  1. Good question. The problem we had was NOT attributed to the Google ads, or any other ads that are currently running on the site. I was trying out another ad system, similar to Google ads, which is where the problem came from. They were running for only a few hours between the time they were launched to when I took them down. It's really surprise this happened, since I was assured there were no such issues with that system. Oh well. I won't do that again! Google, on the other hand, is very very good about filtering out malicious ads. I haven't had a problem with them at all on this site, nor have I heard of anyone else having issues. So you can rest assured there won't be any problems from this site moving forward.
  2. That's exciting news! I hope you get the job. Keep us posted.
  3. Here's how you can help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?virboard=gen_bass;num=1155400601 Thank you!! Glenn
  4. You have what's known as a hijacker. Go to the site I linked to above, download hijackthis, and follow their instructions. Great tool for speeding up your computer, btw, but you absolutely must know what you're doing. The forums on that site will step you through it. Then download and install Spybot Search & Destroy. This will prevent hijacking in the future, amongst other malware and virus protections.
  5. Ok, I understand now. I thought instead of covers, there were vents. Yes, the speakers could go there.
  6. I have a Yammi HPDI and absolutely love it. Great engine! That said, I understand the Evinrude is better at oil consumption and has a tad more power than the Mercs and Yammi's. I also understand they come already broken in, with the first service interval at 3 years. Not a bad deal.
  7. I wouldn't let your age get in the way. It's all about marketing and sales, not tournament wins and fishing prowness (although that's a plus). A friend of mine, Nick Barr, started like out like you, and had a boat sponsorship along with a number of other prostaff positions by time he was 16, and wasn't really that great at tournaments (although he did do well in the Jr. Bassmasters). But he knew marketing and could write. He got his mug in the press over and over, built a website, did seminars, etc. etc. Being young was a bonus, as it set him apart from many others. It's all about leveraging your age as a unique marketing benefit few others have, and then exploiting it to the max. Good luck!!
  8. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ That site will help you get rid of any trojans or viruses. They will also help you speed your system up. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/
  9. My dad got me into it at a very young age. He taught me the basics, and how to cast a baitcaster. He gave me the "bug". My buddy Frank really taught me a ton, and is the one I credit for seriously increasing my knowledge base, and catapulting me from a casual, recreational angler to a tournament angler. I joined a club, and learned a lot from fishing with different people. I attended a number of seminars and learned a number of things from the pro's seminars. I also accumulated a large library of bass fishing books and videos; watched a ton of fishing shows; taped most of those shows (Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Hank Parker, Bassmasters, Orlando Wilson, Jimmy Houston, etc) and watched them over and over. I sat down with a number of local pros over the years and picked their brains for local fishing knowledge. It's amazing what you can learn for the cost of a meal! I taught Keri how to bass fish, and interestingly enough, learned a lot while doing it. Now I'm taking my learning to a new level by talking to, and fishing with, the Elite pros. They're great teachers!
  10. Wasn't the coach's decision. It was management's (Polian's) decision. He's always done that to rest (protect) their starters when the standings won't change, win or lose. Did it with Dungy too. IMO, I agree with the decision. Approach it like preseason. Play folks who normally don't get as much play time, try plays that you might use later, and experiment a little. All would be geared towards post-season play. With the right mindset and focus by the team (instead of whining and complaining about it), they should be very well prepared to take it to the finish line more than anyone else.
  11. I've been using Abu reels for decades now without any issues whatsoever. The Revo reels are the BOMB! However, I feel no need to bash other brands simply because I like Abu reels. Seems like a waste of brain cells to even bother.
  12. It seems this trojan is running rampant on the Internet right now. Here's how to remove it: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=52429.0
  13. Sounds like a great cat toy!
  14. Ok, I have isolated the culprit and eliminated it from the site. It was an ad served from a 3rd party site, which I have no direct control over. So I removed the 3rd party completely. Apologies for your problems. Understand though that what you have is malware, not a "virus" per say. It's annoying, but not overly harmful. For help solving them, please go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ To prevent this from happening again, be sure to buy a quality anti-virus program such as PC-cillin. I don't trust free anti-virus programs.
  15. What link (ad) did you click on, and when did you click on it? Was it 3 days ago? Can you provide any more details that will help me figure out what ad it was? I can block it once I know which ad caused it.
  16. Hazmat warning? I'm looking right at a bottle right now and see no such thing, other than a warning that it's not for human consumption. Strong and long-lasting it is, however. And the dye is VERY permanent!
  17. I believe those holes are for venting the hull - to prevent explosive gas vapors from accumulating. So you probably don't want to block those. Marine speakers are the only way to go. The head unit can be anything you want if you use a weatherproof "lid". You can get those from Cabelas or BPS.
  18. There's some links to some great threads that address this question in the "Best Of" BassResource.com sticky thread.
  19. Use this search function. It's better. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?action=search
  20. I have 2 and have used them quite a bit. They work very well - great drag system! Smooth gears and solid. I've had no problems with them. My only beef is the anti-reverse button is in the wrong place, IMO. It keeps getting flipped "off" accidentally in the rod locker from bumping around.
  21. We'll be there again this year too. You can find acomodations here: http://www.birminghamal.org/EventAccommodationsList-BASS.asp
  22. You probably had a rotary razor. Those are ok, but the foil razors tend to do a better job. This is all you need: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P5HCKK/
