  2. Ya, it's weird at first. I fidgeted with mine for a few months before I got used to it. Just make sure it's a snug fit. Mine slipped off while fishing, and into the drink it went! Keri was fishing with me and witnessed it, so no explaining to do there. I was able to get an exact replacement - that fit better - but still, it's not THE one used at the wedding. My dad told me later that he was on his 4th band. Apparently his wears down over the years and will break if it gets too thin. So he replaces it with a new one. Who knew?
  3. So, all day today, my favorite radio station was celebrating the music... the ROCK music... of the 1980's with a little thing called "Dude... it's the 80's!" There's a lot of talk about the cheesiness of the 80's, and deservedly so, but for a man like myself, reaching my teens and young adulthood, my first girlfriend, discovering the "joys" of becoming a grown-up, the 80's were probably some of the best years of my life... which means some of the best times of my life are, rather unfortunately, defined by the era of the Brat Pack, "We Built This City" and the AIDS epidemic. Oh well. Inevitably, there are things that remind you of the good times... even if the reminder sucks. If you're lucky, it doesn't, but either way, today's question: WHAT SONG TAKES YOU BACK TO THE BEST TIMES OF YOUR LIFE?
  4. Never got the feeling you were bashing. I'm just letting you know. Every install is different, regardless of which you go with. Just in the differences in boat designs makes each install unique. For example, PP says you need to drill a hole for the hydraulic lines, but I was able to run them through the existing hole for the engine lines. So...no holes.

  7. Zildjian, you have plenty of room for a pump, and it looks like an easy-to-access area too. You shouldn't have any problem. Jeremy - you're making it sound a lot harder than it seems. You can install a PP in as little as an hour if you're handy. You have the pole, pump, wires, and lines. That's all there is to it. The hydraulic fluid is made of soy, so if you accidentally spill it, it won't cause you any problems nor is it hard to clean up. I like the Bluetooth app myself. You can easily customize the install via your smartphone without having to reach into tight spaces or mess with the equipment. Heck, you don't even have to be in the boat to do it!

  9. Had a fish just last weekend that blew up on a frog, only to discover he ripped the legs off - totally missing the hook! Argh!
  10. The 2012 Summer Olympics are officially under way. That's right, all the archery, handball and equestrian events you can handle are coming your way. Essentially, we will watch a bunch of people infinitely more gifted than us compete for their chance to be immortalized on a box of Wheaties. Personally, I'd rather be immortalized on a box of Cap' N Crunch, but then, I kinda don’t do anything. Thing about Olympic coverage now is that there's some long- winded story behind every athlete and the networks feel the need to share. Basically those stories fall into one of two categories; they were naturally gifted and this is their chance to show the world OR no one thought they'd be able to compete and this is their chance to show the world. So, not unlike most of us, some things come easy, some things required a lot of effort, and that leads to today's question: WHAT DID YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD FOR AND WHAT CAME NATURALLY?
  11. Ding! Ding! Winner! No matter what you do, do this FIRST! Seriously. Note the recent Alabama rig knock-offs (trust me, there were dozens at ICAST last month), or the endless Senko knockoffs. The fishing industry is not bashful at all, and will steal your idea in a heartbeat. Get a patent. It's the single most important thing you do.

  14. Fish cannot digest hooks, period. It's an old wive's tale. It's been proven over and over. I really wish this myth would go away.

  16. Matt - been there, done that, and like Mike says, it's a blessing in disguise. Doesn't seem like it right now, I know. But trust me, it is. You'll realize this someday - hopefully sooner than later. But the reality is, better days are coming your way. More than you can imagine. Hang in there. We're here for you, 24/7/365. Glenn
  17. Bluegill spawn several times a year. So it's a safe bet it's bluegill.
  18. Indeed the mood was more like a funeral than a coronation when Matt earned the Bassmaster Classic berth by beating his brother Sunday. Matt had two bass that weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces. Jordan finished with two bass weighing 2-4 after another tough 4 1/2 hours of bass fishing on Beaverfork Lake. View the full article
