  5. Depends on the skirt material. IMO, all skirts eventually clump and stick together after long use at some point. For me, I use white lumiflex or hydrosilk skirts, and "color" them with JJ's Magic. It's very, very effective and doesn't take long to customize the skirts that way. Yes, there's added scent, which I don't think is required for reaction baits, but it doesn't hurt now does it?
  6. Man that is some fatty! I'm jealous! I've been meaning to learn the float-n-fly technique, but have been hesitant because 1. It's only productive in the winter 2. It seems to work best on steep ledges and humps 3. We have very, very few lakes with steep ledges and humps (mostly bowl-shaped natural lakes here) Still, I want to give it a try someday.
  7. Geez that's a fantastic spot! The tongue, not so much.
  8. I asked 7 of the top pros at the last Classic that very same question. You can see their responses here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/bass-fishing-videos.html Look under "Exclusive Interviews"
  9. Hmmm....I drink Folger's when I'm in a hurry, but grind my own from specialty shops otherwise. Hey, I live in Seattle. It's a requirement. So, for store-bought brands, I'd choose Folgers. I like the dark roast blend, but you gotta really like coffee to like such a bold blend. Most folks choose the Bed & Breakfast blend, which is really mild. If you want to grind your own, I recommend these: http://www.longbottomcoffee.com http://www.peetscoffee.com http://www.bocajava.com Whatever you do, don't get Starbucks. It's like the McDonalds of coffee.
  10. Boy oh boy, did we get a lot of entries for the slogan contest! You really did give us some great choices, kudos to the members!! No doubt we have some very creative, thoughtful, and intelligent members here! Unfortunately, that made choosing a winner very, very difficult for us. In the end, we narrowed it down to 7 choices. The mods, Gary, Keri and I then batted around our thoughts, checked trademarks, and then voted. It was tough, to say the least. 2 of the seven tied, another two were already in use by other companies.... it was very close to say the least! With the collective minds of 7 people, a clear winner finally made it to the top. I'm pleased to announce the winning slogan is: News. Knowledge. Neighborhood. BassResource.com Congratulations to Pond-Pro for coming up with the winning slogan! Please PM with your address so I can send you your prizes! Thank you everyone! You all amaze me! Glenn
  11. But the challenge doesn't start until Jan 31st, and his last post was over a month later. Methinks he's taking time off for the holidays. Pretty common around here, really, as Nov-Dec are the slowest months of the year in terms of traffic.
  12. Also, if the dropdown menus "won't go away", then you're using Firefox. This is a known bug in Firefox. There's nothing wrong with the site. ------------- Also, if you're not getting e-mail notifications, please check your settings in your profile as they may have been changed during the upgrade. Thanks! Glenn

  14. Well C R A P!! That's been my favorite "computer resolution" site for years! *sigh* Well, here's a few to try, but I honestly don't know anything about these sites: http://www.techsupportforum.com/security-center/virus-trojan-spyware-help/ http://www.pchelpforum.com/ http://forums.techguy.org/79-security-malware-removal/
  15. It's 95 degrees in Sydney Australia right now. http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/local/ASXX0112?lswe=Sydney,%20AUSTRALIA&lwsa=WeatherLocalUndeclared&from=searchbox_typeahead
  16. The key about mattresses is that it's personal choice. More expensive doesn't necessarily equate to more comfortable. The one thing you must do when shopping is lay down on the bed for at least 15 mins. If you're still comfortable after that long, you have a contender. Trust me, there's a lot that won't even make it to 5 mins! Keri and I went through the whole bed shopping thing last year. We narrowed it down to a foam bed by Englander and a Simmons pillow top we found at Costco. We went with the Simmons. But again, it's personal preference.
  17. Have a blast y'all!
  18. Good guess, but no.
  19. I can say with great confidence that Swindle will not win it this year.

  22. Respectable showing against pros? Son, I think it's time you brush up on your anglers. Roland Martin He holds the records for most tournaments won at 19 and most B.A.S.S. Angler-of-the-Year titles at nine. In addition, he has made 25 appearances in the BASS Masters Classic. He also holds the record of 20, for 2nd place BASS finishes. Roland Martin was the first professional bass fisherman to be inducted into all three Halls of Fame: IGFA Hall of Fame Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame Hank Parker Hank's professional fishing career begin in 1976 when he began fishing the National Bass Association Tournament Circuit, winning their national championship in his first season. The following two years he fished both the National Bass Association and American Bass Association. Hank then began fishing the Bass Anglers' Sportsmen's Socitey (B.A.S.S.) Tournament Trail-winning the BassMaster's Classic in both 1979 and 1989. He also was the first angler to win the Grand Slam of Bass Fishing, which included the Classic, B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year, and the B.A.S.S. SuperBass Tournament. Hank finished "in the money" in 76% of all the tournaments he fished during his B.A.S.S. career Jimmy Houston: Since winning The Oklahoma State Championship as a college senior in 1966, Jimmy Houston has gone on to win over a million dollars in bass tournaments. He has fished 15 BASSMaster Classics and won the B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year title in both 1976 and 1986. A legendary angler, Jimmy was inducted in to the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame in 2002. He was inducted into the IGFA Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame in 2008. Jimmy was named King of Sports for Fishing in 1989. In June of 2004, the Jim Thorpe Association recognized Jimmy as the Jim Thorpe Man of the Year. I can only hope to be half as respectable as them!

  25. I've had many members report "problems with the forums" recently, and after a lot of sleuthing..... every single one of them was resolved by clearing their cache. One of them "thought" they had done it several times, only to find out they never did it right. Here's how to do it: IE6: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx IE7 http://www.viscott.com/esupport/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=51&nav=0 Firefox http://www.ehow.com/video_2320708_clear-cache-mozilla-firefox.html Now restart your computer. Please clear your cache before reporting any "issues" to me. And then restart your computer. Thanks! Yes, this solves the "banning" issue some people are seeing when they try to post or PM a message.
