  1. I've caught some big bass in the heat of the day. 90% of my fishing is done when I get off work at 4:30-dark. I have had good success with catching some of my bigger bass in deeper water when I first arive at the lake before the temps start to cool down. I haven't caught many big bass in the early AM.
  2. The weirdest one I can think of at the moment was just last week. I had just reeled in a cast and had about 3 feet of line out, I had my jig dangling over the water and had my other hand and on the trolling motor when the tip of my jig trailer barely skimmed the water and a 3 lb bass jumped up and nailed it! That was pretty cool.
  3. I'm with scwildbill on this one.
  4. I'm a believer in a full moon increases your chances to catch a big bass, I missed out on fishing this one though. I've been sick.
  5. 23" 7 lb 2 oz. Caught on a deep diving crank bait.
  6. If I go in the morning I usually fish from day light to about 12 or 1. If I go after work I usually get on the water about 5:30 and fish till dark. All this is subject to change depending on how well the fish are biting. Or on a big lake, sometimes I'll fish all day.
  7. I'm going back to pork, I've been using plastic this year and not having much luck. It's not really the plastics fault, I just have confidence in pork.
  8. I was fishing with a buddy this year who fell in while peeing, flipping the boat in the process. I won't mention any names. ;D
  9. i personally would fight the fish like normal, reeling the backlash up. i've done it before. none of my reels have anything that makes them hang up on the retrieve when i have a backlash, just trying to pull it out. no need for hand fighting the fish.
  10. I assume you don't have very much to fish with as of now if 5 dollars is a big deal for lure shopping. If I didn't have any bass lures and only 5 bucks to spend, this is what I would get at Wal Mart. 1. 99 cent chartreuse/white spinner bait. 2. bullet weights. 3. worm hooks, 3/0 the cheapest I could find 4. whatever bag of worms you can afford with the rest. I'm pretty sure you can get that list for just about 5 dollars. If not, try to find a dollar store like Freds. Some of them sell fishing lures. You should be able to find cheaper stuff there.
  11. what does that do? stir up the plankton and such and attract fish?
  12. There sure are a lot of people that don't know about that. It's an important fact to remember. The big ones know that if they use all their poison in one bite, they'll be defenseless for a while. Big snakes will give warning bites some times with no venom injected. The smaller ones just let it flow.
  13. Ah, The dreaded bass thumb! The only cure is more bass fishing!
  14. that's a great idea! i fish a lake that looks like a jungle when the water is down and you can't see any of it when the water's up. i'll give that a try.
  15. another thing would be to make really long casts. spinning gear and lighter line. if you're a finesse fisherman, i'm sure you already have the equipment. try to fish with the sun in your face. the fish can see you better if you're between them and the sun. are you fishing in a boat or on the bank? try wearing colors that blend with your back ground on the bank. if it's woods, wear camouflage. with no limbs or other debris in the water to get in the way when fighting a fish, i would use very light fluorocarbon line. senkos for bait would be a good start. i would get the most transparent colors i could find. try both soft plastic and hard jerk baits. maybe try speeding up your presentation with whatever you are using, the fish might be getting too much of a good look at your lures if you're fishing slow. don't give them time to figure out it's not real.
  16. you can weld the rivets and stop the leak. while you're at it weld them all to prevent future leaks. ;D
  17. the switch doesn't look melted. i'll try that and see what happens. thanks
  18. oh man this should be in the boating forum. i got too much going on. sorry glenn please move.
  19. last week my trolling motor was submerged. i went fishing in my boat yesterday for the first time since and something burned up in my trolling motor. it started with reverse not working and then it started smoking and forward wouldn't work either. i opened it up when i got home and a wire was burned through making contact with another wire. i wraped it with electrical tape and it still doesn't work. i'm no expert, but i think the switch is bad. any ideas?
  20. the lining wears off on the very edge of my tailgate where i slide my boat in the back of my truck. we called the rhino place to see if they could patch it and the guy told us that they patch it with windshield adhesive. so we just bought some to patch it. that stuff is super tough when it dries. you could probably get off cheaper buying a tube of that and filling the crack with it than buying a can of the liner. the windshield adhesive is about as durable and almost the same texture. it's like tire rubber when it dries.
  21. low budget hookers, i have rhino lining in my truck bed, i love it! have you ever fealt the texture of a rhino liner? is herculiner the same texture?
  22. that's awesome! how long did you fight him , what kind of tackle?
