  1. Same goes for Lowrance. You can download any Navionics map to your unit (they have both navigation and topo maps available).
  2. This forum is for grass roots, local bass clubs and non-profit organizations only! Tournament circuits and organizations that are not non-profit local bass clubs are not permitted to post here. In addition, club opens are also not permitted. Such posts are deleted. Do not IM me asking why your post was removed. You will be referred to this message. Why this policy? The name of the forum says it all - "Bass Clubs", not "Tournament Circuits". Thanks for understanding!
  3. True - you only see a "new" icon when OTHERS post. When you post, you'll be taken directly to your "new" post after submitting.

  5. Start a new thread per question please. And please use a descriptive subject line in your post so it's easy for others with the same question to find it later. Thanks!
  6. Yes, he will be missed... alot. More information can be found here http://bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/tom_mann.html

  10. For those of you wondering what a butt seat is, here's a butt seat in the foreground: Notice I have one in the back as well (although I do have the chair too, just in case the backseater prefers that instead). You can purchase them at Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, or, if you want a perfect match like I did, through your boat dealership.
  11. Thanks for the responses. So much for IM. LOL It's a fairly heavy sweatshirt - not as much as you'd get with 100% cotton, but still pretty warm and thick. As for the fit, it's roomy. The elastic on the bottom keeps it from riding up on you, but it doesn't feel tight. Per your request, here's another shot. My, what a glam model I am!
  12. Check it out! ;D MORE INFORMATION HERE Ya, I know, a little blatant adverstising on the site, but really I'd like your feedback on this and other products in the catalog. Send me an IM with your thoughts!
  13. The new forum format or the site in general? The new forums: Mid Nov. 2004 (the member count is from that point forward) BassResource.com officially hit the Web in early '97 after 1 1/2 yrs of work building it. Since then, it has *ahem* expanded just a tad.
  14. Ok... here we go... Ready? 15. It's a unique subspecies of bass that looks very similar to a smallmouth. It's called "Suwannee" because orginally they were only found in the Suwannee and Ochlockonee river system in Florida. They've since been introduced into a select few other rivers. So... they're pretty much a rare breed.
  16. Thanks BCAlbin. We've compiled "the essentials" for beginners here http://bassresource.com/beginner/beginner.html Enjoy! Glenn
  17. I guess I'm lucky. My wife fishes every tournament with me. When she insisted I buy a new Ranger, I knew I had to marry her! In fact, our honeymoon was fishing at lake Toho and the Daytona 500! ;D
  18. Hi J.T. Basically I was disagreeing with the premise of comparing Humminbird to Lowrance. They're not in the same class. That's not to say Humminbird sucks and everyone should run out and buy a Lowrance. It's just Humminbirds are better suited to those who like to turn it on and leave it, and Lowrance caters to a different market - people who like to manually tweak the settings every time they use it (and sometimes throughout the day). If you've used Humminbird all your life, you'd be overwhelmed and frustrated with a Lowrance. It'd be way too expensive if all you used it for was to find out the depth, and the schools of baitfish. But if you like Humminbird, then go for it!
  19. They have Wickiup Reservoir (http://www.lowrance.com/Mapping/LakeMaps/index.asp) and a whole lot more (http://www.navionics.com/PremiumLakeList.asp?RegionID=28&Classic=0&Gold=0&Premium=1) Enjoy! ;D
  20. Yes, I am. Unfortunately, it's only available on satellite in my area, which I don't have. :'(
  21. Well J.T., I have to disagree with you on that. I had a couple of Humminbirds and wasn't impressed (very limited options/menu choices; poor detail; kept freezing up or turning off randomly...). I felt handcuffed using them. I now have 2 Lowrance units on my Ranger and love them (X-15mt and X-97). Granted, they are far more technical and complex, so there's a learning curve on them for sure. But really, to get the most out of your depthfinder, you really need to take it off all the auto settings and dive into all the menus and settings. I guess it's a matter of personal preference. For me, a Humminbird is a great choice if you like to turn on your unit and leave it - especially if your main use is just to know how deep it is. But if you like to tweak it to maximize the detail, enjoy deep structure fishing, or are willing to delve into the nitty-gritty of getting everything out of your unit, Lowrance rocks! Now, color screen vs. B&W? Gotta say, I really like the color screens, they offer even more subtle detail you can't see in B&W. But I'll wait another year or two until prices come down a little more. They've already come down quite a bit.
  22. Here's a great shirt! ;D Go to THIS PAGE for more informaiton
  23. It was me. Look at the first post - it's a boat equipment question.
  24. Could be, but under a different name.
  25. 7 days and 100 new members later, we've grown to 500 strong!! It's amazing how fast these forums are growing. At this rate, we'll be at 500 a week in no time. I'm going to stop mentioning every 100th registration now, since the time span is so close between milestones now. Thank you for jumping aboard and joining the conversation! ;D
