  7. Alpster - you have done a stellar job this year! You have an incredible knack for tracking and following up on all the details. We're all very grateful for your efforts. I was looking forward to hanging out with you and catching up. I think I speak for all when I say you will be sorely missed, but your family needs you more. Family is always #1, so you made the right decision. Don't worry about us. Mike is very capable. With Mike taking over the reigns, I am confident everything will go well without a hitch. Mike, I want to personally thank you for stepping in on short notice and handling all the last minute details. There's a flurry of them, so it's no cakewalk. It's just the nature of this event. But you're well qualified and can easily handle everything. That said, please let folks know if there's anything they can do to help. I'm certain you'll find no shortage of volunteers. Looking forward to this event! Glenn

  13. According to AdAge.com, Boating magazine is for sale. The website reported that the magazine is being sold with other enthusiast titles owned by Hachette Filipacchi Media US, a subsidiary of the French company. Boating has a circulation of 175,000, making it the world's largest subscriber-based boating magazine. Like other US boating magazines, Boating has seen its ad revenues decline steadily over the last two quarters. Ad pages from January through the April issues fell 48.7 per cent compared to the previous year. According to the AdAge story, Hachette has been cutting expenses at the media conglomerate since the arrival of CEO Alain Lemarchand last fall. The media investment bank DeSilva & Phillips has been hired to find new owners for the enthusiast stable. Hachette also publishes Popular Photography, Flying, Elle, Car and Driver, Road & Track and Woman's Day magazines. The story said it was unclear whether the magazines were being sold as a group or individually. A Hachette spokeswoman told IBI that the company had "no comment" on the sale.

  21. Pumpkinseeds, Perch, Pike, Bluegill, Walleye, and bass. What is the right balance in a lake? What are the roles of each for growing trophy fish? What is the predator/prey ratio and how do they balance each other in a lake? It sounds like the answer might be complex, but really it isn't. It's explained in simple terms here: http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/walleye-bass-perch.html

  23. Yup, color change time! That's usually one of the first things I do. The other is to vary my retrieve. They're telling you something, and it's usually one of those two.
