  1. Are you sure they weren't red and green "balls"? ... as in BUOYS!! :o ;D
  2. Well I'll be. Thar she blows!
  3. Ease up Chris. Everybody has their favorite, or preferred baits/methods. Just as you, they're entitled. You love pork? That's great! Talk about it's qualities and why you use it. But don't knock those that don't.
  4. I thought Ditto wasn't around anymore. Does anybody still make Gator Tails?
  5. Roadwarrior - you took the words right out of my mouth! ;D
  6. Welcome aboard, Danarchy. There's a lot of great people here learning from each other. I'd like to think part of the reason is because of the caliber of people this site attracts. ;D That said, on the rare instance a rude or flame comment is posted, I delete it and give the offender a warning. Repeated offenders get my boot up their butt and are banned. I won't tolerate that behavior on my site. Fortunately, I've only had to do that once or twice in the past 7 years. Again, a tribute to the character of the people visiting this site.
  7. Welcome Aboard L.D.! Thanks for joining! ;D
  8. Yes I agree! There are times when there are 20 or more people all at one time looking through the forums - most of them guests. Don't be shy folks! Join the party!! ;D ;D
  9. It's actually a thick liquid, not a paste. Got hooked on it during a trip on the John Day river (http://bassresource.com/fishing/smallmouth_river_fishing.html).
  10. Funny how 2nd is great for most, except when you're 2nd and know you could've done better. Or, for that matter, when you're 3rd, or 4th, or.... isn't is odd when you place 20th, or 40th, you would've killed for 2nd, but when you end up in 2nd, you're disappointed? Chris - great posts!
  11. Actually, Smelly Jelly also comes in a liquid that you apply to your bait similar to MegaStrike. (just in case you didn't know)
  12. Flipping is what happens when you accidentally trip over your partners' tacklebox en route to falling overboard. Pitching is what happens when you get back on board and intentially throw your partner overboard for placing said tacklebox in your way! Subtle indeed, but I hope that clears things up for you! Oh Alright!! Lessee if I can tackle this one. I just first want to say it's best to SHOW rather than describe the techniques, but here goes... Flipping is the technique of placing a lure in a given spot at close range (0-10') precisely, and quietly, with as little disturbance of the water as possible using an underhand pendulum cast while controlling the line with your hand. Pitching is the technique in which worms or jigs are dropped into cover at close range (5-20') with an underhand pendulum motion, using a 6 1/2 to 71/2 foot baitcasting rod. Similar to flipping, but requires less stealth and usually done from further distances. Both techniques allow you to place a bait precisely into a pocket or under tree limbs without spooking bass. These are best suited when bass are buried deep in cover such as brush, downed trees, heavy weeds and such when conventional casts will not get the lure to the bass. There's more information at https://www.bassresource.com/html/flip&pitch.html with links on the bottom to even further detailed info. Hope that helps!
  13. That was the orginal plan, and since there's been no objection, I'm sticking with it.
  14. Hypothetical situation...You currently own a bass boat and for whatever reason, you intend to buy a new 2005 model Boat. You are obviously faced with a very difficult decision. Do you buy a different rig of the same brand without any question? Or, Do you buy a different brand altogether? Looking for an honest opinion here...this not a platform to bash ANY Brands out there. As for me, I love my '03 Ranger 520 Camanche and the subsequent service. I have no reason to look elsewhere.
  15. Do use any scent with your lures? If not, why? If so, which ones do you use?
  16. The tach signal comes from the Rectifier or voltage regulator..The temp sensor is in a cyl. head. Since you have problems with both I'd guess that it is a main harness issue or it's a faulty ground or power wire to gauges.. Does it have a panel (flush) mount control box or side mount control box? If it's a side mount it has a harness that plugs into the control box and connects to the tach etc
  17. FYI to our regular visitors - OLN asked permission from me first before posting this message. I thought some of you might be interested, so I allowed it, even thought it is technically a "commercial" posting. Let me know if you disagree with this decision. Thanks! Glenn
  18. Hi, Good questions! I'll answer your last question first. Sometimes there are times somebody may want to post a question regarding code on their own site, or a similar question regarding web code. However, the beginning and the end of the code snippet can sometimes be hard to decipher in a post (where does the code end, and where does the message begin?). In order to make it easier to view, you can place the code between the tags created when you push the # button. It will then appear in your post as text. Like this: Here is the code Now it's easy to tell exactly what is the code, and what is the message. Additional forums I certainly would like to add more forums. Matter-of-fact, it would be great to have many active forums. The keyword is "active". It's easy to create forums. It's hard to determine which ones will be used. Before I opened these new forums, I asked everyone on the old forums what categories (forums) they'd like in the new format. What you see today is a result of what the majority determined. Now that everyone is getting a chance to see the new format, and there seems to be interest in more forums, perhaps the question should be asked again? What does everyone think? Should we add more forums now, or should we wait awhile before adding more? If you want to add more, what should be added?
  19. That is still in the plans. However, based upon the feedback I recieved, I decided to start out small and grow the forums as demand dictated. The great thing about this forum system is that I can add a new forum very quickly and easily. However, I do not want to end up like one of those sites with a ton of forums nobody uses. So, we'll start off with a few and take it from there. Thanks! Glenn
