  3. The FAQ's are your friend. Locked....
  4. I hooked into what I thought was a really good fish. I mean it dove down and pulled hard, then dove right, then darted left, then dove down again. I fought it hard and screamed for the net! ....until I saw it was a Pringles can!
  5. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
  6. As you can see, it could be a lot of things. It's very hard to diagnose yourself. I suggest taking it into a qualified marine mechanic to give it a once-over and full tune up. And if the gas is older than, say, 3 months, replace it. btw, smoking a bit after first starting it is normal for those engines. I wouldn't sweat it.
  7. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!! Go....go....oh, nevermind....
  8. When you pump the bulb, does it get really firm after a few pumps, or not at all, or something in between?
  9. What kind of bunks do you have? Are they roller or flat, carpeted boards? Here are some boating tips, including launching and loading your boat: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/boating.html As for the leaking grease and oil - yes, you have a bad seal. You need to replace it asap before you do anything else. Be sure to replace it with whatever you have now. You may or may not have a Bearing Buddy. You can tell by looking at the center of the hub. If there's a grease fitting, you have a Bearing Buddy. While you're at it, you might as well do the other one too, just to be safe.
  10. That's a good question. It makes sense when you think about it. But I don't like to think too much. I like to keep it simple: let the fish tell me. In other words, there's never a "right" or "wrong" time to use a particular retrieve. Just try it and see if it works. You never know until the fish tell you. I've had fish hammer a waked spinnerbait during the summer just as hard during the winter. I've had bass engulf a slow-rolled spinnerbait in the winter just as much as they do in the summer. I've even caught bass on buzzbaits on New Year's Day when there's ice on the ramp! Fish don't read the same books we do. They sometimes bite lures and retrieves that "don't make sense" to you and I. Your best bet with a spinnerbait is to try different retrieves until you find how they want it that day. Rinse and repeat the next day, and so on.

  12. I've owned a Leatherman for decades, and have put it through some hard use in adverse conditions. Still works like it's brand new (of course, I sharpen the blades every now and then). I highly recommend getting a holster for it.
