Unabasser - you got spanked because of the way you presented your opinions, not because of your opinions. You also attacked another member in the process. Not exactly the way to get me to throw out the welcome mat for you. By the looks of your post, it sounded to me like you don't like this site, don't like the members, nor the way I run it. Didn't seem to me there was no way to even begin to attempt to address your concerns, as your mind was already made up. So why bother? As another put it on this thread, "Unabasser's post may have been harsh." And you did it again in your 2nd post. It was good, useful feedback until you got towards the end, and then you added more jabs and sharp comments. And you expect what? A warm response to that? Are you kidding me? If you run out in front of a train and get hit by it, don't blame the train. And most certainly don't act surprised. So don't get your fur ruffled if I didn't respond to you with open arms. You've proven in the first part of your 2nd post that you can express your opinions in a thoughtful, meaningful way that is helpful. You'll get a more positive response by writing that way than you will by using the tone and pointed remarks of your 1st post. I do hope you've read my other posts, as that might help lend some insight into why we do what we do. We're not trying to shut people up, nor are we trying to choose favorites, etc. Just trying to promote the positive and limit the negative. Understand that everyone has a different idea of how far is "too far", so there's really no way find a sweet spot for when and when not to close a thread. Because of that, I understand some people, who have a higher tolerance for "too far", will get upset every time a thread is closed. Equally so, there's just as many who feel we didn't close it soon enough. So we try to find a balance in the middle. If you find yourself one of those people on either end of the spectrum, it's not going to change. So it is what it is. That is, it's a fishing site, not your life. ---- Speedbead - great suggestion! I like Gordo, even though I'm an Elliot Sadler fan (been a tough 2 years for Sadler fans. He needs a new team). In fact, I like most of the drivers, except for a few that mouth off too much. Getting a little tired of seeing the same guys up front though. That said, that was a terrific move by Gordon and an exciting finish. He raced clean, and masterfully pulled off a well-timed move like the seasoned veteran he is. Nobody can fault him for that!

You guys don't understand. The closing of Senko threads is due to EVERY ONE OF THEM turning into the SAME argument over which knockoff is better - often leading to heated words. I don't know why that is, but it happened over and over again so many times.... It doesn't happen on chatterbait, Ikas, swimbaits, etc, which is why those haven't been closed. In addition, pretty much every question about the Senko have been asked, and the answers have been collected in one place so that newbies can quickly get answers to their questions. It's a service to them, and very helpful to point them to the FAQ's, rather than forcing them to wait for an answer.... which ends up in an argument anyway (not the best way to introduce them to the forums). As for "healthy debates" on these forums - I'm all for it. However, what I won't tolerate is attacks on other members, disrespectful behavior, racist remarks, etc. All I ask is for people to treat others with respect and speak to them as if they're in the same room with them. If they're unable, or unwilling, to do that, there's plenty of other forums out there where they can attack and belittle people all they want. Life is too short to waste energy on negative thinking and focusing on our differences. Concentrate on the positive things in life instead. That's what I try to promote here. Having one Senko thread after another turn into a needless argument every time goes against that policy. I know you guys don't see it that way. That's because we don't let it get that far anymore. It hasn't happened in a long time, and that's because we stay on top of it. So YOU don't see a problem, only the actions we take to prevent it. So it seems unwarranted in your eyes. Oddly enough, when we DO let a thread run that far, and a huge argument ensues with a lot of people getting attacked, angry, and hurt, then we're critized for not stopping it sooner. We're questioned why we don't police the forums better, why we didn't ban so-and-so, or why we allowed it happen. So we clamp down, and then we're accused of being a dictatorship, censorship, "silencing people who disagree", etc. Can't win either way.

We have over 11,000 members now. In EVERY situation now, no matter what we do, people complain. There's no possible way to make everyone happy. In fact, it's expected to get the irritable PM from somebody who disagrees with the way this site is run. Our only goal now is to keep the peace. That means cutting off threads when they START to go awry, rather than attempt to clean up the mess afterwards. If ya'll want to mix it up with somebody, then go elsewhere. As for the Senko threads - no doubt nearly every thread eventually turns into a shouting match over which knockoff is better, and arguments ensue. The answers to the original questions are in the Senko FAQs, so there's no reason to let a "new" thread run, only to wind up in yet another argument. Again, wanna fight with somebody? Go to another forum. There's plenty of bickering, insulting, whining, and ticking matches in other forums. We try to keep that at a minimum here. Ironic people want to whine and argue about that as well.

