quantabacook lake. Friends have a cottage there and the lake fished pretty well considering it was mid august and wicked hot! You guys have a great fishery in Maine! Would love to find one like that in your profile pic haha
  14. Last summer I spent some time in Maine fishing largemouth and had a blast. I am from New Brunswick Canada and we have no largemouth in our province. I spent some time keyboard fishing and have found out that there are 2 lakes near Calais Me that hold largemouth. Pocomoonshine and Crawford lake are only a 2 hr drive from my place and I thought it would be a great spot for me to spend fishing this coming summer. There is very little info online about these 2 lakes, but what I have read is very positive. Does anyone have any info they are willing to give up about these lakes?
  15. right on...the river starts in a lake that's about 15 miles up from the area we fished. The river looks fairly small up river a few miles from where we fish. Looks more like a stream on google earth. The lake from what I hear has lots of rocky coves and shoreline so we are planning to fish the lake as soon as the ice melts and water temps warm. So its very possible that the big bass we we get down river could be up river in the lake for the pre spawn.
  16. awesome that's what I want too know
  17. Last august I found an area in a small river system that held a good number of really nice smallmouth, well above the average size that I normally catch. The river section that I was fishing is very swampy and just above a dam that holds back water and creates somewhat of a reservoir/lake. The bottom of the river here is very soft and my question is how far up stream would smallmouth migrate in search of better spawning grounds?
  18. Started using flukes for chain pickerel 4 yrs ago, and soon found out how well smallmouth like them. We don't have largemouth here in my province but on a recent trip to Maine I had a fluke tied onto one of my rods at all times. The largemouth in maine were all over those flukes.
  19. always enjoy seeing big fish caught in a kayak! Well done
  20. Packing my gear up tomorrow and will be leaving this wed....cant wait to catch some largemouth. Got in contact with a couple locals that fish the lake I'll be on. Sounds promising if you can believe there fish stories I'll be sure to post my results when I get back. Thanks for the input once again guys!!
  21. thanks again guys.....I was looking at the regulations while registering for a 3 day fishing license but it didn't even cross my mind about what the deal was with fishing at night. Really looking forward to this trip. Catching largemouth will be a real treat, and if I stumble acrossed some nice chain pickerel or smallies that will be Ok as well!!
  22. Thanks for the tips.....Is it legal to fish lakes at night in Maine?
  23. Marty....thanks for your input. I'll plan to fish very similar to how I fish in Canada then. I expect water temps to be much the same, maybe a tick warmer. I'll hit the shallower water/structure in the morning and if that doesn't produce I'll just make my way out into deeper water. thanks again
  24. Hello, The wife and I are travelling too Maine for a few days the first of august so I am planning to do some largemouth fishing. I am from New Brunswick Canada and we have no largemouth to fish in our province so I figure why not eh? We are staying at a friends cottage on Quantabacook Lake just outside of Belfast near Searsmont. Does anyone have any experience on this lake? Also for early august largemouth, what are the best tactics that may put me onto some fish. My instinct will be too first try any weedbeds, or visible structure I can see topside. However will largemouth seek deeper water like smallies tend to do this time of the year? I would think largemouth like to hang out in the cover like thick weed beds, simular too chain pickerel back home in NB. Generally this time of the year I use a lot of soft plastics, senkos wacky rigged are my fav. Also the occasional spinner bait if the fish are a little more aggressive and maybe a few crankbaits. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks nate
  25. right on....thanks...I'll assum that the smallies in this small lake are 4-5 yrs old sense the largest ones I hooked were 11-12".
