  1. Ok, i have had the same dilema you have. Here is the rod/reel combo i suggest: Berkley Lightning Rod ($35) and a Mitchell Advocet II ($20). Both are available at your local wal-mart, or any other sporting good store for that matter. Lightning Rods are VERY WELL KNOWN as being the best in their class for their price. They are super strong and cheap. They will last you forever. Those Mitchell reels are CHEAP, but ive had one for about two years now, and although its scratched, it still performs VERY smoothly. I used it in bass tournaments, carp fishing, and i even landed a dozen 30+lb salmon with it. Its a great combo. Buy it, you wont be disappointed.
  2. Yea, i think its somewhere in the southeast part. Im not entirely sure. But legend has it of MONSTER smaillies suspending on it.
  3. Very good point Tin, thanks. I am indeed thinking. I guess i jumped into this whole deal a little too soon. I am, in fact, TOO busy to offer ANYONE anything as far as S-P-O-N-S-O-R-S go. I do have to fish the big boy stuf. I gotta make a NEW reputation for myself. By the way, I WAS at Lake Norman in 2004. That is a great lake. Small world.
  4. I go to the Culinary Institute of America, and I am wondering if anyone belongs to, or knows of a contact in a bass club in that area. Thanks, and TIGHT LINES!
  5. You help me? They like you? You speak english? lol. Thanks for lightening the mood!
  6. There are only two occasions where I DON'T use fluorocarbon: Fishing jigs, plastics and frogs in heavy weeds (I use braid here) and when throwing any floating topwater, like a spook (I use mono here). Fluorocarbon is nearly invisable underwater, and it sinks vs. Mono, which floats, which is why I use mono for topwaters. However, I find that flourocarbon excels when throwing crankbaits and jerkbaits because it helps them get down a little deeper and stay deeper. It also gets the nod when I am fishing clear water, or useing a general finesse technique, like drop-shotting. However, it is NOT without its flaws. Fluoro frays rather easily, and is notorious for gaining weak points throughout a days fishing, resulting in lost lures or even fish. You should retie often. In conclusion, EXPARIMENT. Throw a crankbait on 12 lb mono, then the same lure on 12 lb fluoro, and see what you like better! TIGHT LINES!
  7. An insult? Wow. How so? I mean, I use them because its all I can afford. But, I find them pretty good for the price. Why do you think they are an insult?
  8. Earthworm, great advice. You've really helped me to understand sponsorship. Thank you again, and sorry for the headache!
  9. I like the specs on the LTB St. Croix rods. Let me ask... I am most concerned about ripping the small tebles out of a big bass' mouth. I want to ask you, are the tips of the rod hard, or do they have softer tips? Like, fast action, or slower action? I personally throw the Triumph Series from St. Criox: are these rods comparable?
  10. What applications do you PERSONALLY prefer a high 7.0:1 gear ratio, vs. a slower, 5.1:1. Or, do you prefer something else?
  11. OK, you all make very good points. First, Tin, I apologize. I should have been more formal about it. I did't take this seriously enough. Thanks for all the advice, I'll consider it all. Tight Lines!
  12. Ok, thank you all. I'll be sure to be more careful when writing ANYTHING! I guess I was concentrating too much on the question, and I didn't even do that very well. Then again, it was about 3am, but no excuses. Thank you all, and you too, Tin. I dont take kindly to people talking smack, and that's what it sounded like coming from you. You understand, don't you? Anyway, have a great day, and TIGHT LINES! Hey, I bet I'll never spell S-P-O-N-S-O-R wrong again!
  13. Really, its unnecessary and unprofessional. I doubt youll make it very far talking to people like that. To be a professional, you must act like a professional. You must be likable and you must have people skills. And you, my young friend, arent displaying any of what it takes to achieve success. I think a good long look in the mirror may be able to cure your hostility. Honestly, if you dont have anything positive to add, please keep it to yourself. Unless, YOU want to sponsor me?
  14. Yea, but are they good CRANKBAIT rods? Like, soft tip?
  15. Wow, thank you for pointing that out to me. Thats very mature of you. I bet that attitude catches you a lot of bass. Dont reply to my posts anymore. Thanks, you a REAL professional.
  16. Bomber Fat Free Shad, Every size, Citruse Shad, Foxy Shad, Citruse, Chartruse Rootbeer, and Rotbeer Float. Oh, and Crawfish! TIGHT LINES!
  17. Im from Milford. I have fished it a few times, but its not really my bag. I have had good luck fishing in deep weeds. But, ill tell you this: Under that lake, is a whole friggin TOWN. and, it is "legend" that somewhere in the south-western part, in about 40-50 feet of water, there is a CHURCH underwater, and if the light hits it just right, you can see the crusifix underwater! Where exactly, idk, but if youre looking for a partner, ill be happy to drive up there and go fishing with ya!
  18. Ok, first off, everyone go to ***.com. Next, look at the Casting rods. I want several rods all from the same company. i want, more importantly, no foregrip, open butt design, and over 7' tall, meium to med. heavy action CRANKBAIT rods. I also want a 7'6" flipping rod, and a 7' frog rod. I want all rods to come from the same company. WHO SHOULD I BUY FROM? ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPIRIENCE WITH ALL OF THESE BRANDS? THANK YOU!
  19. Simple yet complicated question. At what point in your fishing career do you start to persue sponsership, who do you go to, and how do you go about doing it?
