  10. Well...don't be afraid of the boater. Yes, it's his boat, but you don't have to be a mouse .... you're a guest. I'd say ask him how many rods and how much tackle he suggests you bring. Each boat is different, and each boater's tolerance is different. So there are no hard rules. Chipping in for gas is almost mandatory - although I never accept it. And don't let anyone convince you that you need to chip in for "other" expenses such as oil and insurance. Other than that, don't make a mess (eating crackers, peanuts, etc). 11. Wow! That's awesome Mike! Congratulations to you, and my condolences to her!
  12. Might get a better deal at this Black Friday deal: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/127595-black-friday-sale-starts-wednesday-at-valley-sports/
  13. There's some good Black Friday deals to be had. Check this out: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/127595-black-friday-sale-starts-wednesday-at-valley-sports/
  14. Either drift with the wind using a heavy carolina rig or heavy jig, or throw heavy (3/4oz) spinnerbaits and/or deep diving cranks (those shallow divers are too light for strong winds). 1/2 oz or heavier lipless cranks work well too. Some of the best days I've had were fishing windblown banks and riprap with spinnerbaits and crankbaits. It's best to have a partner on board who can jump on the trolling motor when you're dealing with a fish - so you don't get blown onto the bank.

  16. So if you have to ask this, then you noticed it was down. There was a network outage that started a chain of events, resulting in the meltdown of our database. We had to restore from Monday's backup, meaning all of Tuesday's posts were lost. There's no way to recover them. My apologies for the inconvenience, however the good news is that we're up and running again. Note there may be some temporary anomalies such as search results not working. This will restore as the backend systems reindex and rebuild themselves. Thanks again for your patience. Glenn
  17. So, I learned a new term today; 'sleep tattoos'... defined as 'the markings on the body left behind from sleeping for an extended period of time'. We've all been victims of it and had the misfortune of having to explain to others what the weird imprints are on your face. Last night, my buddy was chatting with a man at the grocery store who had only one eye. In spite of how obvious it was, the guy felt the need to TELL him that he had only one eye. And then there's a guy in Chicago who caught his girlfriend having sex with another guy... so he knocked the guy unconscious and LIT HIS B*LLS ON FIRE! On FIRE!!! The guy was hospitalized and will recover, but at some point in the future, he'll have to explain to some gal why he has crispy bits. At least he HAS bits. Then there's the guy I knew in college that had a freckle on his iris that makes it look like his eye is bleeding. It didn't affect his sight at all. Weird, I know. Anyway, these stories inspired today's question: HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT THING ON YOUR BODY?
  18. Did you reboot your modem after hooking it up to the new router?
  19. Anyone under the age of 18 is welcome, but needs to be accompanied by a parent. Non-boaters are welcome!
  20. You can fly into Muscle Shoals airport (MSL), which is 15 mins away. Avis, Enterprise, and Hertz rent cars there, or it's close enough that somebody could come pick you up, or you can even cab it.
  21. Yes, at last, here it is! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/pickwick-lake-2013.html Enjoy!
  22. The 9th Annual BassResource RoadTrip On Wilson Lake Alabama! April 30th - May 5th This year's trip will be bigger and better than ever! This is a tremendous smallmouth fishery with some great largemouth and spotted bass fishing to boot. However, this trip isn't strictly about catching bass. It's more about friends getting together and having a great time, good food and meeting new people....with some fishing thrown in for good measure. Wilson Lake is the "place to be" in spring! Meet the BassResource staff as well as everyone on the boards in-person. And of course, everyone will be up to their fun antics! For those who haven't been and might be uncertain if you'll fit in....don't worry, you will, we'll make sure of it! Check out last year's highlight video! You MUST mention you are with the Bass Resource group in order to get the group discount. You do not have to book it for the entire week, you can go longer or shorter. Just understand we cannot guarantee availability if you want to stay outside the event dates. You must make your reservation by Feb. 28th. Room availability cannot be guaranteed after March 1st. Note that a $120 deposit is required. If you need any help with your room reservation, send a PM to Alpster with a phone number where you can be reached. The cabins comfortably sleep 4-8 persons. Assuming 4 people share a cabin, the rate per person per day would be $46.98, tax and cleaning charge included. Each cabin is constructed with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams that reach to the second story loft. The first floor is designed with a master bedroom and full bath, along with a fully equipped kitchen and open great room with a wood burning fireplace and satellite TV plus Internet access. Also located on the first floor are a dinette and a washer and dryer. Upstairs you will find 2 additional bedrooms and another full bath. And of course, each cabin has its own private pier, hammock, picnic table, charcoal grill, and rocking chairs. There are no RV or camping facilities on the grounds, although Joe Wheeler State Park is near-by. The docks behind the cabins do not have electrical hook-ups so long power cords will be needed. There are boat slips available that have electrical hook-ups, and are free of charge for cabin renters. Registration Form All attendees and their significant others are required to submit a completed and signed Registration Form. Here is the link to the Form. http://www.ronnieandliz.info/pdf_files/RoadTrip%202014%20Reg.pdf Fishing Licenses An Alabama fishing license is all you'll need, regardless of the area you plan to fish on Wilson Lake, but even if you plan to fish Pickwick Lake, just minutes down river from where we're staying. Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee have reciprocal agreements for Pickwick lake. However, if you wish to fish the area below Pickwick Dam, a Tennessee license would be needed. A non-resident 7-day Alabama fishing license $27.60. Here's where you can get your license (scroll down to the "links" section). Common Questions Who is invited? Everyone! How does fishing work during the trip? Are we all on our own, do members pair up? Share patterns? The lake is pretty big. Do we all launch at the same time in the morning as a group or everyone do their own thing? To begin with, this is not a tournament. It's just a bunch of folks who enjoy the fishing and camaraderie. We will probably have a "biggest bass" contest, but there is no entry fee and is pretty much on the honor system. Everyone does their own thing when fishing. They launch when they want and where they want. As for pairings, every evening we do our best to pair everyone up for the next day. NO ONE is left standing on the bank. How does lodging work, do we tell you if we require a room? Do we get paired up for rooms with other members? It is the responsibility of each individual to arrange their own accommodations. We have blocked 10 cabins for BR members, but reservations must be made by you. The block will be removed March 1st, so unreserved cabins may not be available after that date. Stay active on the Road Trip forum and post from time to time that you are looking for a roommate. It always works out. What are the nightly activities, as I have seen videos of speakers in the past. When does that happen? Almost every evening one or more of us will cook for the group. RW and Long Mike usually cook hamburgers. Alpster usually does some sort of cajun dish. We pass the hat and ask for a $5.00 contribution from each member to help defray our costs. On one of the evenings (yet to be determined) we will have our "banquet." This is when we have our speaker(s.) Dinner is on you that night. Do i need to bring a boat? NO, you do not need a boat. Everyone is welcome, and everyone fishes! We hold random drawings (see schedule above) to pair boaters/non-boaters up.
  23. Yes, we're aware of it and working on a fix. Dang Google keeps changing their code.
  24. Brian, I wasn't going to out you, but now the cat's out of the bag! Yes, you refused to use the Senko, but not because it was a Senko, but because you were holding out on the hopes that yesterday's bait was still the ticket.....for a loooong time. Hey, at least I didn't tell them about the water in the boat! Good times Brian! Thanks for kind remarks guys. I'm humbled to say the least. Mike sure knows how to make me look good!
