  1. Wish I could join you boys but I'm picking up my new puppy on saturday so I'm stuck home... Had to get myself a retriever to fetch my ducks and to go fishing with...
  2. I'm a 27 year old male hailing from the Scranton area... I enjoy long moonlight walks on the beach... I love playing volleyball, and volunteer feeding the homeless... Just kiddin..... I fish everywhere... You can catch me on Lake Wallenpaupack every monday afternoon and night during the warmer months... Other weekdays and weekends I am usually somewhere fishing on some lake.... Also fish the Finger Lakes a lot and just added Raystown to my list of travel destinations...
  3. I don't beleive so... I do beleive that big bait catches big fish... But, even that can be untrue at times...
  4. Thursday the 23rd sucked... Don't know if it was the cold front moving in or what but we got skunked.... Nothing, nada, zilch... Launched at 7 Points and we hopped from shallow point to shallow point back and forth all morning all the way down to the lower lake... We tried topwater, texas rigging, jigging the ledges of points, spinners, deep cranks, wacky style.... Nothing worked... We talk to a few other people throughout the day and no luck for them either.... The lodged we stayed at was run by a guide and apparently he didn't have any luck either that day(told to me by wife on friday)... All in all I think we did pretty good going on to a new lake completely blind and I can't wait to do it again next year... A few of us are already planning on going back during the spring.... We stayed at a great lodge called 7 Points Lodge, which was great... Plenty of parking for boats and outdoor power hookups... Clean, well stocked, and very close to the water... About 4 miles to the launch at 7 Points, and it seemed closer then that... The gentleman that has the lodge is also a Striper Guide and from what I've read on striper sites, he's one of the best at the lake... Didn't get a chance to try him out but will next year.... Here is some further info: http://www.7pointslodge.com http://www.striper-guide.com/mainpageIE.htm
  5. Wednesday the 22nd we launched out of Snyders Run... Not much to say about this entire day... We threw everything at them and didn't see much action... Couple hits here and there but nothing took... Fished till about noon, then when we decided to troll while we ate lunch and relaxed... Once again fish came in the afternoon... We caught several smallies on Spooks and on a Rainbow Trout colored Husky Jerk... We were directly at the point where the #2 marker is... Biggest fish of the day was caught on the east shore near susquehannok on a bluegill colored Fat Rap... There are some weeds and rocks over there that we fished with little luck but I did manage to get a good smallie about 19"...
  6. Here is the update from my trip.... We got out fishing 3 out of 4 days... We didn't go out on Tuesday the 21st because it was supposed to be bad weather... Monday the 20th we were fishing out of 7 Points, didn't do much all morning... We finesse jigged some ledges in the morning and threw everything at the weed beds directly across and north of 7 Points... Nothing... Most of midday and early afternoon was spent vertical jigging for lake trout but no luck... Around 3:30 we hit the point around marker 6... There are weed beds and it is realtively shallow there... 3 fish were caught there before the area went silent... 2 on a popper and 1 on a white and chartreuse spinner slowly reeled over the weed tops... Smallest was 16" and caught on spinner... The ones taken on the popper were 20" and 22".... The key to fishing this spot was to avoid the super shallows, and focus on fishing the areas that are about 5-12 ft deep... Stay off in the deeper water 15-30ft and attack everything in front of you....
  7. Well keep us up to date... And good luck....
  8. If anyone is interested in meeting up the week of Oct. 20th I will be down Raystown with a few friends... I know one of the days we will be going out on a charter and anyone is welcome to join us...
  9. The whole state has been getting whacked pretty good the past few days... Fishing in bad weather is fun though... Not only is it a challenge but it keeps you on your toes... I was vertical jigging for lake trout this past spring up on Seneca Lake(NY) with a friend and the waves were 2-3 feet... The waves were crashing over the bow if I didn't use my electric motor to ride up them... We must have caught 20-25 fish in just a few hours, one of my best days ever...
  10. Myself and a few friends are going down in late October for a week... I'll let ya know what we learn incase you plan on getting out late in the season... We will probably be putting in at 7 Points Marina most of the week... This will be the first time there for most of us, so any more info you can provide will be helpful...
  11. I have used Senkos on 1 OZ and 1 1/2 OZ jigheads while vertical jigging for lake trout.... They work at 100+ ft too...
  12. I like to head north of me and go to the Finger Lakes in NY State... Two of them (Cayuga and Seneca) have bubbler units to keep a launch or two open year round... The lakes don't freeze over and the fishing is awesome when it's cold out... Plus it's cheap as hell to get a place there after september....
  13. I'm taking full advantage of the weather... I'm getting on or in the water at least 4-6 days a week... Hit some lakes with the boat and when I want to save on gas I just go do some river fishing...
  14. I was up on Seneca for the week of the 4th... We fished for some bass and pike but mostly we vertical jigged for Lake Trout... There is a great guide up there that is a friend of a friend... He posts some great fishing reports and has an excellent service.... Even if you don't use his services, get some info out of him... I can't post the link to his site because I don't have enough posts yet... Here it is just put the "http" before and the ".com" after... fingerlakesanglingzone
  15. Nope no church, but keep telling the story... It wouldn't be fishing if there wasn't story telling...
  16. I live about 25ft south of Scranton... I fish most of the small lakes and state parks around here... I also fish "The Pack" a lot in the spring and fall, I don't get up there much in the summer... Also an avid river fisherman during those hot summer months... Just found and joined this message board last week and I like it a lot so far... I belong to a bunch of other fishing boards and this is the first one where I found people close to me....
  17. Your right, there wasn't any type of town under the water... There were a few estates that were there though... If you go to the visitors center, they have some really old/accurate maps of the area before the flooding... The foundations are still there and you can find them with a good graph and a little bit of exploring...
  18. It's got a great smallie population... The striper fishing is good too... Tube baits of all colors work, and the go to color is chartreuse for anything... Lots of down timber to jig all over the lake... Best time to fish for stripers is at night(of course)... Just wait to hear them surface and cast stick baits at them... You won't catch anything amazing but when they are biting it's great... Forget about fishing during the weekend unless it's very early or very late... The boat traffic is horrendous.... If you plan to eat anything from the lake check the health advisories on the PA Fish Commission website... I know walleyes were heavily polluted with mercury, not sure about anything else, but I wouldn't eat anything out of there... Very dirty water....
