I used to be like that, but now I view the boat ride as that - a mode of transportation to get me to the spot I want to fish. Once I'm up on deck, it's all business as I focus on taking apart the area thoroughly. Really I've already thought about how I'm going to execute those first few casts, so it's just a matter of putting the trolling motor down and getting to work.
That said, if you're "amped" after that ride, then throw a crankbait or spinnerbait a few times. If you get bit, so much the better. If not, then you'll calm down pretty quickly!
