  1. My '03 Ranger 520 Commanche is by far the easiest boat I've ever driven. However, I learned real quick that it'll turn sharper than you imagine on full plane. About threw myself overboard a couple of times it cut so sharp! Some boats "skip" or "slide" when they turn on plane - not mine. It "digs" and turns!! It took me awhile to get used to that.
  2. Yamaha has a pretty cool tool on their site that shows test results on various boats and motors. Check it out: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products/otb/perfbull/ Includes GPH (Gallons Per Hour) measurements at various RPMs.

  4. Have you checked out the fish & pond management articles on this site? http://bassresource.com/fish_biology/about.html#fish Great stuff. You'll also learn alot about bass behavior too!
  5. Most exterior paints by companies such as Krylon not only are tough but also dry in a matter of minutes. Any discount or hardware store will also have a wide variety of very bright colors in shades of orange, yellow and red. 7. Above all, put the plug in before you launch. I think we've all goofed on this one at least once. How many here have tried sinking their boat?!
  8. Yes, I do. I just didn't want to get into the fine details of it. The smiley face is a result of 3 question marks together. Eliminate one and it will go away.
  9. Sounds like you're talking about the Kentucky Spotted Bass - essentially a hybrid between largemouth and smallmouth bass.
  10. Try using zip ties on the shaft to hold the cable in place.
  11. "Bronzeback" is slang for "Smallmouth" - not a breed or strain of fish.
  12. LOL! Great post. Thanks guys. I'm still amazed at the sheer number of visitors to this site. Much more than I ever thought possible back when I launched the site back in '97. Glad everyone enjoys it, and gets as much out of it as I do.
  13. We did it! Over 1,000 members are using the message boards now!! Outstanding!
  14. "Welcome Aboard!" ;D

  17. I have XM radio, 6-CD changer stereo installed on the Ranger. I got the XM so we can listen to NASCAR while on the water! That's the wife's rules... oh darn.
  18. According to the WA Dept. of Wildlife website, it's open from the last Saturday in April to October 31. Since you're in the area, you might want to try Long Lake in Port Orchard. It's open year 'round.

  20. What corner of Washington do you live in? ??? FYI - bass fishing is open year 'round in Washington state. There is not bass fishing "season". Some of the smaller lakes are closed during the winter, but that's the only restriction. All the bigger lakes are open for bass fishing.
  21. I manually adjust mine as the day progresses. Here's a good starting point: Disable "Auto depth range" Disable "Auto Sensitivity" Set the ASP to "Low" Set the "Surface Clarity" to "low" Select the sensitivity option and adjust this down to between 50 and 80 (may need to adjust throughout the day) Select the "Depth Range" option, and choose a depth slightly lower than your current depth. You'll probably need to adjust as the day goes on. Finally, exit out of the menus and choose "Pages" and set it to the split screen mode. That's it!!
  22. Actually, before you start bending the eye, check to see that the hook hangers line up straight. Often times that's the culprit, and bending the eye merely compensates for it (while weakening the eye!).
  23. Boy oh boy, we've been preaching this one for years. There's a ton of misconceptions and misinformation out there on the Web. Plus, there's a lot of misunderstandings and confusion on how selective harvest works. We've partnered up with the best in the industry on lake and pond management - Pond Boss. The largest issue for fishermen by far is the proper use of selective harvest. Consequently, we have a ton of articles on the subject. Start here: http://bassresource.com/fish_biology/about.html#fish and take in the information. It's really opened my eyes through the years, and given me a new respect for fishery biologists. Enjoy!