It's not a computer glitch, nor did any of the mods do anything. That said, occasionally people accidentally delete their profile by mistake.

I had the same problem with my big motor. Finally took it to the shop. Replacing the Yamaha bulb with an Evinrude equivalent did the trick. Mechanic said something about the 'Rude's bulb being stronger than the Yammie. It works great now, so I don't question it.

I don't get that detailed. I can tell by looking at them if they're a topwater, shallow runner, mid-depth or deep crankbait (and add the super-deep cranks as well). That's it. I have seperate Plano boxes for each set. Key here is for your crank to bottom bump. So I always grab one that seems just a little to deep for where I'm fishing. Do I care exactly what depth? No, just as long as it's banging bottom or ticking the weed tops I'm happy. Simple, but effective.

An aerator combined with Please Release Me is much better. You said you're using frozen water bottles. Good for you! Using straight ice is bad because the water contains chlorine and other chemicals, which is harmful to the bass. So it's good you're using something that doesn't introduce harmful chemicals. That said, be sure you only lower the temp NO MORE than 10 degrees less than the lake temperature. You can put the bass into shock if you go any more than that. A simple pool thermometer will help you out there. And don't use ice unless the water temp is over 70 degrees, as it's not beneficial to use it at lower temperatures. Hope that helps!

I just passed a kidney stone a few weeks ago. I can attest it is the WORST pain I have ever felt! So I can sympathize. Fortunately, the hospital was able to give me some powerful pain meds. That plus a ton of water enabled me to pass it. A follow-up with the urologist taught me a few things, like coffee and dark green vegetables are bad if not done in moderation. Drink lots of water - Gatorade type drinks aren't that good for you because of all the sodium, and soda pop is just as bad. Stay clear of mocha's and go easy on the chocolate. Water, water, water. Drink lots of it. He told me I should be passing about 2 litres of fluids per day!

Boaters' World is where I got it. I don't know if they have it in their online store. I actually went into a retail store and got it there. I've seen it at small local marine shops too, so look in your favorite shop, or let your fingers do the walking. Chances are they'll special order it if they don't have it on the shelves. Best 10 bucks I ever spent.

Good posts. It's great to see more and more anglers understanding how selective harvest works, and why taking home the occassional legal limit is beneficial to a fishery. This is absolutely incorrect. A fish acting this way is severely stressed out. Lactic acid, endorphines and other chemicals are at high levels at this moment. These levels are lethal over a prolonged period of time. In addition, his need for oxygen has greatly increased. This fish is dying! You want a calm, relaxed fish. Upright, slowly moving their fins... just "hanging out". "Catch & Release" formula contains a mild sedative that calms the fish and reduces stress, thus decreasing post mortality. Sure, the fish will probably "freak" when you touch him, but he shouldn't be "hot racing" around the livewell simply by opening the lid and looking in. I use the culling clips on my bass. When I'm ready to bring them to the weigh-in, I grab the tag and quickly get them into my bag - no chasing around trying to grab them. This helps minimize the stress during weigh-in. Anyway... Do NOT use JB weld! It's becomes ridgid, and aluminum flexes. You'll end up weakening the aluminum AROUND the JB weld as the hull flexes, and eventually it will split around it. Use Sikaflex 292 instead. It's awesome stuff that seals to perfection, yet is still flexible enough that it won't damage your hull. Used it on my aluminum boat (when I had one) to stop leaks and never had to worry about it again.

Several problems here that are working in concert to cause your problems. 1. You're using bleach to clean out your livewells! That's extremely toxic to bass, even in very low concentrations. Read this article to learn how to properly clean your livewell. And stop using bleach! 2. Are you using Rejuvinade? If so, stop immediately! That stuff kills bass, period. It contains chemicals that stimulate bass. Yes, stimulate. Exactly opposite of what you want to do to a stress-out fish! If it doesn't die in your livewell, it will soon die after the weigh-in. Use "Please Release Me" instead - a far superior product that works! 3. Please remember that while oxygen is vital, it is not the only requirement to keep fish alive and healthy.
