  1. All of the REVo models have the SAME feature in the side plate, same as the curado. There is a thumbscrew you loosen, and then twist the sideplate clockwise oppositethe reel handle. You can adjust the magnet settings that way also.
  2. This may be a silly question. but what do tyou mean, "take apart every time i want to make an adjustment"?
  3. Its an epidemic, especially on lakes like Greenwood and Hopatcong.
  4. Consistency is key in rod manufacturing. But despite performance, i cant bring myself to buy a Carrot Stick. The reason is that where i come from (NJ/PA) the fishing can be good, REALLY good, but in key spots. A lot of guys run around a lake and see if youre catching fish, and if they see you, theyll come right in on you. Im sure this happens elsewhere too. I just dont want an opposing angler to see a BIG BRIGHT ORANGE BEND in my rod. It kinda makes me stick out like a sore thumb, ya know?
  5. I like the Horny Toad for s swimfrog. I treat it like a buzzbait.
  6. For starters, i would go with Albino, Midnight walker, and Natural Green. The green is for clear water, and whenever youre trying to immitate a frod. Albino for clear days, and MW for cloudy days. Also pick up a Barney or Puddy Black. These colors more resemble bluegill. Bluegill live in the same areas as bass do, and therefore, bass are well known to eat them. They will sometimes trap bluegill against floating mats of vegitation and the shoreline. Throw one of those colors when you notice bass blowing up on the shoreline. AND THROW IT ON 50# Braid!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I want to buy myself a whole new set of reels/rods this winter while the lakes here are frozen. EVERYONE is introducing a new rod, and they all look tasty. But, i have narrowed my reel search down to two models: the REVO STX or the Shimano Curado E. Both are very attractive in both cosmetics and specs. But I dont know which to choose. Any suggestions? Another reel maybe?
  8. I like the idea and concepts behind the Okumas, but i dont like the foregrip. Its too long. I want to palm the reel and have direct contact with the rod. Other then that, it sounds delicious.
  9. Anyone see the Lightning Shock rods from Berkley? Granted, they may not be STEEZ quality, but I'm sure everyone here can appreciate a good deal. Check them out. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewicast08purefishing01.html Unlike some of you, I am fishing on a budget, so this is great news for me!
  10. do they come technique specific?
  11. Try sticky weight on the front hook, or suspend dots, or even a bigger hook on the front, depending on the desired rate of fall.
  12. You do not need a permit to fish either Lilly or Candlewood, just a valid CT fishing licence. It is SO worth the trip from anywhere to fish those lakes. Hey, anyone here fish the Bryon V. Kerchal Memorial in April?
  13. My favorite technique is to cast it onto land, and hop it into the water A lot of people don't present it lifelike enough. You'd be suprised how many bass you can catch just by hopping it into the water from shore.
  14. Congrads on the rod. I hope you land some monsters with it.
  15. The beauty of that frog is that you can use it in open water too. i work it with sparatic light twitches over weeds and around laydowns. However, when fishing around and under overhangs, i walk the dog. This frog requires very little effort to do so. Light jerks of the rod as you reel slowly. You can just about walk the dog inplace with this frog. But expariment. What works for me may not work for you. Get out there and fish. This'll be the last frog you you buy!
  16. I have pondered the very same question. Which frog is BEST? i did some exparimenting of my own. I threw Rage Tails, Ribbits, Snag-Proofs, and as many other name brand frogs i could find. My conclusion? SPRO's Bronzeye 65. I had an about equal number of bites on this frog then the Bobby's Perfect Frog, but my HOOK-UP ratio was way higher, all other variables consistent. Buy two of these: white and black. Use the white when the sun is out, and black on a cloudy day. DO IT! you wont be disappointed.
  17. windblown main lake points, anywhere bass are schooling chasing baitfish.
  18. Candlewood and Lillinola... HUGE BASS!
  19. Thanks for the wisdom. BTW, GREAT looking cranks. If you ever sell any, let me know!
  20. In simple terms, it is a worm rigged "Texas Style", on a special jighead with a larger hook. Google Shaky Head rig images. Youll see.
  21. You can't really fish a trick worm the wrong way. Fish it any way you like. Texas, Carolina, Shakey Head, or Wacky. Whatever.
  22. Fat Free Shads (BDS5-6) Strike King Series 4-6, 1/2 oz football jigs, 10" power worms (1/4 oz), and a SENKO.
  23. Im just saying, IF you had to choose?
  24. Ya know, all of this got me thinking... If you had to choose between owning whatever high end bass boat you wanted and mediocre equipment at best, or being a non-boater with highest quality equipment, which would you all choose?
  25. Alright Hooker, I hear you loud and clear. I certainly can't afford it. But if someone else can, go for it. I wouldn't mind owning one. I just can't see myself forking over $300 bucks for one rod, let alone $400. But ok, I'll have to try it one day.... if I ever win the lottery.
