  1. So the problem is all the member's files and message files need to be chmod'd 666 in order for the history function to work properly (amongst other things). The problem is, whenever I change them... in the amount of time it takes me to run the "rebuild history list" maintenance functions, something on the server reverts them to 644, thus preventing the histories from being built (and fixed). This issue is also affecting other areas of the site. Like LBH said, I'm working on it. Sorry this is taking so long folks. But the fact-of-the-matter is, this site is far more complicated than it appears on the surface. It takes a lot of time to hunt down bugs. So bear with it for awhile. I'm doing the best I can.
  2. Game over man! GAME... OVER!!
  3. Finally! http://www.bassresource.com/fishingstore/index.php Enjoy!
  4. A sweaty boy band. That's just great.
  5. I have 3 of the high-end Revo's. They make my Chronarchs look ancient. They're awesome reels. Abu-Garcia has really stepped up to the plate on these, as I've owned a great many of their reels in the past to compare to. The Revo's are a whole new class compared to previous Garcia's. Caught my 8 and 9 pounders on Fork on the same reel. I owe that to the smooth drag. I'll be buying several more for sure!
  6. I didn't quite mean it THAT way Long Mike. But the reality is, everyone has their favorite places, so there's really no way to for a large group to come to a decision that everyone likes. It just won't happen. So I'm saying let's not open that can of worms. The mods and I will decide on a place. If you can make it, great! If not, then there's the following year, or the year after. The goal is to have it at a different place each year so that everyone will have a chance to go and/or fish their favorite lake. Jeez Mike, don't make it sound so harsh. I mean, they don't decide the Classic locations by having 600,000+ BASS members vote on it now do they? They have a small committee that decides. It's not a dictatorship, it's doing what's reasonable and feasible so that they can plan ahead. We could have a humongous, endless thread here with everyone chirping in on what lake they want to fish - with no decision ever being made. Or the mods and I can come to a decision within a short amount of time so we all can get on with the planning.
  7. Just as I thought - about as many lake suggestions as members. Exactly the reason why I don't want to put it up to a "vote", and the reason why the mods squad and I haven't discussed it publicly yet. Rest assured, we're working on some locations. Understand we have some "help" in this area as well (guides, accomodations, boat rentals, group rates, etc.). If the mods and I cannot come up with a clear winner, then we'll put the top 2 or 3 to a "vote", complete with critera and pros/cons of each location. Date TBD, but most like right after the Classic, before the next major FLW/BASS tournament. So early-mid March.
  8. Mattm said it better than I could have. However, I can understand how yuo feel ("but nothing went wrong...there were no arguments"). But if we let it go, and it DID turn into a slug-fest, then people would be saying "why didn't you lock it up... didn't you see it coming?". So, we're in between a rock and a hard place. As LBH said, it's nothing against you nor your statements/beliefs. It's more of a matter of maintaining the peace around here. It's much easier to pre-empt a blow up rather than try to clean up the mess and hurt feelings afterwards.
  9. Sounds like my schedule, except I don't work at UPS, and it's a business trip to the Columbia River instead of Cali. Hey...waaait a minute! YOU GET TO FISH?!! Joking aside, this is an all-voluteer corp, including myself. Any money "made" goes into operational costs (You can thank our sponsors for the new server). That said, the mod squad does a tremendous job here keeping things running smoothly. RW was being modest - they do A LOT! Without their hard efforts, I wouldn't be able to do what I do. It's as simple as that. Our schedules are not pre-defined; they're random on purpose. No telling WHEN we'll be here. Bottom line: We love this site, have a passion for it and the sport of bass fishing, and that's why we do what we do. P.S. I wasn't joking about the fishing part. :-?
  10. They used to advertise here, and then the owner went delinquent on his payments to me. He never repaid his debt despite numerous promises and excuses. 'nuff said.
  11. I noticed one day you just deleted your profile, without explanation. Left me scratching my head. Never got the impression you were trying to "promote" yourself, else you would have had to deal with me. That's no joke. I took your video posts as something in your life that you were sharing with us. Kinda like the "family" we are. Sorry to hear 1 anonymous e-mail pushed you away from us. Would have rather you brought this to the attention of myself or one of the mods instead.
  12. Sounds like you had an awesome event! I'm certain the kids had a fantastic time. Way to go!
  13. Pull the cowling off, then pull the hose off that attaches to the speedo. Shoot about 90psi of compressed air into it. Caution! Make sure nobody is within "line-of-site", as that wad of junk comes firing out at good clip!
  14. Change the ping rate on one of them so they're not the same. That's step #1, and usually clears up most issues.
  15. I'm going to guess they "upgraded" your browswer to IE7. If so, it's possible your security levels may be too high. IE7 default security settings are notoriously high. So high, it can block the login cookie set by this forum, so you can't login. To resolve: 1. Go to Tools/Internet options 2. Click the "security" tab 3. Then click "trusted sites" 4. Now set bassresource.com as a trusted site, and "ok" your way out. Should solve it.
  16. Thank you. I appreciate the kind words and recognition. Russ only knows about half of the stuff did, but no need to get into the details. I really don't realize how big and complicated the site really is until I do a server move like this! Still have a little clean-up left to do, but the bulk of the work is completed. Again, thanks for the kudos, and thanks for being patient while I got things squared away. Glenn
  17. Since the forums were down for a week, I have extended your end date by 7 days. This includes BOTH the forums AND the rest of the site, for those that are advertising throughout the site. Just my way of doing business.
  18. It's a Mafia term, know what I'm sayin'. I tink ya doo.
  19. Here's how to change it: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1185512887
  20. If you're seeing "new" colors (i.e. a lot of blue), see this thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1185512887
  21. Yes, it's the same login password you use to log into the forums.
  22. Howdy folks, One small by-product of the move was that some of you have had your preferences reset to the default state. This is why you may be seeing a blue forum, rather than the tan one. It's easy to fix, however. 1. Click the "Profile" button up near the top. 2. Click the "modify" button, and enter your password. 3. Now click the "options" tab 4. Near the bottom of the screen, find the "Which template would you like to use" option, and select "BassResource" from the pulldown menu. 5. VERY IMPORTANT! Click the "Change profile" button. That's it!
  23. Ok folks, I know I had enough of the slow site issues. Well, this new server is super-charged compared to the old one. I know it's screamin' fast for me now! Hope it is for you too. Gone are the slow days!! Enjoy!
  24. Please give a warm welcome to one of our newest advertisers, Megastrike, Cavitron, and Evolution Jigs! While at ICAST, I had the pleasure of meeting Bobby Uhrig, president of Megastrike. He's a great guy with a wacky sense of humor (laughed my butt off!). I had the opportunity to look at these baits up close and personal, and let me tell ya folks, this is prime stuff! The Evolution jig is truly innovative in many ways, so much so it won an ICAST award last year. Now they're introducing a finesse line! Great stuff you just have to check out! For your reference, here is a complete list of BassResource.com advertisers.
  25. I moved the entire site over to a brand spankin' new server. It was a major, major move that involved many intertwined parts, and some HUGE files. It's a ton of work to make it happen. Not trying to toot my own horn, but I've spent probably 80 - 100 hours in last 6 days working on it. Now.... I'M GOING FISHING!!
