If you shave the edges of your crank bait you have to take off an even amount on each side or it will not run as straight as you would want. What it does when you shave the edges is it takes some of the wobble out of the crank bait. If you take some off the bottom it won't run as deep. Just take your time and practice on some old or cheaper ones until you figure it out.

If you guys are having a hard time using chatterbaits and basstrix style swimbaits try using the basstrix bait as a trailer on the chatterbait. It has work wonders for me here in California. For me the most over rated baits are the knock off baits to the Hudds. They just don't swim right at all.

Thanks for the reply. I did read in another post were you said that you would print an image on either paper or tissue paper then apply it to foil or foil tape then opoxy over that. That's a great idea. You seem to be the man when it come to making these things. Thanks again for the help.

I have made some swimbaits and wake baits that I've been painting by hand and the paint jobs doesn't look anything like yours. Mine are just really basic. Were or how are you guys using the stuff your calling foil. Is it foil that has the fish pattern already on it. Were can I find foil for doing my baits. Thanks for the advise and info.
