  1. And don't overlook the Zara Puppy! It's just a shrunken spook jr. but it definately earns a spot next to the big boys. I have lots of luck with them as well as the "regular" size jobbers.
  2. One thing I always do if I go to a new lake that gets alot of action is to ask where the local tackleshop is. Then I go there to get a few things, while I'm there, I'll ask the owner/clerk/manager, whoever, what the hot lure is at the time. Then use/buy the farthest thing from it I can find! This is because if he's telling that to everyone then they are probably being done to death out there and the big'uns are just watching them go by while they laugh. Show 'em something different, and chances are, they won't be able to resist it.

  5. Barbie rod! LIne.....Hi-vis or clear?
  6. NITRO!!!!!!! ;D jigs.......build or buy?
  7. "grasshopper" is a term that was used in ancient China by wisemen when teaching their prodigies. It means young, eager one. I think he was just trying to say that there wouldn't be much point to dispute Raul on the matter. Don't be offended, ol' RW says that alot.
  8. I'd say 6....but I have my days where I start to wonder if I'm a 1
  9. I found a really, really good deal at my wal-mart the other day. A 3600-type box chock full of soft plastics by luck-e-strike. Hooks, glass beads, slip bullets, senko types, flukes, french fries, lizards, several types of finesse worms. .....$7.99 If you can find that, get it.
  10. well, my pond has sunnies like this and bass his size and bigger...tons of 'em
  11. Belief and confidence....nothing more.
  12. I don't buy GY's either, because they are so expensive and at the rate soft plastics wear out/get thrown in the drink by big fish, I just can't afford it and would feel like a real idiot paying double for something I can get at wal-mart and catch fish all day. I don't get paid one single dime to fish. But as far as I am concerned he can charge 150$ a bag. I just ain't buying 'em.
  13. this clip shows a very good example of this practice working like a charm http://www.questforadventure.com/video/bigmouthforeverHi.wmv
  14. What you were doing works. But you may have better luck with a snag-proof frog. (most wal-marts have them for a couple bucks) Try to cast it onto the bank, then just hop it off onto the scum. This way you won't make a big splash. After it sits a few seconds, (you may very well get a hit during this time) if not, jump it along about 6 inches each hop and hold on! Once you're off the scum go ahead and reel it in for another cast. Now the thing about a frog is, the way it's built the fish has to crunch down on it good to expose the hooks. When they hit it, wait till you feel him pulling on the rod and then set the hook good and hard. Good luck! Randy
  15. It takes practice, joe. I gut-hooked the most beautiful fish I have seen this year so far the other day. I was so mad at myself that I went inside. I wasn't paying very good attention to my line. Sounds like you already know this, but, WATCH THAT LINE! The second it moves, set the hook. 99% of the time the big mouthed fish like you're catching can get the whole bait in their mouth on the first inhale. their next step, if they like it, is to swallow. So , as soon as that line twitches, or starts to swim away, set it. Welcome to BassResource.com Randy
  16. Can't really say I approve of the cover, I mean I see the point it's trying to get accross, man against fish, but I find it...to be honest...Kinda disturbing...that fish is clearly not doing too well. I know it was probably already dead or was gut hooked and wouldve died anyway. But that ain't exactly the image we need. PETA will have a field day.
  17. Look for fish smoking cigarettes...........They're done! ;D
  18. WELCOME! ;D (Kind of new here myself....absolutely awesome site though) TONS of info and articles.
  19. My wife and I were fishing when a joke was made that we must be catching the same fish over and over. Well that lead to her asking, Is that really possible? My answer was probably not, mainly due to the fact that after being snached crosseyed, drug out of the water, held up by its jaw, and having a hook jerked/twisted/pryed out of whatever it's stuck in, all while basically being suffocated, they probably aren't thinking about biting anything else for at least a while. But I told her I could be wrong and that I would ask. So, where do bass most likely go when released? Another question is are bass so territorial that they will eventually wind up in the same spot they were caught (if they were caught in cover) even if they are released elsewhere on the lake/pond? Do they have that kind of instinct or sense of direction that most other animals do? Thanks, Randy
  20. Bill Dance's blooper DVD's are hilarious!
  21. Yesterday on BassChamps on OLN one member of a team caught a LM and it had an offset wormhook sticking out, eye and shank, of it's anus. He said he had seen that a few times before. He started to wiggle it but said that might not be a good idea and that the fish would probably pass it soon on his own.
  22. That's what I thought I remembered hearing but, all my life I also remember everyone around here grouping all the sunfishes in as "bream". Wonder why that is?
  23. And on a Crankbait, no less! Now, I know it ain't no record or nothing but it's definately the biggest I've ever caught by far and the biggest I've seen come out of my pond!!! I don't know if you can really pick it up by the pic, but I have pretty big hands! The bait is a Sisson Deep 2 in Black/Chartreuse. Never seen that either! It was a real ***** (hey that ain't what I typed, but I like it!) to get out, had to keep putting him back to swim for a few seconds while i figured out how. The tail hook was perfectly hooked on all three points past the barbs just inside his mouth. My wife kept laughing and saying "Well, that's it, you killed him.No telling how long that fish has lived and now you've killed him." Wound up using this thing for the first time since i got it 15 years or so ago...Still don't even know if I used it right, but it worked, Layed him in the water and he swam away. I think I just got lucky! Pretty cool! Maybe I just don't get out much! ;D Just thought I'd share! :
  24. thanks Reb, So what's best to do when I feel the big ones headed for the top? About 3 out of 5 throw it when they jump, shaking their head. Most are being caught on the trailer hook. Is this a factor in them being so good at chunking them out? Most of my spinners are booyahs and strike kings. for the trailers, I use eagle claw lazer sharps with the rubber tubing. By the way, I can spell...but my keyboard can't....... ;D
