  1. Thank you Rich. Back at ya! ;D
  2. Ok, ok. Picture a dock that connects to land via a small ramp. Right next to the dock, next to the first piling in about 8" of water, a bed with a big bass on it. I approach carefully, slowly... spinning rod in hand... ready to toss the tube bait on the bed. In a moment of brilliance, I think "Hey, if I cast it on the shore first, then drag it into the water, I won't spook the bass." So, I deftly pitch the lure on the bank at the waters' edge... Suddenly, without warning, a cat leaps out from under the dock's ramp and pounces on the lure! "Where'd he come from?!" I said to myself, "I never saw him!" Somehow, I didn't set the hook or try to jerk the lure away (maybe because I was just too stunned). But that was a good thing, because such a move would surely impale the cat. As it stood, he simply was on it, but not hooked (thank God!) So I waited... the cat waited for it to move.... I waited.... He waited... I waited... and waited.... Finally the cat began to show signs of boredom... He sat up, but kept his paw on the lure. Dang!.... c'mon... just lift the paw... just for a second, that's all I need to whip that baby outta there... I could feel the sweat beads on my forehead begin to drip. I tried calling him, making a noise, trying to distract him. Well, that did it. He decided to leave. But...not without the lure! He quickly picked up the lure in his mouth and started trotting off towards the house!!! I quickly flip the bail open, hoping he'd stop. Nope... he keeps going! Now he's headed around the side of the house, proudly carrying his catch! I grab my line clippers, frantically yank off a bunch of line and clip it off. He's gone around the front of the house now. All I see is the trail of line disappearing around the corner. I have no idea what happened after that, but I bet there was one confused cat owner later that day!
  3. Cat. No, not a catfish. A cat.

Ladies and gentlemen, we've lost him. He's done lost his mind. :'( There's only one cure for cabin fever. He needs to go fishing!
  5. Here's a few more: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bad_fishing_days.html https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/lightening_fishing.html https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/lesson_in_respect.html https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/boating_safety.html Ya, I'd say these stories qualify.
  6. I noticed HuskyHush just joined a short while ago. He just hasn't been posting. One thing to note, guys, is that it's December - the slowest month of the year for this site. Many guys take this month off, but will be back in January. Give it time. They'll be back. They always return. Oh, and if you think this forum is hopping now, just wait until January!
  7. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/battery_maintenance.html ;D
  8. So tell me how you REALLY feel about it!
  9. I suggest replying to him via the instant message feature on this forum.
  10. I have the Lowrance X-15 MT with MapCreate mounted on the consol of my Ranger. My only complaint: I didn't order one for the front! This unit is absolutely awesome. The depthfinder has excellent detail, and the GPS is very accurate (used it to mark underwater stickups last year during practice and was able pinpoint my casting right on target during the tournament). In addition, being the techie I am, I use the MMC cards for creating custom maps, waypoints, routes, etc. before ever launching the boat. Sure saves a lot of fishing time!
  11. BTW - there's many articles on this site regarding lunker bass behavior and trophy bass fishing. Chris covered some of if, but there's even more info out there in the articles.
  12. Maybe "All Season" bass! ;D DOH!
  13. Wait a sec... Rich, did you say you bought tackle at a tire store?? ;D
  14. Yammamoto isn't having any difficulties at all - but their marketing would like you to believe that!
  15. What are your favorite bass books? Why?
  16. Here's a topic that I don't hear much about: If you regularly fish for largemouths in current, what are the differences you look for in river fishing vs. lake fishing. Do the largemouth prefer to be in the current, just out of the current, or in the backwater areas? How does rising and falling water affect the fish? Those types of questions along with others concerning the differences in lake vs river fishing are encouraged. I have my own thoughts, but let's hear from you first.
  17. For those that create their own crankbaits: do you use a plastic sealer for sealing up plastic crankbaits that leak? What type of sealer do you use and where do you purchase it?
  18. Ranger 520 dvx with a 225 Yamaha HPDI.
  19. Personally, I haven't viewed the show, so I can't comment on it's content. It just sounded to me like an outdoors show would have some interest here.
  20. Well folks, as I write this, the new forums have been open exactly 2 weeks. Since then, 96 members have registered and posted over 600 messages. By comparison, we had less than 300 messages posted on the old forums for the entire summer! Thank you all for coming aboard and sharing your knowledge! I can't tell you how impressed I am with the great questions and detailed answers I'm seeing. Y'all are great! Glenn
  21. LOL!! ;D
  22. Are you sure they weren't red and green "balls"? ... as in BUOYS!! :o ;D
  23. Well I'll be. Thar she blows!
  24. Ease up Chris. Everybody has their favorite, or preferred baits/methods. Just as you, they're entitled. You love pork? That's great! Talk about it's qualities and why you use it. But don't knock those that don't.
  25. I thought Ditto wasn't around anymore. Does anybody still make Gator Tails?
